@@DadLifeFishingAdventures I use the EverStart 27DC deep cycle from Walmart. It’s cost efficient, but heavy.

@@live2fishofficial Thanks that was what I was leaning to. My kayak came with a little 35 AH battery that isn't going to cut it on the longer days. Really wish lithium was affordable do to weight though.

I tried without the rudder did not work to good for me. Once I added the rudder and stabilized the motor to just go straight it worked really well. I take mine in the local harbors. Nice set up. 👍👍

Thanks. Yes it worked best just steering with rudder for me as well. It's great for power fishing .

@@DadLifeFishingAdventures ya I just don't really know if I want side mount. It seems like a snaggy situation and may make tracking straight difficult. I could be wrong. The motor guide xi3 looks great but costs alot

@@jordanwalter2447 That could work on the bow or stern with the quick release plate. Just the initial deploy and pulling it up would be tricky.

It puts out a wake and I would guess it will be in the 3 to 4 mph. That will have to be a test for later. It is fast enough to make you question your sanity.

Very nice setup. I put my 24lb motor but I did not use sonar pod. I'm very happy now. What size and type of battery do you use?

Yeah the 24 lb thrust motor will be plenty. I'm so excited about the distance I can travel without being exhausted plus being able to troll. I have a small 35 Ah and large 100Ah deep cycle battery. Switch between them depending on the size of body of water and trip length. They are the Walmart brand batteries.

@@DadLifeFishingAdventures Do you keep DeepCycle in the hatch? I have one 60Ah deep cycle in the hatch (weight 15kg) and it seems to be a bit to heavy as the bow is pushed down a little.

@@PikeStrikeIreland I originally set it up to be in the bow hatch but am moving it behind me especially for the big battery to balance the kayak for the same reason.
