Just document this. Wait until your parents are on retirement. Then sell their car and house, tell them a charity need the money. Oops

Be only aware that said parents aren't rich enough to afford a lawyer to sue you for larceny, fraud and punitive damages thereafter.

people say call the cops, the sad thing is though that the cops won't do anything, oftentimes, when it's a parent and child situation. they'll claim it's a civil matter and stay out of it, regardless if it's actually theft or not

But at least op will start a paper trail.
@CG-yb6zj13 сағат бұрын
@@nilianstroy Yea, but then they'll starting being sneaky about it, and thus, more abusive that can't be as easily tracked/proven. Plus, that's IF their court takes it seriously to even put on record and not just a kid feuding with his parents and wasting their time.
@frankfuller9752 сағат бұрын
@@CG-yb6zj this is pretty much what I'm worried about, yes. The court reacting like that and not doing a thing, not even putting it on the record.

Please tell me you call the cops and reported this and you didn't just sit there and say "all I could do is stare at them and say nothing g." THEY STOLE YOUR COMPUTER!!
@Corbzer12 сағат бұрын
yeah the parents did sell the computer for 1200 however instead of court he got the 1200 that the parents sold the computer for and used that to refund the guy and get the computer back. what he should have done was sue his parents for 3600 (((which is what the computer was worth and he could prove that))) and then use 1200 to get the computer back and use the rest to settle into his own place ((deposit and months rents in advance ))

"We did what was best for the family" ignoring that they just blatantly admitted they don't see OP as family. OP should've reported them, yes, but also put them all on public blast, with receipts and left no room for them to try and back track and change the narrative. I love my PC so hearing how they sold it like it was nothing hurt me to a level OP must've been.
@GraveX19 сағат бұрын
that amount of money is enough to take them to court over. I would have.

They sold the computer that presumably also holds all of OP's personal and financial details? His emails may have still been open, his stored passwords in his browser. This isn't just theft, this could lead to other cases relating to personal security.

thing is, its more than theft, its a felony because its over $1500 and then there's the problem of all his personal data on that computer. his work as well....sheesh he should have smashed everything his parents and sister own and destroyed his parents car or something...all these idiots rolling over allowing this crap to happen. its no wonder the parents felt so emboldened to pull something like this
