What on earth is there to ‘dislike’ about Andy’s vids!?!?.. He shares his knowledge when others charge to go on their courses & here it all is wrapped up & delivered for free on whatever device you chose to watch it on & at a level that anyone can follow... just saying ;-).. Like you all I find Andy’s work enjoyable to watch & relaxing. 😀

Trangia: Always a good robust back up stove! My brother bought me mine when I was about 20, I am now 57 and it is still in excellent condition and working just perfectly. Maybe add a small Nalgene bottle of cooking oil to the kit. It always helps in case you forget to pack some with other food items. I also always have some tea or tea bags in with any stove just in case!! Thanks for another nice little film.

When I miss Japan, it is often a food memory that triggers the feeling. I love and miss Japanese cuisine. Sharing a meal makes people like each other or as the feel closer with strong bond. Eating the same food leads to trust and cooperation because they feel closer with the feeling of intimacy among those eating together, share the experience with eating and drinking.

If you make a habit of strapping the strap around the fuel bottle immediately after you open up the kit, you maximize the chance you'd not lose the strap.

I highly recommend the British mtp camo respirator bag as an add on. It fits the 25 but I’m sure it would work with the 27 as well. It would offer you ample space inside to store all of your utensils and tools. The exterior pouches are great for storing fuel bottles. The bag comes with a shoulder sling which makes walking with the kit easy and it frees up your hands. I have a video about it… it’s an old video and due for an update.

Bringing back a lot of good memories of canoe trips. My main cook set for them was a Trangia 27. It would handle any trip from a few days to a month and cooked a lot of fresh fish along with steaks. The Trangia and all my food was in a Rubbermaid Action packer and still is. It's a ideal system for keeping everything waterproof and even to cook on. .

Smart move "deglazing" the pan while it was still hot. That's the best way to clean it. If you wait until it's cold, you'll spend time scrubbing and will end up removing more than just stuck on food. It'll ruin any non-stick surface you've built up. Great job, Andy! Love your vids.

good on you andy, for giving more inspiration! the trangia is always a good reliable bit of kit, never fails, and as far as adding anything to the set-up,maybe a few scrapes of kindling? as in the winter [although it rarely gets to -10 here] it may take a bit longer to get going...add that extra bit into the alcohol and light up... and just a note on wild garlic-a very delicious and nutritious native plant it is... but can people please be sure to properly ID it before eating it! as the Convallaria majalis, also known as lily-of-the-valley, often grows alongside and has quite similar leaves before flowering and can be DEADLY TOXIC ! be sure and be safe

Great job Andy! For a suggestion, I like to include a second burner with my kit (I have the larger Duosal). If your kettle can take it, add the second brass burner. This is handy when you exceed your 20 minute cook time, you can swap in the burner with fuel very rapidly. If you add your Bushbox flat at the bottom of the Trangia bag, you can have two burners on the go at once if required.

My favorite cook system tbh mate ai have the 25 and 27 an gas and multi fuel burners too, other than what you have I also added the trangia plate which nests to the bottom of the kit and as well as a plate can be used as a second fry pan or a lid to the first fry pan to make a mini Dutch oven of sorts. Usede trabgias since I was a kid when at junior school and we'd go on day trips hiking and teacher would bring trabgias and sausages n buns for our lunches, 3 kids to a. Trangia, about 7 of them set up. Solid systems, a little heavy but super versatile.

In my view, you really can't beat the Trangia system. Safe, efficient and comprehensive. The cutting board is a must. As with all good cooks, like the way you take trouble with prep. I've found that it's always a god policy to take two burners as - like you say - with a long-time cooking session, refilling a hot burner is a no-no. That meal got me envious and salivating big time. Great result.

Had one about 20 years ago, only have the burner now, the kettle died about 4 years ago ( become porous and dribbled from the bottom ) the only extra I used on it was a small cast iron skillet, better heat distribution, well that's my penny's worth, back to fixing land rovers and welding offroad camper trailer.

Keep making the vids I'll keep watching. I'm struggling to get out at the minute, no access to local woodlands etc so your videos keep me in touch with the wild 👍
