I like the Z bars, but I've seen them shorter which look sharp. I'm prone to the drag bars, so the happy medium would be like a 6"-8" Z bar.

Man I am so happy to see this bike back. You and your channel are what helped me make the decision to get my bike, and as of fall of last year I proudly got a 2016 iron 883. One of the best things ever. I was sadly one of those wimps that didn’t ride all winter, but when the weather got nice again I hopped on and rode. The feeling I had after 3 months of no riding was so intoxicating. You, my good sir, are an incredible person that has touched so many lives. Because of that, so many of us now live our lives on two wheels. I really appreciate all you show us. Let me say this again; seeing this beautiful sporty on here again makes me so dang happy. Dont ever feel bad about being a fair-weather rider! There's nothing wrong with it. My only option for a few years was to ride as I didnt have a truck or car at the time. It kinda runs your riding experience when you Only have the option to freeze your ass off or deal with ape-shit driver's at the slight chance of rain. I now have a 2013 Iron 883 again for the first time being back on a sporty in 10-ish years, and now I only ride in fair weather conditions

How tall should you be to enjoy forward controls? I'm 5'10" so I dunno if my legs are long enough to need em.

@@charlesbelville5090 I'm 5'6" and they aren't much of stretch at all. I think its only a 9 inch difference from the stock mids. Harley makes "further forward mid controls" for sportsters if you need those. I think you get an extra few inches out of them. Or you could buy their further forward mid controls that give you an extra three inches or so and come with little floorboards.

I got one on my 1200 and I noticed a big difference. Did the cylinders and 570 cams. I could imagine it's be a huge difference for an 883. Plus they say the gearing is better with the 883s.

@@vector6977 depends which heads. I have a rigid mount sportster, the heads only have so much potential. Blockhead's heads have a better base design and the squish band added by the Hammer kit has way better potential for hp.

@@depthsounderdave The other option is getting his hands on a pair of Buell xb12 heads, just installed the 1275 kit paired with impact 560 cams with those heads. Outstanding customer service from hammer perf extremely helpful and knowledgeable bunch of guys

Hammer Performance big bore kit is what you're looking for. I think it's a 1275cc. Some guys on XL forum are getting over 100 hp from their sporty. Dynojet Power Vision is the recommended tuner (I have one, it's better than the FP3 I had by far).

You know, first half of last Year, I was just thinking (like a lot) about buying this bike, watching your videos and want to know how it feels. In the second half of the last year i rode 13000 km on the new Iron 883 2018 and i am addicted to it. I have forward controls on my 2017 Iron and I can tell you it is soooo worth it. I’m 6’1” so I was pretty cramped with the mid controls. The forwards brought my legs out enough where it was much more comfortable without being too far and feeling like I didn’t have control. Definitely pick yourself up a pair!

I have a 2009 Iron 883 with Forwards. It's been 10 years so I can't remember for sure but I think I got them from the dealership. My only complaint is the rear brake isn't adjustable like the gear lever is.

I live in the Orlando area too. These people drive like frickin maniacs! When I got my 883 about 3 years ago I found this channel. I was a little sad when you sold off the 883 but it's cool that you got it back. Mine is an 03 100th Anniversary edition. Still going strong. Wish I had more time to ride it. I'd like a bigger bike someday too but I can't bring myself to sell the sporty because it's my first Harley.

personally for me looks wise and comfort as it stands i think drag bars would be better i found if im too upright then my lower back will start to hurt ,so on my bike i put drags on and i never had any more issues . but if you plan on putting forwards on then i think the up rights would he better for your back otherwise i think your back might start hating you

Pretty awesome that you were able to get back your original bike, your channel definitely influenced my decision on getting a sportster myself. Though I pretty much sealed my fate with this one, I'm still paying it off and im at 17k miles for a 2017...resale value is too low to sell so I'm keeping it even when I get a new bike.
