I just picked up the Mac Mini M2 which now allows 4K output for my monitor. I used to build my PCs but the M series architecture is hard to beat. The Rig looks great and I hopes works well for you for a long tim.

Yes, the setup has been working great so far. What FPS have you been getting with the M2 Mini when running it in 4K?

Great question. Where can I find that information during playback?@@SmartBikeTrainers
@SmartBikeTrainers Жыл бұрын
It should be in your documents/Zwift logs folder. You can use log file and the Zwiftalizer website to see this information.

According to the log files I am getting 64.5 to 75 fps.@@SmartBikeTrainers

Price of the desk is the same as the PC. Nuts! App controlled 😂

I had modified a stand up table, so it would sit high enough on front of the bike just like yours. I had found it not very useful. Hard to reach for stuff and trying to type on the keyboard was pretty much impossible. After moving it around, raising it and lower it. I decided, it wasn't what I wanted. So it converted the desk back to it original set up and moved it to the side of the bike. I found it to work much better. And I don't think I payed a $100 for it.

I'm looking to buy a smart trainer and get into Zwift, mostly to make it easier to stay in shape for those 3 or so months when working out outdoors here in NYC is just too painful, especially the older I get. Cycling is out of the question and even running is just too unpleasant to do regularly. Thankfully it looks like my PC is more than up to the task. It's AMD-based, but comparable to your setup and perhaps even a tad faster in some respects, with a 27" 4k monitor. You've completely got me beat in the flashy department, though, as I've got a boring old metal tower with no RBG LEDs and all that. I just have to pick up a decent Bluetooth dongle as the ones I have are really old and probably not up to it. Oh, and an actual smart trainer. Since it'll just be for winter I'd like to keep costs low and get a wheel-on one, probably the Wahoo Kickr Snap. I hear that it's reasonably quiet as I've got downstairs neighbors.

If you are worry about noise with downstairs neighbors, I would recommend avoiding a wheel-on trainer as the wheel contact with the roller will create a lot of vibration through the floor. I would recommend a direct drive trainer like the Zwift Hub or Kickr Core. zwiftinc.sjv.io/6eq7oQ

@@SmartBikeTrainers Thanks, but they're more expensive than I can afford or justify at this point, and I've heard that the Snap is fairly quiet for a wheel-on trainer. I'll put it on a foam pad for extra quiet and see how that works out. Hopefully I won't get too many knocks on the ceiling below! I was more concerned about my PC being up to it. I guess that I could just install Zwift and see. I assume that it has some sort of "demo" mode to test it?
@SmartBikeTrainers11 ай бұрын
Zwift has a 14 day trial period. So you can give it a try and see how it works on your PC 👍
@kovie916211 ай бұрын
@@SmartBikeTrainers I was actually thinking more of a true demo where it just loops through some simulated ride to give you an idea of what the real thing looks like (insofar as a virtual "rides" are real). But it's kind of moot as whatever setup I have will have to do and I'll take it from there. Just waiting for Amazon's price to go back down to $300 which it was briefly at but went back up to $350 before I could decide that it was the right trainer for me.

Nice setup! Some constructive criticism from a PC nerd: saying you have an “Intel core i5” without also stating the CPU’s generation is pretty meaningless. The speed difference on Zwift between an 8th gen core i5 from five+ years ago and a 13th gen core i5 is huge due to the single core speed improvements Intel has recently achieved , and Zwift frame rates happen to be limited primarily by single core CPU speeds. Of course, other apps like indieVelo, RGT, or MyWoosh may have different bottlenecks compared to Zwift. Enjoy your sweet setup!!!

Appreciate the feedback and will take that into consideration for next time. For reference, this is an Intel 13th Gen Core i5.
