It can go either way Lex, technically the guy who showed AK has to muck his hand. Keep playing well and don’t look into the flopped sets too much, soon the variance will be in you’re lap.

In regard to TT vs AK where he exposed his cards, I’d probably offer to call and just check it down to gamble for the pot.

This is what I’d do. I’m gonna call in that situation anyway so just agree to check it down and see the runout. Keeps it interesting and is still fair and he won’t complain if he misses and you won’t complain if he hits.

Yo Lex, the end of this video had a pretty big effect on me. Thank you for being so open to your following about mental health, travelling not having a home base. Hey Lex. I was the guy from Kansas who said hello on Saturday night at Bellagio. I appreciate the effort you put into making and sharing these videos with us, along with the fact that you still take time to chat briefly with those of us who are fans of the channel. Good luck with your upcoming games in Texas. And, for what it's worth, chopping the hand with the guy who exposed his cards is definitely the classy thing to do. Best of luck!

I can totally understand how you're feeling. I have put in a ton of hours playing but have never been on the road for more than a week at a time. It's such a grind, and being on the road as long as you have been is not cheap. There are also times where you need a break and to be able to be "home" for that break is important to rest and recharge. Good luck, and take your time with all your decisions. Love the content.

Thanks for sharing Lex. Glad to hear you open up on your experience in your personal life in conjunction with poker and travel. Keep pushing, it sounds like you have very good self-awareness. That’s huge. A lot of times we try and put all of ourselves into something that we want to excel at (KZbin, poker, gym, fill in the blank you get it). It took me a while to realize I was spending roughly 80% of my time awake towards these type of goals and 20% of my time for everything else. That can be taxing, missing out on family, friends, social events, life events, etc. take a look at your time allocation. Even 5% extra in a category that is just for happiness and fun, no monetary gain no work gain…can gain a lot more value back. Just a thought as I went through something similar. Very glad you made that relatable. Keep up the solid work 💪

Hey Lex, great to see you being open about your mental health. Humans are social creatures. Personal interaction is very important to our well being. And not just superficial “table talk”. You should never hesitate to reach out to people when you feel lonely. If you don’t know anybody where you are, find someone with a common interest other than poker (golf, travel, dogs, weight training) and simply say “hey man, I’ve been on the road a while and could use some adult conversation. You want to grab some tacos?” I really think that type of interaction would do you some good. Cheers Brother.

Lex, I was military for 10 years. I definitely understand the hardships of travel away from home for a long time and not having a place to call your own. One thing I would suggest for mental health on these trips is to take a day and do a meetup event. Wine tasting, sky diving, scuba diving, something out of your norm that gets you out and meeting people in the area. That advice is of course for future trips! Love the content, love the plan you laid out, love the honesty, keep on being who you are! Sincerely, Harrison

Nice outro with the mental health stuff and really refreshing to see. Poker is a grind at times and being on the road, sleeping in hotels, away from family/friends is tough even before you take the swings in cash into account. Gambling life is not just an upward curve with no negatives and the perception that that is the norm is what see’s so many unable to cope leading to tragic circumstances

Thanks for the talk at the end Lex! So encouraging to hear successful established pros going through some of the same mindset issues, keeping a productive and healthy schedule has definitely proven a challenge while playing poker 30-50 hrs weekly, but keeping your mind on nothing but poker 24/7 is a downward spiral. Much better to play refreshed and feeling good/happy/healthy

Hey Lex. Love your honesty. Love your vlog analysis that I download some of them while playing or commuting. Sometimes you can run cold turkey at the table. My advice is to change seat, move to another table, or take nice fresh air outside to cool off.

I appreciate the timestamp at the beginning. For that alone, you are my new favorite poker blogger :D (this is my first video of yours I've seen).

My favorite part of these Vlogs is Lex making really determinate confident predictions on what his opponent has depending on how they bet and him just losing money because he is wrong. First hand my opponent doesn't have a set because he didn't bet the turn let me raise their bet he has A J. Snap call shows a set. still love the vlogs though enjoy that you show all the hands and give us a real sense of what it means to be a pro cash game poker player.

Chop against the AK exposed hand is the right thing to do, doesn't hurt either player and also doesn't make you look like an opportunist playing the hand with a massive advantage. Fair play is good play.

I was going to comment this on other vids, but I love the way you put your cards in front of your stack. Sometimes people hide their cards under their hands. (Not always on purpose, I know, but you make it very clear if you are still in a hand.). The pre mature show of cards by your opponent was unfortunate, and could have been a tougher spot (glad you didn’t have KK’s or AA’s). It’s nice to see poker can still be a gentleman’s game with the way you handled that situation.

I travel to Vegas at least twice a year for about 15 years. I love being there but about a week to 10 days is my emotional limit I think. Appreciate the no nonsense honesty about being on the poker grind, it can be tough. Hang in there, and good luck on the felt.

Hang in there brother! I feel your pain. Depression is real. Especially if you don’t have a social connection with loved ones.. and Thanks for sharing. Your routine is going to be key. It is for me. You know what’s best for you! Take a break from poker for a few days. Write out some goals. Life goals, not just poked goals. Include reaching those goals in your routine. Little by little. For me, when so much shit is out of whack it’s easy to just focus on poker but when the session is over - shit is still outta whack, and if the session is bad bc my play is bad - all my problems seem amplified. Pulling for you bro. Keep pushing! 💪🏾
