Congrats on this purchase. This is my idea of the perfect dress watch. Simple but beautifully finished.

Awesome watch!! Feels great on the wrist. I put mine on a beautiful brown suede strap from veblenist!

Fantastic choice. It’s the only watch in my collection that is engraved, and the only one that I guaranteed to never be sold off.

Congratulation on your new watch! I've tried this one and some other variations on a week ago. This together with the SBGM221 are in my opinion the best GS you can buy. Classic and timeless dials and cases.

Another fantastic piece Anders. It’s a great everyday watch - not just a dress piece 👌 😉

Nice watch, congrats. However I have always found it difficult to match a cream face w/ brown strap to my dress outfits. Seem like your GS Snowflake would dress-up better with almost any clothing.

Thank you for this great video. I guess the cream dial is more versatile than other colourful ones. I am not sure if I am correct. Do you prefer the cream dial than the light blue or the dark green one? 😊😊

Hi Partrick. My pleasure 🙂 I like this “original” configuration better than the later colours. I did look at the limited for EU brown dialed one. That looks great!

I know you can take a different opinion so I'm gonna say 3k for a Japanese movement without even a screw crown, antimag, shock absorb or anything is paying well over the value. If not, what makes this better than an ETA £500 seiko apart from marketing? I'd defo save up and buy an OP 36 for 5k - much more accurate and loads more innovation plus the sunburst dials look a cut above compared to this plane cream

Almost 3 years ago I was on the hunt for either a white dial OP or this sbgw231. I luckily found the OP at an AD and bought it right away, and within the same week, I found this Grand Seiko. I could not resist and bought it too even if I was in the market only for one watch. The OP does not even compare to this in terms of finishing. I love the Rolex and think the OP is an amazing watch, but even 3 years later I can’t get enough of the sbgw231 beauty and wear it at least as much as my OP. Don’t juge it based on prejudices, “Japanese movement”, “marketing”, etc. You have to experience it in the metal to grow wiser.

1. Usually hand-wound movements come with push-pull crowns. I won't want a screwed-down crown if I can. 2. Sure it does have a shock absorber. 3. It also has 72hr power 4. Yes performance-wise it's not quite superior to ETA, but IT IS something DIFFERENT. When you get more and more pieces, you will need something new or different. 5. Watches aren't only about movements.

I agree with Timmy and Chia-Ming. The level of detail - all the small details is what really makes a true luxury watch - is of a very high level. Compared to my DateJust the level of finish is better.

I would also add that the winding experience on the sbgw231 is buttery smooth and second to none in my collection including JLC, Rolex, and other watches with ETA movements.

Yeah you’re not buying this watch for it’s robustness, it’s not a sports watch after all.
