Tha train station scene absolutely broke me first time I watched. My mom and I grew up in similar conditions. She tried her best as a single mom doing it on her own. Once when I was 5/6 we got evicted from our apartment. We had no family, no friends we could reach out to. We were homeless, but she wanted to shield me from our reality. So instead she told me we were going “camping.” And we spent a few nights outdoors sleeping in a single sleeping bag. I remember being so excited because we’d never been camping before. But I didn’t realize until years later we were actually sleeping behind some bushes at a local playground. She did her best to preserve my childhood and I’ll always be grateful for it

I grew up extremely low income and spent a decent portion of my life homeless. I lived in over 20 homeless shelters before I was 12 years old and was homeless from 2008-2013. Any time something good happened it felt like five more things decided to kick me when I was down. Things could always be better but I have a reliable job now and have been working in IT for ~10 years. This movie has always resonated for me in so many ways.

I’ve always had similar struggles (lots of damage from violence, ptsd, depression, grew up in a trailer ect ect) and throughout my life whenever I learn to deal with one problem another arises. I honestly now believe that our suffering is the point. For whatever reason people like us are being tested. There are way too many coincidences making things worse just as they start to get better. Now I have accepted it. It’s the hope that makes it so hard ya know? After accepting my lot in life I have found some peace. I wish you luck man.

Christopher Gardner wrote a book about his life called ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ and he was actually a part of the movie production. Great reaction Stef. What this movie points out is that we do need shelters for men or should I say more. I get the point for women, but it seems to me there more resources for women than men sadly. The resiliency of Chris is amazing. He never lost hope which is great. This hit home for me as my father got injured on railroad, but my mother didn't leave she worked more hours until my dad's disability and settlement came through. She loved my dad and me very much. She never made my dad feel like less of man for not being able to work and in fact she was reason my dad was able to walk again as the hospital told him with his back injury he wouldn't walk and if he did it would only be with support aka a cane. My dad fought through it and ended up walking without cane. He was still slow, but with my mom's love and support she helped him through this. Then fast forward my mother got cancer and my dad ended up carrying her back and forth to bathroom until finally she had to be admitted to hospice. My mom always called my dad her angel and my dad called my mom the love of his life. This is how you should struggle. Together and inspire each other.

6:52 I dated a girl once who could solve a Rubix cube in under 20 seconds no matter how it was jumbled. What I didnt know is that there is a very specific formula. It was something like make sure yellow is in the top left corner on one side, and twist, twist twist, and she had it done. You just have to learn the formula. Fun fact. It's like Tic Tac Toe. If the person who goes first marks center and one corner in the first total three moves, it's impossible to lose.

Borderline starving. Looking like a homeless guy at an interview. People not believing in you. When you want to accomplish something, there is always a process. Sometimes, the process means going through what he did. Because God is preparing you to be the person you are supposed to be. And some people need that for a lots of reasons. Glad, that at such a young age and seemingly nice lifestyle, you appreciate and felt the movie. Lots of people don't.
