I've had a Trangia Model 25 Storm Cooker since 1974. During my college years I worked summers at a Boy Scout summer camp as a staff member. Between my first and second year of college we had a Foreign Exchange Scout from Sweden. He brought his Trangia Model 25 with him and he showed me how well it worked, so I bought one. It has been one of the best investments I ever made! Over the years I have bought a few accessories for my set including a cutting board/pot strainer, an insert for using solid fuel (Esbit type), the Trangia alcohol fuel bottle (it has a great stopper that allows a person to pour fuel without spilling), an extra burner, and a winter adapter. The winter adapter helps the alcohol burner bloom faster in extreme cold, and comes with an aluminum plate that allows a person to put the cook set directly on the snow yet keeps the heat from the kit from melting the snow and sinking into it. In warmer weather I can use the winter kit plate to eat from (or I leave it home, if I'm concerned about weight). I've made hundreds of meals from my storm cooker from one side of the country to the other, plus Alaska (when I lived there) and Canada. It shows some dings and dents from the 49 years I've owned and used it, but the original burner still works as good as it did the day I bought it. This is a kit you can use to actually cook, and not just heat water. I bought a second burner so, if I'm cooking something that needs to simmer for a long time, I can remove the hot (but empty) burner, and replace it with a cold, freshly filled burner without the food cooling off. I replaced the simmer ring from my original burner with the new style simmer ring (which works much better). I don't know exactly how long a burner full of fuel will simmer with the simmer ring cranked down, but it is a darned long time. I seldom need to switch burners unless the food has to cook for several hours. By the way, Trangia calls these kits "Storm Cookers" for a reason! The wind screen setup with these is very windproof and I've used mine in winds that would make most outdoor stoves totally useless. Trangia makes dozens of different models of the Model 25 and Model 27 Storm Cookers. Go to the Trangia web site to see the kits and accessories they make. There may be other on-line stores that sell accessories and kits, but campsaver.com seems to show the most I've seen. I have often bought accessories by looking them up on the Trangia web site, then searching for that specific item on Amazon. Sorry this post is so long, but I tend to be pretty windy once I start typing.

I bought a second non stick frying about 10 years ago, which I've not used yet! Brass can react (galvanic corrosion) with aluminium especially in damp conditions. To minimise the risk of the this I'd advise you isolate the brass burner by keeping it in a plastic bag when storing it in the kettle.

Great video, thanks! The Trangia is advertised as a "Stormcooker". And that's no lie. I have used it for 30 years plus in heavy winds and temperatures around 0° Celsius in Northern Scandinavia. It works just great and is worth every ounce it weighs more than a so called modern lightweight cooker. Some additional recommendations perhaps: in addition to the traditional alcohol burner, which is nicely silent but lacks power in harsher conditions, they offer an alternative gas burner, a real hellfire under all conditions but severe frost (you can also adapt petrol burners for subzero conditions). And as an alternative to the standard pots and pans, which are simple aluminum, they offer duossal (outside aluminum, inside stainless steel) and non stick versions, which can be nicely combined. And since last year you can buy an awesome deep pan instead of the normal one. I love it.

I love my Trangia (Actually pronounced Trang-yuh). I have been using mine for 20some years and have multiple of every model they have. I am their #1 rated customer... Seriously, you can ask them :) The brass piece is the burner, not the stove. The bottom windshield is the piece that the brass burner sets in and then you add the top windshield to make the complete "stove". The 25 series stoves come with kettles also... The reference numbers that are even (-2, -4, -6, -8, -0) all come with kettles in the 25 series and the 27 series stoves. They are not "Storm kettles'", those are the Kelly Kettles. The Trangias are known as "Stormcookers" :) **Yours is actually, the base model 27-2 UL. Very nice set, enjoy it!!!!

The 25 is decent dude. The 27 is allegedly for two people but from experience the 25 is much better. You should look out for the accessories - they really make the Trangia incredibly versatile. They can use an alcohol burner, gas stove or a hexi/gel block burner if you get the right accessory. There is also a Billy can pot that everything fits into. Very solid bit of kit - definitely one of my better purchases.

I used my 27 every day for a 3 month bike tour, cooking real food every night, no "just add water: packs. It is slower than many modern gas burners but that was not a disadvantage for me. I cooked up a 3 course steak dinner on one occasion. Safe and easy to use, hard to tip, controllable. I set the stove and kettle up for morning coffee. One batch of German alcohol was too concentrated and caused a boil over. Never test new fuel indoors. Adding a few drops of water will tame rocket fuel.

The Trangia burner is my absolute favorite! I have butane and propane stoves. But, use the Trangia most of the time. The cook sets have been refined over the decades. Very well thought out. Wind screen works great. For me the whole set is to big for one person. Two people, longer stay, more elaborate cooking, car camping, great choice!
@maxlutz36748 ай бұрын
nice video about the cook set. The 25 is the bigger one. The 27 is smaller but big enough for 1 or 2 people. The actual content is indcated by a number after a dash. Both are available with a kettle. I have a 25 and 27 both in Duosal and with a kettle and a multidisk. I am really happy with them. For shorter outings I just fill up the stove and do not need to pack extra fuel (YMMV). It is worth mentioning that spare parts and replacements are easily available. That´s anice thing when you wore down or melted the seal.
@davidf48974 ай бұрын
The 25 will work for 2-3 people. The smaller 27 for 1-2, depending on what you are cooking. Both sets have an option with kettle. The pan or skillet is a bit of a pain to clean after a fry up, A lot of people swap.this out for the non stick version. You can also get a gas converter ( either Trangia's own or a much cheaper but just as effective third party copy), which speeds up.cook time, but is quite noisy. I highly recommend you source the Trangia pot stand. Expensive for what it is, but it will allow you to use smaller diameter coffee pots or mugs. If you like stews I'd recommend buying the non stick saute pan to replace the skillet. Same diameter but with deeper sides. I have my Trangia 30 years this summer, and one of the pleasures is adding to the set to customise to suit you. Still going strong ans still my favourite cookset. Good video and review. Enjoy my friend.

Hi Blackie, I was wondering which stove kit is larger; the Trangia 25 is larger, the Trangia 27 is smaller and is designed to handle 1-2 people. They both have the Tea Kettle as an option, along with a Cutting Board/ Strainer. There’s also an Iso-Butane Burner that clips into the hole for the Spirit Burner. The Gas Burner is made by Primus for Trangia, a hose feeds out of a hole in the side of the base of the stove and threads into a fuel bottle, or can.
@MINKIN26 ай бұрын
If you still have it, you should use the yellow plastic bag that the burner came in for storage. Not only can the brass react with the aluminum but it prevents any any leaking of fuels into the kettle. A zip lock bag will be fine for the moment, the the yellow bags are made of higher quality plastic that is less prone to perishing when in contact with the fuel. If you don't have it, then Trangia do sell replacement bags for them, as they do with every other component of the trangia cook sets.
