We have traveled all around the United States with our dad serving in the Air Force and then touring with our music. There are so many beautiful parts of the county, but there truly is nothing like "My Ozark Mountain Home."
This song is the title track of our new album! Don't forget to listen to the Dolby Atmos mixes on Apple Music, Amazon Music, or Tidal if you have the audio set up. It truly is the ultimate experience and you will feel like you are in the recording studio right there with us :)

Katie's piano version • My Ozark Mountain Home...
►Handy Ozark Glossary:
» Ozark mountains (aka the Ozarks) - lush forest highlands covering the southern half of Missouri and northern Arkansas, extending westward into northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas
» Aspens, redwoods and dogwoods - varieties of trees, flowering dogwoods are Missouri's state tree
» Whippoorwill - a bird with a loud call like its name, the classic sound of warm summer nights
» Buffalo - the Buffalo River
» White tail - white-tailed deer, mostly seen during rutting season in the fall
» Holler - a hollow or small valley, often with a creek

►LYRICS - My Ozark Mountain Home
Well, the Colorado aspens
Are blowin' in the wind
And the California redwoods
Grow so high they never bend
And when the sun sets over Kansas
It may never ever end
But as I watch the sun go down
My heart longs to hear once again
How the whippoorwill is callin' me
To the place I long to go
Where the hills roll through the valleys
Down into the Buffalo
Slow and steady are the voices
That I hear whene'er I roam
They remind me of where I come from
My Ozark mountain home
From the dogwoods in the springtime
To the whitetail in the fall
The neighbors on the front porch
Just in case I come to call
Well, mom and dad live down the dirt road
Oh I've missed them most of all
I think it's time to quit my wanderin'
And go back, back where I belong
Where the whippoorwill is callin' me
To the place I long to go
Where the hills roll through the valleys
Down into the Buffalo
Slow and steady are the voices
That I hear whene'er I roam
They remind me of where I come from
My Ozark mountain home
Oh my mind, it wanders back
To runnin' barefoot in the yard
And grandma yellin'
"It's dinner time, come on"
Hands joined around the table
Giving thanks with grateful hearts
Then we'd fall asleep
While crickets sing their song
Hummin' right along...
Hmmmmmmm
Oh the whippoorwill is callin' me
To the place I long to go
Where the hills roll through the valleys
Down into the Buffalo
Slow and steady are the voices
That I hear whene'er I roam
They remind me of where I come from
They remind me of where I come from
Down the holler, where my heart will always run
To my Ozark mountain home

This is a beautiful song. I grew up in the Ozarks, but moved away nearly 20 years ago. This song makes me long for the summers of my childhood, when I would lie awake at night just to hear a whippoorwill, a singing cicada, and the croaking tree frogs.

Only a few musicians in the world have been able to compose a new song, sing it, interpret it, and make a video of this level so that it is an absolute masterpiece. There are no personal opinions, fashions or preferences that can deny this evidence. The Petersens are pure art, without compromise, without technical artifice and without unnecessary sets full of lights and special effects, which only serve to hide the lack of music and talent. Thank you for your music that conveys joy of life, in a world saddened by situations and people who try, in every way, to convey only negativity of all kinds.

If anyone can sing it right it's Katie. She wrote it. The songwriter is more connected to the feelings of the song than anyone else can be. That is why I will always prefer Dolly Parton's version of her "I will always love you" to Witney Houston's excellent rendition. And watching and hearing Paul Williams perform his "I write the songs" was magic. No one could ever match Katie Petersen and family playing her song.

Whippoorwills are great until one decides the best place to live is right outside your bedroom window. Every night for the past 11 years, springtime through early fall, I've had to put up with the insistent call of a whippoorwill as I try to go to sleep and then it is calling as I wake up. I guess it's the price I pay for living in the Ozark woods.

Katie's talent is so impressive. Shes an excellent songwriter and fiddle player and sings well also. Ive noticed from my own experience as a guitar player, singer and songwriter that there have not been many talent in the world who are excellent at 3 skills. There are many 1s and 2s. Katie isnt too far off from all three Her vocal skill, while ok, isnt at the level of Ellen. Perhaps some vocal coaching could take her to that level that only a few musician/singer/songwriters in the world are or have been? who knows... But even if she stays right where shes at we are all life long fans and love what she's doing with The Petersen's!
@alecepting1371
@alecepting1371 Жыл бұрын
Two different styles of singing. When you want power, you use Ellen. When you want more melancholy, with a smooth pleasing sound in the lower register, Katie nails it. See this flawless performance of hers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqqqfGOfbr-HidE&ab_channel=ThePetersens. This Ozarks song is in between the two, so it's a little hard for her in the higher register, power portions of the song, but the lyrics and composition are very good.
@hal0hal0mc
@hal0hal0mc Жыл бұрын
@@alecepting1371 I agree. Ellen's voice is so bright and strong (like sunshine, which makes it perfect for happy songs), whereas Katie's hits with a more thoughtful sort of warmth... it feels more reflective and sometimes melancholy. Ellen seems more technically impressive, whereas Katie just feels like she's pouring her heart into what she sings. All in all, each band member has remarkable vocals with differing strengths that lend themselves to different arrangments... It would be interesting to take some of these songs and see how they differ by changing the lead singer.

I have listened to the both versions of the song-this with the band and another with Katie"s solo at the piano -just to make a comparison and i must admit i "m still not sure which one was better...Each has something special in itself..

What a really WONDERFUL SONG written by Katie and originally sung as a solo with the piano and now extra special with the whole band. I love it and the genuine feelings of this band. And getting to hang out with this incredibly talented and sweet family in their Ozark Mountain Home makes it priceless to me!

Such a beautiful song. Such a blessing - the song, and your family! You have kept the America that I saw in a book as a child; some 45 years ago now. It's not just your songs that bless us. It's also your unity, purity and love for each other.

Excellent take on a final home, it appears, for the USAF family of the Petersens and both versions, solo and with the three elder siblings doing it with the writer doing the lead among them, as in some others. The Ozarks must have a multitude of songs glorifying them, but I do not know of any so this will be the one I shall always make due for describing the area I have circled around, having been from Florida to Pittsburgh to Colorado Springs to San Antonio and back to Texas without being in Arkansas or any part of the Ozarks. Some day maybe, but I will see them both in so many of the well-planned music videos of this mighty bluegrass/gospel/popular American roots family group. Well done Katie and well done The Petersens.
