I have the same saw. (A Mothers Day present to myself.) I bought it 3 weeks ago from a guy retiring from cabinet making. You have no idea how cool it is for me to know that I have the same saw as you. It's a great saw. I've been trying to figure out how to attach my dust collection hose to it. Now I know. Lol. I also went to UW, in '91, but only for 1 year.

Matthias. I was going to buy a new Delta tablesaw at Lowe's But after researching it. I found out this big beautiful daw had a 13 amp motor in it. Well, I got pissed and asked what is a good tried and true saw for the hobbyist, for cheap. I bought a craftsman 113.298762 It's a newer craftsman but I believe it will do the job. Thanks for your honest videos. They have saved me alot of money and grief. So, thanks again. From Arkansas, USA

I love all 3 of my old Rockwell Beaver saws, and I agree they are way better than most new saws, it's too bad they went with an oddball size blade for them, I can't find anywhere around Edmonton that has them, so I ended up using 8.25" blades in mine.

Glad to see you are wearing something other than moccasins. I too enjoyed wearing moccasins in my youth and am now dealing with with plantar fasciitis in my senior years. There could be a connection but at least you are not wearing those silly flip-flops in the shop which offer no protection for your feet. Correction; protection for your "meter" in metric land. ;- Sure wish the U.S. would join the rest of the world with their logical measuring system.

Matthias, watching you struggle getting the saw table out of your trailer makes me wonder what's overhead. Are the joists (or roof trusses or whatever) exposed? If so, a come-a-long, block & tackle, or other hoist would be a big help lifting that sort of thing.
@matthiaswandel
@matthiaswandel 7 жыл бұрын
With the 16' ceiling, it's not really practical. Because I wouldn't want something dangling down that far all the time, and it would be way more hassle putting it up and taking it down than it was to move the saw.

Love your videos Matthias, I've found your channel (or was it a website) probably around 2005 and got hooked immediately :) You now have enough headroom and a flat floor just begging for a small gantry crane. Two A shaped side frames with an I-beam or something similar in between. When not in use it can be parked over the table or a workbench and not waste any space. You already have the welder, it should be a straightforward job.
@wesley115777
@wesley115777 7 жыл бұрын
Well, I envy you the tall space you have. However, there could be many ways to get around the "dangle" issue. Maybe you don't move enough heavy items to think it's worth the effort, but having worked in shops with an overhead hoist, well, I'll just say I miss having one. Another approach to moving heavy stuff is something like Frank Howarth's "Wooden Gantry Crane" (posted under that title about a year ago). An overhead hoist would much easier/cheaper, though.
