I’m thinking tsl super swamper ltbs if your wanna do a good mix of mud and trail and I’d also try chopping the box if it’d already in rough shape, shorten it up and you’ll have a better departure angle. I have a Detroit locker in my 1969 chevy 3/4 ton four wheel drive. It came stock. And it is tough as nails. But you can't turn very well when on the throttle. If you are going to race with turns, I would suggest an air locker. My cousin runs air lockers on his landcruiser and he likes them. He has been on some decently tough trails like the Rubicon. My Detroit locker works excellent for me with work, play, deer hunting, mild four wheeling etc. I still run a dana 44 up front and the stock 4:56 gears. Also 35" tires. Good luck with your new truck, the El Camino looks awesome!

got a bed for ya, off an 84 chevy k20, but also know of where plenty are with minimal rust in CO! Also detroit the rear and air locker the front that way you make it simple and be able to steer while the locker is off to set up on the track!

All these new parts / mods for the K20 and nothing about building more power? Last time I remember this thing mudding / wheeling, it barely spun the 37s. Your going to re-gear it and put bigger tires on it with the same engine? In my humble opinion, a bit more HP would be recommended. Love the truck other than that tho, keep it up.

MAKE SURE YOU CAN FIT 15'S ON THE K20! Being a 3/4 ton with the big drums in the rear, you may not be able to fit a 15-inch wheel over the current brake setup.

I’m not sure if you can find them, but look for BF Goodrich Baja Champion Mud Terrain KM2’s or KM3’s. I haven’t done any research and I don’t know if they make 40R15’s, but if they do, I highly recommend it. I have the KM2’s on my truck and they’re 10 years old with 95 percent tread and a few nipples still on them. Now, my truck wasn’t drove much in those 10 years, but for as old as they are, they have little to no dry rot. They’re an all around excellent tire. The treads aren’t crazy huge like a mud truck, but they’re not small either. They’re perfect if you want to run trails or take it through holes.

Jared. On the bed, look for ans early 90s stepside bed, from a 1500, and a pair of side panels. Graft them into an 8 foot stepside. The new bed looks killer on a square body, and would give your mudder a unique look. On a factory bed, check Desert Valley Auto Parts, in Chandler AZ. Got a lot of square body parts for friends there, over the years, as well as for my 73 F 250, that was my daily for years, and then became our mud runner. They might even have an 8 foot, late 60s or early 70s step side there, as they made some up to 1972.

I put ARB air lockers in my 97 jeep and it was the best thing ive done. its worth the money, But I think since your truck will be mostly off road I suggest put a spool in the rear and an air locker up front so you can turn easier and only use the locker when you need it.

Yukon manual lockers for the front, the ones ive got have been reliable for years for me. And the type of tire really depends on what youre going to be doing, 40' makes sence for offriad use, but swampers would only be good for mud pits.

Also you need to put manual lockers if you can find em. Best for extreme offroading in my opinion. Not much at all to go wrong and simple to instal. Also. Should do a custom wood flat bed.

Some ideas I have for the k20 are with the rear axle and the front Dana 60 I recommend a grizzly locker and for tires I suggest interco super swamper cobalts and maybe throw a roll bar in the back with some KC lights on there and maybe deck out the front a little with some led lights on the bumper or something. Just some suggestions
