DFW Honda Powersports in Grapevine Texas knows how to dance like a ballet dancer around Gold Wings with accessories. Mark the Gold Wing Technician is highly organized with a laid out process. Jacob the Service Mgr and his team have a plan. Jacob or Tanner in Service will take an up-close 360 degree video inspection of your bike to ensure you receive you Gold Wing the same condition you dropped it off. Probably better because those cats wipe your bike down too. Top shelf service. BTW..The weather app shows 18 degrees this morning in your neighborhood and 23 here in DFW area as I write this. Best to you Chris.

I guess I'm what you call an average rider. I have a drink holder and a cardo on my helmet to take care of phone calls. the only upgrade I've done to my 1989 Goldwing is added a 12 volt socket and saddle bag light conversion. She's a plain Jane. Bought the bike in 1999. Everything works!! Do my own repairs, just finished rebuilding brake calipers, clutch slave cylinder and replaced rear brake master cylinder.

Hi Chris. I contacted my dealer on the bolt replacement. They have two bikes waiting for the job. I decided to wait until they do a couple first. I saw a video on how to do it. It is doable by the home mechanic. It is just a lot of disassembly.

27 degrees is the lowest I have road in. I'm sure that in the east with the humidity, the cold cuts right thru you.... Appointments... My Honda shop in Orem Utah, used to let you set an appointment for a service. A couple of years ago, they stopped doing appointments. I live 90 miles from the Honda shop. Now if I take my bike up for a service, I have to drop it off (180) miles, and then drive back up to pick it up. I decided I am doing my own services now. Air Filter change out???? Honda engineers hold out the air box with the filter and say, lets design a bike around it.... (quote from Max McAllister from Traxxion dynamics)

I just got my recall notice as well in the last few days, on my birthday no less...lucky me. I've gone ahead and ordered the necessary parts to complete the recall because I don't trust the dealer(s) with any of my vehicles. I do have the advantage of being a master tech with decades of experience and the tools/shop to complete the job. After researching exactly what this repair will take to complete I realized its no worse than doing a clutch, (I have the 6 speed) in fact its exactly a clutch replacement with one extra fastener to replace. I'm guessing many bikes will be flat rated when this repair is performed at the dealer, in other words, remove the "clutch cover/rear cover" zip the bolt out with an impact and zip the new one in, you don't actually have to remove any component other than the cover itself to access the defective bolt, six speed or DCT. That's just my opinion and not a statement of fact, every dealer is different and every job performed is an individual repair but some will be done step by step and some will be shortcutted or in mechanic speak, flatrated.

I just received my bolt recall notice. I have already called about the work at a dealer near me. I think there is very limited Honda technicians available that are trained for this repair. I am still waiting on the dealer to schedule something,. I am concerned about the bolt breaking and destroying the entire engine. I have a BMW RT to ride while this is being repaired so I am not in a hurry, just wanting it fixed correctly.

Regarding the air filter, Max at Traxxion Dynamics did a video about the air filter. He showed a couple filters with different mileage. One had about 10k miles another had 76k miles. Even though the 76k looked a little dirtier it still had great air flow. I changed my filter when I did the suspension (since the bike was torn down). I had 14k miles and replaced it with a K&N filter. So I won’t have to change it for a long time.
@deepsquat6006 күн бұрын
@@2wooooo I have to ask why do you think you won't have to change it for a long time? Is it an oil filter in which case the filter needs to be taken out and cleaned and then re-oiled what makes this filter special that it will last an extra long time if that's the case then it might not be filtering very well
@2wooooo6 күн бұрын
@@deepsquat600 It was not an oiled filter. I would never put one on this bike. It is WAY too labor intensive to change the filter. That is why I went with a better filter, knowing that there has been testing done to show that the filter doesn't need to be changed as often as Honda says. And the testing was shown with empirical evidence.
@chriscaliente50336 күн бұрын
@@deepsquat600 my previous Goldwing air filter was K&N Air Filters that advertised 50,000 miles before needing recharging with oil. Thats a lot better than the Honda OEM paper air filter that doesnt last long so it makes better since to go with a longer lasting air filter like K&N, however I would just replace with a new K&N filter insted of recharging!

With a name of Caliente one would not expect you to get cold at any temperature. I no longer own my Goldwing but truly hope that Honda, which has long been known for its reliability, isn't going to use "recalls" to keep the maintenance folks in the dealerships happy. American car makers did that for a time. It seems a good strategy until the sales start to suffer.

Hey Chris. I don’t trust mechanics. How do you really know that they replaced the air filter, brake fluid or changed your coolant ? They can give it back to you in the same shape that you gave it to them. That’s one reason I hate to have my bike serviced. And are they really qualified to work on a goldwing ? I bought my 2021 gold wing from a dealer that sells Hondas and other brands, so I don’t plan on going there for the recall. I’m In North Carolina, and we only have one Power House Dealer- Honda sales only . And one in Columbia SC. Never been to one.
