It’s literally like just watching someone watch a movie. If you enjoy that then all good, but I got about 15 minutes into this and realised I’m just watch someone watch something. I just want a little more from a “reaction” other than someone sitting there and watching it - I can get that just sitting with my housemate watching a movie. Give me some commentary, some thoughts, some REACTIONS lol - I hate people talking through movies but if I’m just watching someone ELSE watch a movie I want to hear what they think.

Stef, you didn't need to say anything. Your eyes spoke a novel. Matt and Ben wrote this work of genius, it was their first film and it won an Oscar. Right out of the chute. The casting was perfect ... PERFECT. Every actor hit the mark as if they had lived it. Robin Williams turned in one of the greatest performances of all time. Nobody but Robin could have played that role. One of the greatest movies ever filmed. You cannot have a beating heart and watch this film without tears in your eyes. It took me several watchings to realize that it wasn't filmed out of focus. Thank you for this, Stef. It was the best reaction I've seen for this masterpiece.

To add to this, the beginning was filmed out of focus but was in focus at the end. The one scene after the painting where Robin Williams is just standing after Lambeau and Will left the office... The greatest piece of unspoken acting ever filmed. You can see every emotion in Williams face all at once. Anger, sadness, fear, confusion, love, loss, and heartbreak all in one damn face.

I'm 40 and It's difficult to describe the impact Robin Williams had on my generation, it was just immense. We connected with him through things like Aladdin, Hook, Popeye and Mrs Doubtfire and as we got older that connection broadened into exploring his more mature movies like Dead Poets Society, Good Morning Vietnam, Good WIll Hunting and One Hour Photo. For me personally I'd seen him first in re-runs of Mork & Mindy which aired every Sunday in the UK, but he also opened up the world of American stand up comedy to me. I stated seeking out his shows and that led me to Richard Pryor when I found out he was part of The Richard Pryor Show, His impact was profound and I don't think there's anyone in movies or media who has quite the same impact on today's generation.

I'm 62 and grew up with Mork & Mindy (nanu-nanu) and Robin's stand-up comedy ("Reality... What a Concept" is his first recorded masterpiece -- I could recite the entire album word for word when I was 18!). I still remember seeing him for the very first time on a couple of episodes of Happy Days, where he stole the show. (Mork & Mindy was the spin-off show as a result of the Happy Days appearances). By the time you were born, Robin was already an icon for an entire generation! But he continued to bridge across every generation for another 36 years of acting, and making us laugh and cry. He still creates new fans every time someone from the current generation discovers his massive body of work, and his spirit lives on.

I feel so absolutely sorry for her - abandoned and alone after being so willing to give everything. It’s his mechanism to push people away. She was fighting to tell him that those things didn’t matter and she loved him regardless. Not “playing the victim”. Hearing how mistreated he was was heartbreaking. Just saying…I’ve never seen anyone throw blame on her. It was Will keeping his walls up.

Reacting is definitely an art. Good reactors will wait until the dialogue is done & will talk during the quiet moments. They also will speak very concisely. There’s nothing I find more frustrating than a reactor who spends 5 sentences when 1 would’ve conveyed the same information.

Good Will Hunting is one of the most beautiful films ever made. It's chalked full of big memorable moments... like the monologue in the park. But it's also packed with little small moments... like the scene at the end when Ben Affleck's character walks up to Will's front door, knocks, and realizes Will isn't there.

I saw this movie during its opening weekend when I was 26. When I was younger, I identified with all of the younger characters. I'm 53 now and I identify with all of the older characters. The movie has grown with me through the years. This is my favorite movie and I love watching young people finding it who probably really needed to find it. Beautiful reaction❤

You left out a VERY important name, William Goldman. He helped them rewrite the script. In the original Ben and Matt version it was a fast action spy thriller. Will and the boys were geniuses on the run from the NSA/FBI. Goldman had them rewrite almost the entire movie. Not to mention the ad-libbed lines by Robin and the director wanting the ending changed.

Robin Williams was a treasure and he gave us many gifts that people seldom ever watch. Fantastic films like "Patch Adams" and "What Dreams May Come" are two of my favorites of his. My all-time favorite of his will always be "Dead Poets Society". I happened to be in Boston a little over a year after Robin left us, and I asked the people I knew to show me where that park was. As I neared the bench where they shot that scene, I could see quotes from Robin written all over the walkway in front of the bench in different colors of chalk. Naturally, one of those quotes was from this film. "Your move Chief".

35:30 I couldn't agree more. This movie is in my top 3 favorite movies of all time and for a good reason. Look at how this affected you and so many of us that live in a time where real human connection and conversation have become a rarity. We're all so scared to allow ourselves to open up and be vulnerable to other people out of fears that are (for the most part) justifiable. This movie shows us the opposite and teaches us that it's okay to be vulnerable and open up. It's the only way we can recapture real connections and intimacy, and sometimes it comes with pain and that's ok. This movie applies to us now more than ever because it reminds us to feel and to face the baggage we all carry around. One of the best bits of knowledge about this film is when Sean tells Will about his wife farting in her sleep. That was improvised by Robin Williams, so Matt's laugh is real - and if you look for it, you can see the camera shake a little as well - because the camera guy is also laughing :D - I get extra joy knowing that, whenever I see the scene :D

I love the display of cognitive dissonance when Sean is telling Will that it’s not his fault. Will knows mentally that it’s true, but often children who suffer abuse emotionally feel responsible for what happens. Sean closes the gap and just keeps saying “it’s not your fault” until Will truly internalizes it and allows himself to feel all the grief he has held inside for his whole life. The scene breaks me every damn time 💔

Loved the reaction, Stef. This is one of my favourite movies with Robin Williams in it, and he's not even the main character. Circumstance means that Patreon is something that I simply can't afford to do, however, if I could recommend movies to you with Robin Williams in them, that I consider to be absolute must see films, they would, in no particular order, be Dead Poets Society, (a superb movie), The Fisher King, (which almost nobody reacts to because it isn't as well known as some others, and is just an incredible story), and What Dreams May Come, (which is one of my favourite movies of all time). All of those movies are astonishingly good, and are an incredible reminder of how very special Robin Williams was.

In the end they ended up helping each other. 32:04 That was the baggage he was carrying around that had to be relesed. That's why he was being hard on everyone. It was all bottled up. Of all of your reactions I've seen, Stef, and of all the reactions to GWH I've seen, this one is the best... my only regret is that you're not likely to see this comment. Throughout, I could see in your eyes you were feeling the life experiences you've had, and the feelings you've felt while watching each of the many brilliantly acted human interactions on film. Good Will Hunting is a wonderful film, one of the best ever, and you rose to the occasion. Great job, young lady.

Matt Damon has an interview out there where he explains that Hollywood, etc. don't want to take risks with movies like this because usually they don't make much money. There are probably a lot of gems out there that never get made because they aren't about super heroes.

Movies like this always had potential to make money on vhs/dvd sales. Obviously, thats not a reliable market anymore. I'm actually surprised that no one has tried using thumb drive or sd cards to replace dvds. I think there are a lot of people, myself included, who would continue to buy physical movies/tv shows that came on a thumb drive or sd card. Its basically 1 Gb of data per hour of video content. Even a full season of a tv show would be less than 16 Gb. Would be a relatively inexpensive format for them to test out, and it could re-open an important revenue stream that would benefit low to mid budget movies.

I think Robin did so well specifically in this movie is because I think he was depressed in real life, he really felt like he used things his life to covey in this movie which make it so much more realistic. We do not have down to earth movies as much, everything is fake and two faced and people are now too afraid to talk about real emotions.

I watch this film a few years back and I gotta say it did me some magical thing. The "It's not your fault" scene made me feel like he was talking to me as well. I reflected back on my childhood and shed good tears of release after a long time. Over a decade of confused pain gone just like that and I could finally mourn my past. I could finally leave it behind

Every time he tells that line "Do what's in your heart son...you'll be fine" I always felt like Robin Williams tells that to me directly as an audience member......He just exudes so much beautiful caring wholesome emotion and I love him so much through his role and so sad that he's gone, god rest the soul of this beautiful man!
