Hey Brandon, nice collection. For DQ IX, I did play it without going online once, so you can play solo quite well :) Also I been looking at my collection here some suggestion that you could look into to add to your! Luminous Arc 2, The Legend of Legacy, Sands of Destruction, Suikoden Tierkreis and if you like dungeon crawler really look into the Etrian Odyssey series!

Thank you! I've definitely for Luminous Arc 2 on my list, hoping I can find it for a good deal..🤞

DQ9 is not just multiplayer game. It has multiplayer components. It barrows traits from the MMO where you can make your own character and go on a grand adventure it has a great end game where friends can join you and you tackle treasure dungeons that have all of the bosses from previous DQ games. I really loved the title and if you can find someone to play those dungeons with you it's so much fun. I beat the main story but that post game was insane so I never saw all the treasure dungeons and the bosses. Don't be worried about the multiplayer thing you can completely ignore it. I honestly wish they would have reintroduced those mechanics in some new Dragon Quest games because it would make for a great time to go on a DQ Adventure with your friends.

Oh Avalon Code & the Luminous Arc games are ones that are high on my list to find. It's crazy how expensive some of these titles are on the DS nowadays, especially the Dragon Quest remakes 💀
@JustTheGems Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I saw the DQ games’ prices recently, and MAN… I’m lucky I grabbed them when they were only PRETTY expensive.

PAL is usually also Europe region. Awesome selection of Nintendo JPRG games!

Oh right, PAL covers that whole territory, you’re right. Thank you so much, I appreciate it!

Awesome collection Branden! The DS is such a good system 🙏 Luminous Arc 2 was my first tactical RPG and I adored it! I remember being very impressed with the story. There were lots of twists and turns that I thought were wild (but I was also about 12, so take that with a grain of salt I guess?) Also, I think Pegi is just the UK? Or at least, we have a different one in Australia! 😄
@JustTheGems Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mandy! I'm keeping my eye out for Luminous Arc 2, hopefully I can snag it before the price goes even higher. Also thanks for filling me in on the Pegi thing.😁

Great video as always. I can’t wait till you play Bower’s Inside Story and Magical Starsign. You’ll love both of them. The way I’m getting through my DS/3DS backlog is playing while I’m sitting on the couch watching tv.

Thank you! Yeah, I like having handheld options so I can hang out on the main floor and not be sequestered in the basement 😅

as for ds jrpgs in general, you should definitely check out Infinite Space, unique epic space jrpg that sadly didn't make much of an impact upon release. well worth the time, great game imo.

Fun collection, loved that you saved the GOAT for last lol Was looking at the collection on the back wall too, someone get this man Quarantine STAT Thanks for the vid.
@JustTheGems Жыл бұрын
YES PLEASE! I’m so desperate to track down Quarantine. Of course, the moment I do (and pay $350 for it) they’ll announce a remastered collection for modern platforms. This is my curse. 💀

Really glad to see Radiant Historia in your collection! ✨ If I may suggest, try checking out Rune Factory series. The first 3 games are on ds and the most playable out of the 3 is the third entry RF3 (which had a remaster as Rune Factory 3 Special coming out on switch this Sept. 5 2023!), Rune Factory 4 is also on 3ds and is the best in the series, it was also remastered on switch as Rune Factory 4 Special. There's also Rune Factory Frontier for Wii and Rune Factory Tides Of Destiny/Oceans for Wii/PS3. Definitely check Rune Factoru games out!!!
@JustTheGems Жыл бұрын
Yes! I'm grabbing the Special versions as they come out, and I also have Tides of Destiny as well. I'm hoping to get to them soon!

Great collection video! Lots to unpack because there were just so many games!!! Curious your take on Rhapsody since I didn't like it very much actually - I even got rid of it LOL. Also, I want to get to Dragon Quest IX at some point, I think you can just play it single player so I'll give it a shot sometime in the future. I plan on playing every one of them!
@JustTheGems Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I've definitely heard mixed things on Rhapsody, so I'm curious how I'll respond, too. I expect there will be cringe...😂

About Dragon Quest 9, I personally played it 100% single player for the first time a couple of years ago and I had a lot of fun. The only real difference between this and any other Dragon Quest game in my opinion is that you have to create your own party members instead of them being already established charaters. These party members don't say anything and don't have any character development, so a lot of people see this as a big flaw to these games as single player RPGs. Me personally, while I'd rather have the pre-established characters, I had fun customizing all of my team members classes and skills. The customization adds a lot to the combat and it's really addictive to go through the different classes and get skills to help you in other classes. Other than the party system, it has a good story and world just like every other DQ game.

Well that’s really good to hear. Just the fact that it’s fully playable is fantastic. Thanks!

Heroes of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is a DS masterpiece that you’d probably enjoy. Oh, and Advance Wars Days of Ruin/Dark Conflict. Highly recommend those.

You know, I had a DSi, but never a DSi XL. I’ll keep my eyes out. Also, I DO have Etrian Odyssey 4 and 5, I’m hoping to get the 3DS remakes of 1 and 2, and of course I want to grab 3 (and Nexus) at some point too!

Good thing you have the DS version of Rhapsody I wish I had it as I heard the physical build of that game on Switch is kind of broken with some issues like a lot of those Prinny RPG collections are. Unfortunately NIS got somebody who didn't know how to properly port these classic games and they kind of effed up the physical builds. So I not decided if I'll get the new ones coming out on switch or PS4. Hope the port job won't be as bad as the others.
@JustTheGems Жыл бұрын
Oh man, it's sounding like the best way to play that game on an actual TV is with the PS1 version... And that's so expensive!😩
@Phil1Up_Collects Жыл бұрын
@@JustTheGems unfortunately. I would be happy to have that DS copy you had. You have lot more DS games than I do envious of the JRPGs. I guess if you forgo buying modern releases and only buy 1 retro game a month you could sort of rationalize getting the PS1 copy.

hey, just found your channel, loving working through the nacklog...but until then, those Chrono Trigger pixel things behind you...where and how much??? unless theyre awful and you regret buying them
@JustTheGems Жыл бұрын
Oh, those Chrono Trigger pixel characters are made by my wife! And I LOVE them, they're super cool. I just super-glued magnets onto the back of them so they'd stay on the shelf like that. 😅

YAAAAY awesome collection!! I definitely agree with the Final Fantasy IV takes--as much as I love having the DS version, my next playthrough will definitely be Pixel Remaster just because I prefer the pixels! Also Glory of Heracles unlocked a memory--I had completely forgotten about that game, but I have very distinct memories of just always seeing it in Best Buy thinking "why is the Greek anime game always here?"😂 Great, great video!!

Haha, the Greek anime game, I love it! 😂 Thanks Alex!!

Thank you! Yeah, it's always feeling like one of the most solid systems Nintendo has made. Lots of shovelware, sure, but so so many great games too

Oh man do you have options witj tje ds haha. Its still to this day the goated system. For an underrated jrpg id reccomend contact. Also getting all those lives early in new super mario is to help when the levels get harder in the second portion of the game. Ur missing out on probably the best mario kart game by skipping the ds one haha and ghost trick is a serious must play the plot twist in that game left my jaw on the floor

Rhapsody on DS has 3 points in the game where it breaks and the only way to pass it is to start a new game. =(

Oh jeez… Yeah, that’ll be a hard pass from me then. I’ll just play it on the Switch. Thanks for the heads up!
