Back in the eighties, my Dad came back from the Philipines and handed me a Pepsi Seiko from the seventies. At first I was mystified because I always avoided watches and this thing was huge! Ten years later I still proudly bore it on my right arm. I've since had three of them and now none on hand...and I miss it. Thank you, sir, for revive an old love - time pieces.

I bought my skx013 and sold my orient mako. No regrets whatsoever, trying to wear a watch that doesn't fit just doesn't work. My wrist is 6.75 and the 13 fits great. I am modding mine with the newer hacking hand winding movement. Love this watch.

The lume on the second hand is only there to let you know the watch is still working, if you're planning dives to the second you're crazy.

A few months ago I replaced my SKX009 with a 013 because I found the 009 too large. I noticed a few differences between your SKX013 and mine that I think might be a resuIt of the modding. I think yours has an after-market bezel insert. Mine has hardlex covering the pip. Also the "Diver's 200" is more orange on mine, yours looks entirely red, but that could be a manufacturing difference. I wear mine on a Strapcode oyster bracelet with a Marine Master clasp ( both of which are great). This is the only midsize diver I could find under $250, and the only midsize diver I could find anywhere with a day complication, so I'll probably keep it for life. Incidentally, after replacing my SKX009, I found myself missing having the Pepsi color scheme, so I got an Orient Mako. I probably won't ever get a Pan Am Rolex anytime soon. There should be a solar version of the SKX009J ..... just think about it for a minute . I'm a devoted fan of Solars and Eco Drives . I normally hate mods with all my heart but yours is simply a sight to behold . Thanks for showing it .

6 weeks ago I bought the SKX 013 from Monsterwatch in the Netherlands. I had it upgraded with sapphire (sadly no double dome was available in its size), and an Oyster bracelet. I am happy as a pig in shit! This watch is beautiful, functional and really well made. Even my brother (who owns a Rolex Submariner) was a bit jealous. It´s so precise... Less than 5 seconds a day too fast. Seiko definitely rules. BTW, I also own a Mamiya C33 Twin Lens Reflex camera from the early 60s. The lenses (3 of them ) are equipped with Seikosha (Seiko) shutter mechanisms. They still run perfectly after all these years without any repair or revision. How about that?

Love your SKX. The modded hands look terrific, really like the bold look of the red minutes hand, very striking and, as you mentioned, matches with the red text on the dial. Very elegant look. I have a 7002 which as I'm sure you're aware has a very similar design to the SKX. Mine is modded with blue Plongeur style hands and blue bezel which creates a fantastic look. It's become my favorite piece in my collection and I still find myself constantly gawking at it in admiration. These Seiko divers are truly marvelous timepieces with unmatched style and sophistication, especially given their affordable pricing.

I picked up a 4205-015K a few months ago becuase I was looking for something that serves better as a daily beater than a 009 does (well one I want to keep in good condition). You are spot on in this video, even for someone with big wrists it wears nice, goes well with most nylon and leather natos.

I always found the SKX007 way to big (even on my 6.85" wrist). This "little" watch is a pure gem : not only it fits me way better but the entire shape of the watch is better drawn. I love how the pretty long lugs (compared to the watch width) makes the silhouette thin and gives presence on the wrist. People say the SKX013 is too thick for its width but that's what i actually like. It feels like wearing an unbreakable cute little tank ;) The only reproach i can do, and it's not visible here because of your mod is the hands shape and quality. I much prefer the SKX007 hands shape design, plus the SKX013 hands seem to be made in cheap aluminium. I am looking forward to mod them when i can. For information (if this affects any of your viewers) I went ultra cheap on a TEVISE T801 "Submariner" copy (GearBest - £13 UK !!!!). I mean what can you lose for £13? Answer - You can lose £13....it broke after 1 month. The hands became unlinked from the crown/winder (Stripped gear) You get what you pay for. Buy cheap buy twice. Listen to Urban Gentry's recommendations and buy quality. The SKX will cost 10x the price but last 1,000x as long

Definately makes more sense to you! The 7000 series divers are a real legend, and owning myself a modded versios of the 7002 (red dial, as I shown on WWC`s on the FB group before) I think they are a great way to put a little bit of yourself in a watch!

Great video! Love the subtle differences in the new modded SKX. I think it makes for such a fun little piece. A diver is one of two pieces really missing from my collection right now (along with a chrono, buy I've decided that the Omega Speedmaster is the only chrono I ever want to own). If the 007 and 009 are being discontinued, I'll have to add one of them before the price jumps.

I have just been amazed again by Seiko accuracy. I have had my SRP615 on now for 5 days and it has fallen a whopping 4 seconds behind. After 2 days it was still within 1 second. That's a 4R36 movement, 140 € watch. Of course they are not all this good. That 013 is a nicer size for an everyday watch. I suppose large size is useful, if you actually dive, but otherwise it just makes the watch less comfortable. Dive watches aren't my favorite kind personally. I find that a rotating bezel should have something else than minute markers, because you can use any rotating bezel for timing as long as it has some clear marker. Also, unidirectional bezel and screw down crown are necessary for diving, but make everyday use just a bit more difficult. And the big fat lume marks are good underwater, but look a bit clumsy IMO. But for those, many, who like divers for everyday use, that is a very good watch at a very decent price. That Breitling is a beauty. Of course it's a bit risky to buy an old watch that expensive, you never know what has been done to it. The seller may not know either. I have seen pretty depressive things inside old watches that have been serviced by a watchmaker with lower standards than you would want. That is less likely in a high end watch though.

If you like this one, the SKX031 is very like it but with the crown at 3 o'clock. I have one I got used from ebay for 90€ and it's a fitting companion to my skx 007. I use the 007 when wearing casual "modern" street gear (fatigues and denim, etc), the 031 with more refined casual clothes and a SSA275J1 for dress. I like Seiko a lot since I have lived in Japan they remind me of that glorious time. Thanks for the channel your videos are very pleasant. :)

My four month old SKX009j has just thrown a wobbler and decided that the day function no longer needs to work, it's out of sync with the date and can't be altered by the crown. Bought it from skywatches, came with a signed guarantee card, I hope Seiko UK honours it when I send it back to them.

That breitling Chrono at the start, is the same movement as a Valjoux 7733, just re branded. So tons of watches available with the same movement....FYI I love the channel. Keep it up.

Looks like the 013 has the Flighty seconds hand as well. This watch really speaks to you I'm sure. Seiko has also tried to incorporate that handy flat spot on the bottom of the case in between the lugs to allow clearance for straps.

I think the sKX is a great choice but if you re used to a 42mm Hammy, I would go with the SKX007, it wears like a 40mm/42mm and you can get a jubilee with it. I was looking at an Article about Seiko watches in movies including the Robert Redford one you mentioned SKX007. Robert Redford also wore a Seiko 7A28-7049 in the movie Sneakers. James Bond (Roger Moore) wore Seikos in Octopussy, For Your Eyes Only, Moonraker and a View to a Kill and also 1971 Seiko 6105-8110 -Martin Sheen wore in Apocalypse Now,

Still watching these vids for some reason even though I've been excluded from the FB group, despite trying to rejoin a few times, for having the audacity to not fall in line with the almost sycophantic praise of GS - still can't believe the abuse I got for my opinions which I'm quite entitled to. As for the SKX and it's forebears, of which I've had many versions going back to my first in 1986, bought the same day as my first Sub incidentally (SKX in The Strand, Sub in Harrods), well it's been hard to find anything I've ever preferred wearing over the last thirty years, including my Subs if I'm honest. Bought a new Turtle PADI a few weeks ago but I still prefer the SKX, think I might experiment on the Turtle now as I really like the subtle mods on your new reduced version, already replaced the bracelet with a Hirsch sailcloth with orange stitching so it could end up looking quite special - I have to leave the SKX as it is though, after thirty years it just wouldn't feel right looking down and seeing it modded.

Yes, it would look good as the fashion for smaller watches is gaining momentum. I only have 6" wrists so the 013 is great for me, however if I had 7" wrists like you, I would probably go for the standard size.

Great pickup! I've been wanting the smaller SKX for a long time now. As you know, we both have slight wrists and this would fit me like a glove. As others have said, don't sell the original SKX. (Yes, I know the lack of wrist time and redundancy will drive you crazy, I can hear it in your voice already. You want to sell it.) What you'll get back for selling the SKX won't be worth it.

Love your new 013! So you are selling the 009? I'll be honest, is a little sad. I would cry if I had to sell my 007. And I'm serious, genuine tears, LOL. Just a question, did you buy the Strapcode Super Jubilee or the original Seiko's one? I bought from Strapcode the Super Oyster (since I prefer a more sporty look) and it's FANTASTIC. Beautiful watch and great video. I had a question; I noticed on the day wheel Seiko denoted Thursday as "IIII" versus "IV." Is there a reason they didn't use the normal Roman numeral designation of "IV" for "four"?

Nice mod on the hands. The mismatching borders on the dial markers and the hands always bothered me a little bit about these skx's. And I though the medium sized skx's were the same size lug to lug as the larger ones. Dammit, I was settled on buying a Laco, but this watch plus the matching hands looks good.

You should check out the SKXa65k. It's a limited edition version of the 009. They only made 2999 of these. You can get it only in Thailand. Just picked it up last week. It's an awesome timepiece!

Second sweeping hands differences as well as case dimensions. Also the minute hand is slightly different looking.

Would love a video on the seiko mini turtle, I know dimensions look a bit large for smaller wrists but it wears small and beautifully!
