They didn’t explain Akashi’s eye it in the anime, here’s the explanation from the manga: Akashi’s eyes are very sharp, he can see everything with them: muscles contractions, breathe, heart beat, rhythm, body sweat, etc… and all these informations together allow him to anticipate his opponent next move. He doesn’t actually see the future, it’s like he can deduce your next movement from all the information he perceives. Oh and btw I know you wanted Aomine to appear in every episode but he should have been here even in this one, because in the manga the one that says “before his defence you’re not even allowed to move” is Aomine, not Kise…lol And Akashi last line is of course referred to all GoM, not just Midorima.

The Midorima moment: "Someone on this team holding me back? I know none of that." While he passes the defense through a screen and assists on a teammates dunk is lowkey one of my favourite scenes in the anime. Also considering the fact that the anime did us dirty by not fully explaining how his natural observational skills is integral to his ability to "predict" the future. Him being able to "See the future" is kind of correct but it's just a bit exaggerated. His actual ability is that he can read his opponent's body language really well and that allows him to predict their next move. Kind of the same, kind of not

All hail our Emperor Akashi! Yes, his ability is fucking nuts, truly worth of the "Final Boss" vibes going on. I don't know why people even bother to defend Midorima when he's not going for 3pointers because he never scores in any other way xD (Just kidding, it's too easy to poke fun of our Carrot Boy) Reo isn't totally wrong in his assessment when he says his team "hold him back" because no one besides Takao has any specialty(Kaijo) or a advantageous build(Yosen's giants) to stand up from other teams and to make strategical follow ups to Midorima's skill set. That said Shutoku IS still the perfect team for Midorima because I doubt he would be able to develop as a person if he was in any other team. The other GoM teams are way too lenient toward their GoMs and Midorima would absolutely despise this kind of attitude from his peers and not be willing to associate with them. Kaijo is probably the only other team that never gave special treatment to their GoM outside of Shutoku but even then I wouldn't say that they would be a good fit for Midorima's character development because what they gave Kise was discipline and some humbling which... Midorima didn't need. Midorima was already a very disciplined hardworker and probably the only one that didn't let his progidy status go up his head like the others. He didn't really change his core principles, just his perspective on things(thanks in part to Kuroko) to include "teamwork" as part of what constitutes "doing his utmost best" and opened up more to people. Shutoku is a close knit "family" team, they are all backbreaking hard workers which already resonates with Midorima's working policy, reasonably grounded and pretty considerate. It's the perfect atmosphere to allow Midorima to grown. Midorima is a difficulty person with quirks, I don't think any other team would have the patience, respect or understanding of his boundaries nor of his horoscope superstitions nearly as much as Shutoku does. I mean, they even got out of their way to give him his lucky item even if it's something as silly as an idol fan or something as vague as a "red item". It's pretty touching to see Midorima defending his teammates' honor like that because he usually is never upfront about these things but here, in this game, he is being very genuine and honest over his appreciation of Shutoku.
