Modified watches sure did get you guys fired up in the comments! There were a lot of comments when I unveiled my modified Rolex purchase last week about the cons of buying a modified watch. A watches primary function is for you to enjoy it. If you like it modified why does the value matter, they are not meant to be sold. They are mean to be worn. The value lies to how much you like it.

These “watch enthusiast” guys just don’t understand that you also can buy a watch to actually enjoy it... I know, it’s a crazy thought but some people do that. Congrats to your first Rolex!

I think the problem is that watch enthusiasts see him wasting his money. The movement should massively imply the total cost of a watch and the movement in this seiko is probably a 30$ movement meanwhile the aesthetic mods amount to a look that already exists in the seiko prospex line with the Seiko samurai blue lagoon. I think Adam can find something he likes even more if he simply uses a little objectivity to pick watches that are pushing a grand in their pricing.

@@solidus1995 It's kind of silly when people think that just because Seiko movements are inexpensive, they suck. I just threw an NH35 on my timing machine to get a baseline before installing it, and I got +1.4s/d with 0.8ms beat error. I'll check the amplitude tomorrow, but that's pretty good for a little custom build. Modding can be super fun!

IMO seikos like that are something that they should add to their lineup. Something more modern, rather than just sticking to the exact same format. Also I’m familiar with Eric’s work and he’s made some incredible pieces.

Adam! Mate! I got my first skx007 built from the ground up last year and absolutely love it! Built it as a homage to the yachtmaster and luckily there is a guy in my city (Aberdeen, Scotland) that builds them! Its an awesome way of getting exactly what u want in a watch as well absolutely unique to you like u say without a massive price tag!! Also congrats on the rolex its a beauty mate! ... I love that you got that sub. I just bought an Explorer 2 with a PVD/DLC coating and absolutely love mine. The fact that it is unique is so much fun. I have gotten a few nicks on the coating, which is totally fine with me. I do love that the appraisal says the coating removes value but that that it would cost $2000 more to replace the coating.

Adam, I love my Panzera Raptor MK1. I purchased it in Aug of 2020 as a Birthday gift to myself. It never leaves my wrist, keeps perfect time, and looks and feels GREAT. Roger was awesome to work with when I was choosing the one I wanted. Because of YOU, I worked with Roger back and forth to decide which one would best fit my needs and wrist. The 42mm is a good choice for me. What ever happened to just buying a watch you love, keeping it forever and hand it down to generations. I'm the guy who emailed you about modding and LumeShot, and I'm delighted you like his work as much as I do, he shows that watch brands aren't the only ones who can knock a design out of the park! Keep up the great channel content.... oh, and why not persuade Producer Michael to do a video in German? I'm convinced his style and personality would make him a huge hit in Germany - when I lived there, you'd call his style (jokingly) 'Shicki Micki' - think David Hasselhoff in 1988. It is still very popular - and if Michael did a Hollywood house tour in German for that market, you might just engage an entirely new segment of viewers. Anyway - keep it up!

I think it destroys the watch when you modify it. Painting a Rolex black I can not understand. But now it's not me who bought it or will wear it. It is you! Awesome to find out you’re a seiko fan & I also follow Eric (he’s a wizard!) They are very underrated & often get snubbed by ‘real watch collectors’ but like you I don’t care! I’ve owned (and daily worn) the orange Diver SKX011J for over 20yrs now. I swapped the supplied rubber & jubilee straps for a seiko oyster about 10yrs ago and never looked back 😁

I'm sure whether you own an original submariner or a custom submariner you'd be equally happy with your timepiece. I really like your black watch I would prefer it dark Purple instead of black with the same yellow numbers on bezel. or if every link was a different color that would be crazy. your seikos cool it has a seamaster / deepsea vibe I checked out his store. this is such an authentic channel, im not even here for the watches. :D

Well done Adam, I like the Seiko. The Seiko 200m divers watch was always the everyday status symbol in my extended family when I was younger. Don't worry about the critics, they'll always be around. It's your money and you have to be happy with what you're buying. Very good value for money and reliable watches compared to the expensive Swiss ones on the market.

When I lived in Switzerland, I got to know quite a few in the watch industry. Basically, with Rolex, you are paying for the name. It is a £500 watch with an enormous mark-up. Rolex make about 1 million watches a year, they are mass produced.

As a watch collector for many years my advise would be to buy what you like, whether its custom, modified etc as long as it is not fake or replica !! This hobby is very emotionally, you have buy what you would like and not what you think other people would like. They not investments, they are expensive toys. Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them. Ps. Who cares what other people think. As long as you like it. Btw, I love seikos too and recently have been collecting them too. I've got a Seiko that I had modified. Changed the bezel, added a ceramic bezel insert, double domed sapphire crystal, rubber strap, and mercedes hands...I absolutely love the watch

I think my dad is the ultimate watch modder. He traded his tag for a pepsi years ago ( my uncle wanted his original tag back). Well the bezel faded a few times and pissed him off so he swapped it to black and wears it daily. I tried schooling him on his foul up but he didn't care. He likes the black bezel and will never sell it.

Mate 100%! Just enjoy it! That’s what it’s for! It’s a tool watch to be worn & enjoyed! Too many supposed watch fans get caught up in the whole resale thing. That’s not what watch ownership is about! I got my Batman GMT in 2014 and first few weeks in I was in my office cubicle and leaned back to stretch... consequently hitting the watch on the shelf behind me. Many, many swear words later my mate consoled me - “hey, every mark tells a story!”. Keep that in mind when it happens, Adam :)

Great video Adam. It goes without saying “ignore negative comments from negative people”! Taste is a very personal and subjective thing, your modified Rolex is amazing, but the really important thing is you love and enjoy it. I am still working towards my fist Rolex, but have a collection of Seiko’s. It’s not about the money, it’s about having passion for what you do purchase. Keep up the great content. I have the Orient Ray ll Divers and the Orient small seconds dress watch. They really are nice watches and are as reliable as Seiko. ...Keep up the good work. ✌️🙂
