Last month i rode my bike 5 minutes to the shop, decided to wear full gear even though it was just a couple streets away, got slammed into at a junction i was stopped on from a speeding car who slide around the corner who after throwing me off my bike drove off and left the scene. Biggest lesson for me is, doesn't matter how long you have been riding, how good and safe you are at riding, doesn't matter if it's a 5 minute ride or 5 hour. Always wear your gear because there are plenty of idiots on the road that can end you in a blink of an eye.

Well you sir a sadly mistaken. If you are going down a two lane highway riding in the right lane going with the flow of traffic at about 60-65mph and the car in front of you decides to slam on their brakes for no reason at all your only two options are hit the rear of that car that just slammed on their brakes for no reason and hope for the best or you are forced to "LAY IT DOWN". I was in that exact situation and I wouldn't be here today if I didn't lay my bike down. BTW the bike I was forced to LAY DOWN was a 2002 HARLEY DAVIDSON WIDE GLIDE that I only had for two months and it wasn't my first bike, I've been riding for about twenty years on the roads and longer than that in the dirt. So yes sometimes your only option is to LAY'ER DOWN. 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦

@@fester7075 Let's be real, nothing forced you to lay her down. You grabbed too much brake and lost traction. The lack of gear combined with the completely ignorant and foolish riding style is the perfect recipe for something like this to happen. Thankfully he was able to just get up and walk away with very minor injury/injuries. It blows my mind as a rider myself how people feel so comfortable and confident doing this. Hopefully lesson learned.

@@warped1589 3:27 was the biggest foreshadow. He’s driving like a dickhead. Lanesplitting has its place, but to be doing that in a crowded place like this where cars aren’t looking for bikes, aren’t expecting a bike to be cutting them off from their left turn, low visibility as it is, and so forth, it’s just asking for something to happen. And when the actual crash happened, he rammed into the back of that car. Slow moving traffic that is stop and go, and he’s going considerably faster. Always ride like you’re invisible, and ALWAYS have an escape route in mind for when something goes wrong.

@@Username-2 agreed, besides cast iron is a lot more brittle than steel due to having a very high carbon content around 3% carbon content (weird as it may sound) Steel usually has between 0.5 to 1% And cast iron handles compression worse than steel. Wrought iron has very low carbon content, usually closer to 0.10% carbon. Wrought iron takes compression very well. Anyway, engine blocks are mostly cast iron or aluminium, but the cylinders are usually steel lined.

For my chairs perspective: Absolutely avoidable crash. Looks like the rider pulled the brake lever very hard and the front wheel lost traction. He could avoid the crash by dodging instead. I found myself on this exact same situations more than once, you can either brake or avoid but never both things at the same time. Ride safe! Edit: Glad the rider didn't have significant injuries!
