Seiko Modding has changed my whole approach to building my collection. I’ve got some nice pieces but none of them invoke as much pride and passion as my modded Seiko. It’s taken my interest away from a lot of stuff I’d have spent a lot of money on and got less enjoyment from. I’ve got a more intimate connection with the watches I’ve modded than I think I could get from any higher end thing. Hard to describe with words but I love it.

Besides buying mods, I think more people should try their hand at it! My skx broke a few months back while I was doing some manual labor. I took it as a chance to mod it! New movement, new bezel new ceramic insert, new crystal! But most important of all, I aligned the chapter ring myself!

Just bought 2 modded Yachtmasters - a blue face and a gold / black ceramic with rubber strap. I love them! Especially knowing I’m getting 80+% of the look of the real thing for 2% of the price. One thing that no-one mentions is that it’s a great way to find out if I want to own the real thing without spending tens of thousands: does it fit my lifestyle, is it too heavy, do people notice (no), would I be safe wearing the real thing? I’ll probably buy half a dozen of my favourite Rolex mods and see which one I like best. Will have a lot of fun deciding!
@offizielle_twytch6862 Жыл бұрын
Exactly, well said. I have Seiko Samurai SRPE33 & a Seiko Speedmaster Professional mod. Currently looking at Seiko Daytona Tiffany or Rainbow. Knowing that I can't buy these expensive pieces in my lifetime, it nice to buy a modded piece to see what works with the collection/lifestyle without paying out 1000s on the real thing. Also adds a talking point to why you don't have a Rolex etc.

Hello Tristan. This is off course, but I thought you may enjoy it. I was at a themed party ( The Great Gatsby ) hosted by wifes workplace. She works at the Pan Pacific Hotel downtown Vancouver , Canada. Anyway, I'm musing away with the chap to my right and find out he is the number 2 in the kitchen at the Hotel. Having worked in restaurants during my younger days I was interested and we began culinary discussions. Chef, mostly, is speaking and I'm listenning to his career path. When I found it suitable , I interjected and thought it would be astute to tell chef I fancied an English chef with an Italian mother named, Marco Pierre White!!!!! I understand you like his cooking philosophies. Chef let's me go on for a while and to my surprise tells me he worked with Marco years ago and what an experience it was etc etc. I cant say I remember all the discussion with the vino flowing and all , but I recall Chef saying Marco was huge and quite the presence. Anyways - thought you may enjoy a Pierre White story Tristan. Kind regards Jason

Great video, I just started modding recently and I'm just finishing my first watch. Parts procurement is a big factor, you can wait a month and a half for a Captain Willard dial or almost a month for the perfect strap out of Finland. Parts for a nice build can run $400 and up and things like alligator straps with deployment buckles with machined parts can run $300 or more if you want to go with a "bund" or cuff strap. My first watch will cost $600 all in, the strap was expensive and I got the best everything. I have parts on the way for 4 more. My advice: spend money on the strap or bracelet, Ebay stuff is terrible looking, that rubber strap you got for $20 looks like it cost ten bucks and the spring bars don't fit. Be unique but not too colorful, lot's of mods I see look like pride parades on your wrist. A good watch should be utilitarian but classy, burly dive watches work nicely and still attract attention.
