Great video! Your house looks beautiful as always. It was fun to see an updated tour. However, I'm curious... I don't understand why YTubers start courses/classes/FB groups that charge for information that are already in their YT videos.You have made huge accomplishments. I've watched you since you were Malitose79 and I've read both books that you published. How much more info can be in a paid course when there are years of YT videos to refer to? MM and her sister started a FB group that you have to pay to join. Wouldn't you make more money over the long run by just putting out more videos that will collect more and more views over years VS paid courses? I'm just curious because I'm noticing other long time YTubers making changes to their content and video output recently.

It sounds great and like so much fun. I will not participate because Dawn puts out videos where she says she and her husband don’t like people & they have no friends...but claim they are Christians. Even if I weren’t a Christian I would never think that was ok. That’s just how I feel and it’s my own opinion. Perhaps you will delete my comment. It’s ok with me it’s your channel. I am a real estate appraiser and have entered thousands of homes in Southern California. 97% of people had clutter in their homes. The other 3% were vacant homes in escrow 🤣 Many of the clean homes were clean and tidy because a housekeeper just left before I got there. Luckily, this experience left me with a lot less anxiety about the condition of my home. I still want a neat and tidy home, but, I refuse to hate myself when it isn’t.
@Darnabymom4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience. I've come to be at peace where my home is now, but still continue to declutter and organize as I can. I've come a long way in a couple of years. I'm starting to notice that I actually have made progress. My mom had a housekeeper and her expectations of what the home would be like is higher than I can achieve. She lives with us, which is more of a blessing than it sounds. Our home is mostly messy in cluttered hot spot areas. We have TOO much stuff and too big of a house. Working on having copious amounts of less stuff GONE when my husband and I downsize. Essential stuff is the goal. I'm a bee and I think my husband is too.That can make it harder, but not impossible.

Pues tu casa, según dices, pertenece a ese 97%. ¿No te da vergüenza?

Thank you for showing your beautiful, realistic home. I love that it’s not minimalist, because frankly, most people with kids aren’t minimalists. People shop at warehouse clubs, they have family members that hoard, and sometimes inherit possessions from departed loved ones. Because of that, they don’t always want to pare down to only necessities. Do I have Christmas dishes for 12? Yes I do. I use them once a year and I’m absolutely not parting with them. But to see how organized and calm your home is... that’s beautiful! Thank you

I'm a minimalist with a 2yo, studied minimalism for 11 years. 12 plates doesn't create clutter, 7 types of toothpaste, 5 jars of shampoo, 15 types of cleaner - that's what makes life messy and chaotic. A million choices like these make life harder for some people, extra work, but I choose not to have that extra work.

Yes, I had to leave my condo after 7 years with a lot of things, (after my divorce). My son , 28 yrs old (disabled) , and I moved in at my sisters house ( after my Ma passed) . Right away, one full garage was taken up with my stuff! Her house 🏡 was less sq.ft than my condo , with now, 3 people! I now (after 4 yrs here) have 2 full rooms to myself and some area in the basement. I figured I must organize higher , and higher in my crest to conquer some real nice looking organization !! When we lived in a really small flat we only had one really small bathroom. It was hard, especially in the mornings when my husband wanted to shower and shave but I had to do my hair and make up. Our solution was that we moved everything that did not need water out of the bathroom: hairbrush, hairdryer, make up, deodorant etc. We put these things in a dresser in the hall and used them there. There was a big mirror above the dresser so it was like a vanity. And it worked! Maybe you could find a similar solution?

@Angora5732 жыл бұрын
I kind of disagree as we just buy more stuff to fill up the extra space when we move to a bigger home if we aren't strict with ourselves and only buy what we need and not everything we want.. I had to learn to organise the space I had rather than the one I used to have. From 2200 sq ft to a small apartment! IMO Clutterbug's house is huge but I bet she could get rid of tons of stuff if she had to downsize. You can't have stuff that would fill a larger space when you live in a small space you just have to get rid of stuff, oh and not hire a storage space lol
@commenter59012 жыл бұрын
@@Angora573 I understand that, if you have a lot of extra space, it can easily get filled up, but when your house doesn't have a mud room, a pantry, a linen closet, an office, a storage area, only has one tiny closet in each bedroom, no room for a dressers... the only thing you can do is stack your stuff in totes wherever you can find room. With only 2 cupboards in the entire kitchen, there's only enough room for dishes and I bake and cook everything from scratch (food allergies, so I have no choice) so pots and pans get stored in the oven. And working from home when the small living room is the office and the playroom... literally everything can be cleaned up and in totes, but it still looks cluttered because I'm an artist and my hubby also works from home. Canvases just can't be put away because there is no where big enough to store them. Under the bed would be the only place, but that's where winter coats go. We have minimized to the point where it is so inconvenient because we constantly have to borrow things from my mom that we got rid of because of lack of space. I can't get myself to get rid of the kids toys either while they are still being played with daily. I know some people just don't have toys and take their kids to the park instead, but I have severe allergies and can't leave the house for more than a few minutes so I'm in here almost 24/7... I really think a bigger house would make a big difference, even if just so I could have closets or room for dressers or a pantry so I don't have to keep food in boxes in the hall... We could probably put a shelf in the hall, but I don't think that that's safe (narrow hall) and, right now, when company comes over, all our totes, boxes, and bins around the house can just get put on our beds so the living area is tidy looking. A bigger house would make a huge difference because there's only so much that you can realistically get rid of and still have a life.

I am an artist too, and I bought an antique children’s wardrobe for my canvases. It took me ages to find the right solution, but this one is totally open inside so it works. Thank you so much for always being you. I think it is funny that I have been with you since the Malitose79 days and I never get tired of watching you. 2 things you taught me that have really changed my life and that have helped me keep my home tidy; are to store things where you use them which also makes it extremely easy to put things away. The second thing that really helps me is to put things away where I would look for the item first if the item were lost. Before you helped me realize I was a ladybug, I thought I was a hot mess but what you taught me was that if I am constantly losing things (which I was) because of homeless clutter, move it to where you would have looked for it. If something needs to be relocated to make room for something else, just do it as long as it is near where you use the item most often. I never lose anything now because everything has a designated place. FYI, (for me at least) I have discovered that if I take the time to make a label for the item, I am much more likely to remember where it is located.

Cass, I very much enjoyed seeing this home tour. I do have to admit I was also having flashbacks to one of your first ever home tours years ago on your original channel, Malitose79. You were open and honest about the messes back then which is one of many reasons I have been a subscriber for all these years.

Great video! I totally agree you dont have to get rid of stuff you want as long as you use it and it has a home. I live in an RV full time with my family of 6. We still have things we enjoy in a small space. I love figuring out how to organize it all. Love the kitchen area for the kids! Thanks for sharing!!!

Cube Shelving is LIFE!! You were one of my biggest inspirations for changing from giant bulky dressers to cube shelving!! Plus I am a minimalist so downsizing to smaller units of furniture was so great for me! Whether you are minimal or maximist cube shelves are the best!!! Great video, I love all your organization!! I took your course last year and LOVED it. You are my fave organizational specialist out there!

Thanks for always keeping it real! You inspire me to constantly edit my house to function better. Dawn was saying the other day you had instilled a great idea in her about making it just as easy to put something up as it is to leave it out. I have been trying to apply that so much to my life! I do have a suggestion for your Harry Potter closet though... If I remember correctly, with hot mess house, didn't you help a family that had like the tiniest closet be able to have some roll out shelving? I'm just wondering if you were able to get one of those Sullivan metal shelving units on casters that could fit in the doorway of that closet. You could stack all your stuff onto it and simply wheel it out all in one fell swoop in order to access what's in the back. Hope that helps. :-) Keep up the awesome lady!

I love you Cas! I have been watching you for six years. Through you I have found the Minimalist Mom and now a Sob Comes clean. I swear the three of you have been an answer to prayers. This week I am finally doing a hard-core purge of my house and I finally feel like I am succeeding. I regret not taking photos of the before. You taught me that it doesn't cost a lot of money to organize and how to improvise. The Minimalist Mom taught me to let go and A slob comes clean just wrapped it all up for me. Her book is so relatable and encouraging. Thanks so much for all of your content and congratulations on your success. ♡♡♡♡

You know what Cas, affirmation is the best thing to provide encouragement, and make somebody feel good about what they’re doing. To be honest, the more the organizing systems around my house look like yours (so to speak) the better I feel about how much time it’s taken to get to this point. I too, have a home for everything in my home and systems to keep things organized. As a result, when our little one came along, it was easy to incorporate all of his stuff, personal effects, belongings, toys, etc. in with our living space without having toys and stuff all over the place (that rhymes). Girl, Never feel bad for doing what encourages others to do better!!🇨🇦

Thank you so much! I really wanted to be a minimalist, but it was so stressful to try to get rid of stuff - really stressful! It seemed like it would make life easier/simpler, but I just couldn't get there. I am very organized, but LOVED some of your ideas for organizing and will be implementing some of them! I now feel like it's okay to keep my stuff as long as it has a home, and that I'm only keeping the stuff that I use! I just can't tell you how much this video did for me!

You can solve Master Bathroom clutter by creating a bar type counter zone just outside bathroom door that blends with bedroom colours but contents not seen from room.a quarter.circle shape would be nice. And perfume bottles are usually pretty and catch the light. You can slip a towel rung to dry towel that way you just keep toothbrush etc in bathroom .

Try using a clothes basket or smaller for things that you’re taking out for other rooms. When it’s full deliver to other rooms. Then you are working with smaller amounts and your bed or dresser tops won’t be covered as you tidy. Things you throw away are easy. Thing you donate go in a box immediately for the charity. 😄Great Luck

When we remodeled our bathroom we added a cabinet over the toilet. I also bought makeup organizers to place in the cabinet for my husband and I to organize our deodorant, toothbrushes, razors, skin care, etc that is used on a daily basis. The nice thing about this is I can pull out my organizer, get dressed and move it back to the cabinet when I have finished using the products. The cabinet top stays clear and clean.
