Very sweet video of your orchid collections. I love them all but my two favorites are your paphiopedilums. They are gorgeous and out of this world! You’re so lucky to have those. I have been looking but no luck yet. I have collection of Phalaenopsis, 25 of them and two vandas. They are my happy specially when they re-bloom. I’m not an orchid expert, most of my orchid were gifts to me by friends and my husband. I accumulated them in years. I’m still learning how to take care of them properly. Enjoying your collection of orchids. The Paphiopediums are my favorites. I have a couple. I find there blooms last a good month. Didn't know about them dying back and then a new plant starts again. I am learning through trial and error on my other orchids. Its getting warm now in Texas and start putting orchids and other plants outside. Thank you for sharing.

I'm pretty new to orchids. But I have only had the Phalenopsis orchids, not any different kinds. Two I got myself 3 I got as a gift and one was a colleagues orchid which started me actually on orchids. Because another colleague planted it into plain soil she found in the garden at work. I was so suprised and decided to save it as I knew they needed airy soil and that's as much as I knew about them. Haven't killed any yet. It has a terminal spike so I learned but it grew a baby with me. I struggled at the thought to give it back because I grew attached so I got my own orchid. And then it got out of hand. I want to separate the baby and give it back to her because it is her orchid. I feel bad for holding onto it for so long as well as the mother plant got sunburnt and I didn't know how to tell her . She may not like the mother plant as it got of sunburn on its leaves so I made the leaf problem worse but she still had a baby forming that I'll repot and return so she can learn how to care for it. know she will take one look at the mother orchid and want to throw it away and even though it's a little worse for wear it taught me so much. I wish it didn't have a terminal spike. So I don't mind taking care of it till it's no longer able to live as it's unable to make new leaves. We all have our orchid disaster stories. Would actually be an interesting series.

My favorite orchids are dendrobium, and they do bloom every year, I keep mine on west facing window all the time ( they get sun stress even and leafs become purple )💜💜💜👍

Paphiopedilum orchids are called Frauenschuh orchids in German, Lady Slippers in English. So Frauenschuh means just Paphiopedilum. It is not the actual more specific name like Paphiopedilum Maudiae. Happy Growing.

What a wonderful collection! With the phal, it sounds like you want to keep all the roots, so you can pot it all up in a bigger pot and angle the top better so it’s not leaning so much. There might be some dead roots in the pot so remove those and it should be fine. Paphs are super stunning and their foliage is great! If you can find a Paph delenatii...you should try it cuz the flowers smell rosy! Fragrant and lovely leaves 😁

I enjoyed seeing your beautiful orchids. Your Paphs are lovely! Orchids are so rewarding. You know what, that is a good question about chilli and chilly. I never thought about it. I think they seem so opposite because they're derived from different languages. I think 🌶 Chilli is derived from chili/chile in Nahautl/Spanish, while Chilly 🥶 is an English word.

No don’t cut your orchid, talk with Carolyn she’s an expert on orchids, you will find her on KZbin under Jacolyn orchids. I love your tiny, tiny orchid so sweet, also the Jude orchid wow. Carolyn will probably tell you to transfer your orchids into barck and pots that has holes everywhere because their roots need to breath. 6:55, not a given, but it might be making the baby to replace the parent plant (so the parent might die, making a stronger pup). I wouldn't cut it honestly? I've heard that if you plant the aerial roots in a pot, they'll just die as they're not used to those conditions. I don't think it needs a repot either, phals LOVE being root bound! Maybe gibe mounting it a go? All these are just suggestions so I'd say do what feels right :)

Frauenshuh is pronounced : the “au” as in “how” and “shuh” just like “shoe”. Phonetacilly it might sound like frowenshoe. It means Women’s slipper/women’s shoe

Ah, you are using two different types of the word chilli/chilly thinking it’s the same word!! (They’re called homophones) Chilli is the hot pepper. The word chilly is an adjective meaning that there is a chill (cold) in the air. Does that help you understand? English is definitely a difficult language with all of the words that sound the same, are spelled differently and have different meanings. Like, to, too and two. Two means 2. The number. Too means also. Example: I love orchids too! To is used to describe. I am going to the store. I want to buy that plant. Which brings up buy/by/bye!!!! Buy means to purchase something. Bye means goodbye. By is used to tell how something is done. Example: If you draw a picture, the picture was made by you. If you took the bus to the store you’d say that you traveled by bus. Tricky, right?! Before I became disabled, I was a teacher and I loved teaching grammar and word usage. Feel free to hit me up with any other words that are confusing. 😊💜 Oh, edited to add, tell us what happened with your boss!!!
