I send what I can to my folks of my own volition. They made clear I don't have to and not to do so at a detriment to me. I still plan to find a way to get them all they wanted, but couldn't due to money or lack of resources. Not because they ever demanded it or insinuate that I 'owed' them. That said - I'll NEVER understand folks, claiming to be "family" demand one of their kids, much less the blacksheep/scapegoat, to "pay up" for them doing THE BARE MINIMUM.
