If you want to try this in your own games, a word of caution: When Aman said "it might be fifty, I don't know", he's talking about the fifty-move-rule: "The fifty-move rule in chess states that a player can claim a draw if no capture has been made and no pawn has been moved in the last fifty moves." It's happened in tournaments, for example when someone can't find checkmate with bishop and knight vs. King. It's purpose is to prevent someone from winning by tiring out their opponent or stalling, much like the threefold repitition I guess. Not critisizing Aman - it's his right to teach his opponent a lesson for showing disrespect, and his opponent looked like a fool letting his clock run out. But in the spirit of said rule, I think you should just checkmate the opponent and move on.

As a viewer, In general I actually do wish there was less resigning in high level chess. I know this comes across as pretentious but back in the day it was more normal to play until Checkmate and unless they're trolling by stalling on time (say by waiting out most of their time before moving for increments) I think that's better, since we actually get to see the checkmate play out. Chess is a game that is both part science and part art, and the actual checkmate being executed is honestly part of the "art" component. That said despite being nostalgic for a more Romantic style of high-level chess, I still side more with Aman in this specific case for two reasons: 1) There is no potential here for an artistic game/checkmate, it's just going through the motions with a passed pawn and a rook. 2) Whether you like it or not, the current norm is for people to resign in completely lost positions, and the opponent here presumably gets to reap the benefits of that as well. So it's only fair to return the favor to other Masters unless that norm changes.

But of course if the winning side starts doing silly shit out of pettiness too it's like the losing side that is already on tilt refuses to resign out of spite extra hard.
