In You Came - The Petersens (LIVE)

We couldn't think of a better way to start off the year than to share a video with the man who started it all, Jon Petersen. Dad had the idea to become a family bluegrass band, bought us all our instruments, and signed us up to perform wayyyyy before we were ever ready haha. He and mom would sing us to sleep as little kids and "In You Came" was heard most nights in the Petersen household. Hope you all are blessed by it!
For everyone asking about Papa P's guitar, it is a 12-string (reverse-strung) Taylor 652ce, which he is fingerpicking, so plucking rather than strumming. The strings are in pairs, each an octave apart, and it takes some skill to play both at once but it gives such a beautiful sound.

Pilot, doctor, musician, the one who, with Mom, has created this fantastic musical reality that you all are. I love 'The Petersens'! They're special! Very special! In my opinion this is the 'best' performance I've ever heard from the band. There's a difference in this performance. Dad singing from the heart, Karen joining him on harmonies and the rest of the family and Emmett contributing in their own inimitable way. The song moves me. Jon's vocal is not perfect. He doesn't intend it to be. But his approach to his vocal is totally sincere. He's sung it countless times to his beautiful children and it shows. It has soul and his family know it. You can see it in their faces. They're proud. They love their Mum and Dad who have given them this gift. This song reminds me of John Prine's approach to his incredible songs. Nothing needs to be perfect....but when a performance like this speaks to our souls, we're moved. This is music at it's absolute best.....

This video has sooo many facets to it that reveal much about your family. First there is the man that started his kids in a positive direction. He heretofore was most always humbly in the background-even now doesn't look directly into the camera- now persuaded to perform and share a beautiful family intimacy. Look at his children. They all have this "Dad is so special" look on their face. And talk about faces; why did it take so long for we the admiring public to see the beautiful radiant glowing face that Mom has. Wow, does she love that guy doing the singing! And then there is the double entendre of the song's lyrics -sung to Jesus and yet also to the one that Jesus gave him as a life partner.
