Yup, that's the good thing about a simple premise. It doesn't matter if it's simple as long as it's done well! You see Harry taking AJ's place coming, but it's what they say and do as it happens, AJ asking Harry to tell Grace that he loves her, AJ saying that it's his job, Harry telling AJ to go take care of his little girl, that's his job now. Then the extra flavor of seeing AJ as a son! Harry is a 3rd generation driller, and I'd wager that whatever kid AJ and Grave have will be a 4th generation driller!

Don't worry Stef, you're not alone in shedding a tear to this one. In fact, when the producers were trying to convince Aerosmith to record the theme 'I don't want to miss a thing' they showed the goodbye scene to Steve Tyler, the bands lead singer and Liv's father. He had the same reaction as you to seeing his daughter calling for her daddy he broke down and finally agreed.

The most intelligent, most feeling lifeform on earth, humans. I would remind people of that. It's true that we have bred dogs to be loyal, but if you find yourself alone with a pack of wild wolves, you'll likely see things differently. I think what you're feeling perhaps is a dislike for humans who feel superior to you and want to control your life. We could certainly be better and truly free without central governments, and this resentment many have toward their fellow men and women would be less prevalent. I love people more than any other living thing, even though I avoid people, because they often have very dark sides. Don't get me wrong though, I get a smile from seeing animals roaming free going about their lives in nature. I hate seeing an animal die and I feel it when I must stomp on a bug to prevent it moving in where I don't want them moving in. But, if I get hungry, they're a food source. I didn't manifest as a human because I hate humanity. We have things we should be doing to progress and become better. We are the best thing we know of on earth. We are capable of overcoming our dark side as well and we do that best in a state of freedom.

It's easily one of my favorite Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Liv Taylor, Steve Buscemi, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Owen Wilson movies. 15:06 - 15:48 Fun Fact: Director Michael Bay had the actors write down those lists of demands themselves. No matter how many times I watch this movie Oscar's death scene, and when Harry says goodbye to Grace always brings more than a few tears to my eyes. Glad that you caught the scenes that were shown while the credits rolled. Most reactions that I've seen always get cut off by that point. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

- That last scene between Harry & A.J. still makes me rain a little out of my eyeholes. 🥺 - They decide to detonate from Earth because they can't take the chance that the shuttle teams can't or won't detonate, and they still believe surface detonation might work. - I also recommend reacting to DEEP IMPACT, the "other" asteroid movie that came out the same year, but was a lot more grounded (and should be remade into a show IMO). - The taxi driver was a stand-up comic in the 80s & 90s that starred in his own ABC sitcom for a while called HANGING WITH MR. COOPER. - The Godzilla bit was a shot at the American GODZILLA that came out the same summer, but did not do as well at all. And the guy with the little dog was another stand-up of the time.
@LucianDevine
@LucianDevine Ай бұрын
But even their reason for detonating it is stupid, because a surface detonation of the nuke is useless, and they know it. Wasting their one and only chance while the operation is still live is just silly. I get why the general did it, but the president making the call is literally the worst strategic decision in history.

Oh - and THANKS for mentioning the "Chick" storyline (the divorced guy who gave the 'shuttle toy' to his son'). That line hit me very emotionally, too -- and I don't think only because it's quite a different bucket of dynamics compared to the AJ/Grace/Harry trio --- but, even w/out the details, this fundamentally different emotional line multiplies the dimensions to experience.......thanks so much for pointing that out..

I think it's almost impossible not to feel nervous, excited, and get goosebumps during the liftoff scene. For me it basically starts from when the president says "...14 brave souls." Knowing that the lives of billions are in the hands of so few, when so much can go wrong, would be...horrifying. Then everything involving A.J. is even more anxiety-inducing, because of Grace, and don't even get me started on what Harry would be feeling when he sees the Independence crash or A.J. pull that short straw!

I'm sure you may know already, but in case you don't, "Grace" (Liv Tyler) is the daughter of Steve Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, who sang the theme song that you love.

12:50: In the DVD commentary, Ben Affleck tell a story of how he asked Michael Bay(Director), if it actually made sense(for the story) to train Oil Drillers to be astronauts, instead of Astronauts be oil drillers(given how astronauts tend to be, legitimately, the best of the best of the planet). He also says that Bay told him to “shut the f*ck up”. 😂

When I was either 8 or 9 I saw this movie in theaters. As soon as the dinosaurs got hit with the asteroid I cried. The music might have stirred that up but still. Every scene with one had me in tears.😅 I'm still a bit soft when it comes to mass death scenes in movies. I just want everyone safe😩

One of my favorite scientifically accurate space films! Just kidding! Its more my favorite 90's action films. But I also love the song, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, and its music video. The video recaptures many of the emotional high points of the film. So its highly recommended.

I'm a guy and not many movies make me really tear up, but this might be the one that did it to me the most. :D Selfless heroics, apologies, saving everybody, and heart-felt goodbyes. This one did it best. I can't remember which other great big disaster/global threat movies you've reacted to, but I'll just list some that were good: 2012, Independence Day, The Core, Moonfall (I liked it, some didn't), Greenland, Volcano, Dante's Peak, War of the Worlds (2005), and thinking of these made me think of a couple space movies that weren't so much about global threats, but really good: Moon (2009) and The Martian (2015). And another really good space movie for you, Mission to Mars (2000). Most of these movies I listed have each their share of intense or actiony moments, but also some feel-good and funny moments and likeable characters, and I like movies that don't have bad or "evil" endings. And one more! It's more of a disaster survival space movie, Gravity (2013), and I won't give anything else away, but you'll recognize the actors in it.

Sometimes I see there's a reply to a comment I made, but when I click to see the reply, I don't see anything. Why is that?

58:50 roughneck, it is like saying "redneck" roughneck is a term for someone who is a "arm" worker, someone who does a lot of hardwork, it can also be used as to say someone is "dumb" or "is not suited for any work that is not armwork"

I really do appreciate the intensity in which you react to these emotional movies; there’s just something so beautiful in the way you respond to the depth of these films. You should give “Fury” a watch for a less romanticized version of humanity.

Damn, this was one hour of Stef being put through the emotional blender 😅 Honestly tho, this movie is in my top 10 fave movies to watch (not saying its in my 10 best movies). The scene that always breaks me is Chick seeing his son in the end and that reunion... It honestly just breaks me down to a mess lol

When you get a 90's movie by Jerry Bruckheimer, it's gonna have a LOT of action and odds are, it will be atleast decent

roughneck was the name Harry kept calling AJ & the crew... which is what the people who work on oil drilling crews especially oil Platform workers are called.
