How about trying: "Hey this is a great item to buy! The last 5 people who bought this where able to get this for $15 less without a special coupon. Can I show you just how I was able to help them?" This worked for me when I was in retail stores. Work it and make it natural. Good luck!

is this opening assuming you are already speaking to the decision maker? If not, do you still use the same pitch presuming that the person answering the phone will be interested enough to get a decision maker for you? Or do you use this once you get past the Gatekeeper?

I always like using a standard opening that ends with a question only the decision maker can answer. This way, if they answer I know they are and if they don’t know they usually get the decision maker for me.
