Thank you for speaking of Palestine, Sudan and Congo. Most creators just pretend it isn't happening. I think even talking about it is so important and is activism, especially when you have any type of platform. Love to you and your family❤

In a similar situation myself. I've been trying to just pick 2 or 3 things each day that will have the most impact - for myself first and then others. Anything more I accomplish becomes a bonus. Being very intentional with how I use my spoons and how I think of my to do list helps me avoid feeling like my life is not my own.

My thoughts about a mural: The dragon with the butterfly wings is awesome. If it were me, I'd commission Ruth to do something like that. :) It would look whimsical and fit well in a beautiful garden. I'm a fantasy fan, so fantasy creatures in general are something I really enjoy -- but creatures known to live on Earth would be neat, too.

I just built a shed and I’m thinking of putting a barn quilt on it. As for trying to balance it all, I have so much to say that I don’t even know where to start. For me, post-Covid syndrome was the jumping off point. What had been almost impossible became actually impossible. But it proved to be one of those crisis/opportunity moments. We upped-sticks and traded city life for village life where we would need much less income. I’m now finally starting to practice more of what I’ve been learning on your channel for several years. So, thank you. I hope you get some more breathing room soon.

I would vote that Ruth paint mother and daughter working together in the garden or bonding over appreciation of flowers or sunset or an insect/toad/ chickens? That way she could show the affection between the people and the interest in the garden and beauty. I really loved seeing her art! Thanks for sharing ❤ or some way to depict people care and fair share?! One of the reasons I love listening to you Angela even though I started as a gardener only.

Since Ruth is good with people maybe paint the Green Man and/or the goddess Brigid who is associated with the coming of Spring and growth. Both Brigid and the Green Man are often connected with Oak leaves and Brigid has the eponymous Brigid's Cross which might be added to the scene. As a primarily portrait/people painter myself I'll be excited to see more of her work on the shed. A panel is a good idea too as it may weather better with good Gesso primers and something to seal the panel on all sides first or eventually the weather will claim the images with time (though perhaps that is not a bad thing if intended...like ephemeral garden flowers returning to nature, kind of poetic?)

Beautiful roses. The frost over the winner did a number on my four rose plants. I’ve had to cut them all the way back. they’re starting to grow back, but the squirrels did a number on them as well. Hopefully they’ll make it. Thanks for posting.

That shed would look great with some birds. My dad has been in the hospital for a month now, so I'm with you on not being able to keep up. I've killed most of the plants I started already. The Permaculture part of my garden looks great, but my annuals are suffering from neglect.

How talented Ruth is! Her style is beautiful; reminds me of Charles Vess with a little Haiyao Miyazaki. And I struggle with the war crimes in Palestine and the cracks that continue to appear in “norms.” I’m glad my daughter is still a toddler right now because I do NOT know how I’m going to navigate explaining these things to her as she grows up.😢

I love project tree collard :) This year I got purple tree collard cuttings and I was expecting one or two of them to die but they all totally exploded in my seed starting shelf, and I just planted them out. I also ordered a Taunton Deane kale start from PTC and it was a little worse for wear from the mail but seems to have recovered nicely.

I have a request! You obviously started somewhere and have probably refined your organization methods quite a bit. Would you do a video on how you keep all of this organized? When to plant, when to harvest, when to water, how to water, how you keep everything straight so you know what’s what. Do you have a binder with all this written down? I’d love to see it!!

It's probably not a satisfying answer but my brain is like a filing cabinet and a calendar full of sticky notes and Sherlock Holmes Mind Palace but for gardening. I close my eyes and it's like a virtual version of my garden lives on my head with labels and I can scroll through the seasons and zoom in and out and open files about different sections. I also can't remember the name of two of the people I met at a BBQ earlier this evening so...

I never get my to do list done. I've decided to divide my time up by type. I know this has a name, but I can't remember the name at the moment. Specific things are done during certain times. So, I food prep on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-5. I garden Mondays 1-3pm, Saturdays 1-3pm and a half hour each morning. Cleaning is a half hour each day, plus dishes. Homeschooling 9-12, with a daily 30 minute planning session. I kept neglecting down time, so I had to add in 30 minutes of reading twice a day and two journaling sessions a week, etc... You get the idea. It's Monday at 1pm... Time to garden. Get the running to do list out and when 3pm arrives, time to move on to 30 minutes of reading. Without this, I will just garden until my nerves are raw and my body is so tired that I can't do anything else for days. Obviously, emergencies happen, but if they do, I might just move some things around that week, or say, oh well... That thing I had to do during this time is not happening this week. I also have a seasonal schedule that changes. My garden time is swapped for other things, like homeschool planning in the winter. And I don't do as much food prep during the heat of summer since that usually involves canning or using the oven, but the garden grabs that time during that season.

I remember this woman who was laying down in front of the trains transporting weapons. She was about to be crushed by the train and some activist pulled her out of the way. It totally freaked me out but she was very in the present moment and just shrugged her shoulders. She was cut from different cloth than I. Impressive.

Angela, Your problem of too many things at a time is caused by you being Ambitious and not having enough close friends to help you, isn't it? Too much at a time causes burnout and frustration. It is much better to Minimise the amount of switching tasks - the micromanagement (stress and trying to predict time and events of too many tasks) takes away from accomplishing and focusing on 1 or 2 main things. Focus on 1 or 2 things a day, every day until goal is finished (then switch goal) and remember to always have free time before sleep - this is very important for lack of frustration and burnout and poor sleep.

That little kale is cute ;) lol Last years overwintered and has been flowering for almost a month. If they stood up straight the the seed stems would probably push 7 ft maybe more. Thats about the only damage, they got knocked over by the ice. Then decided to set seed and new roots anyway lol Literally froze solid in January or February. But it's been an amazing haven for the bees. If you don't mind, my bee buddies :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGmwdoiXp5yEp8ksi=eWWV9CNT8Gk2rDEy But north of you closer to Seattle:) Hope yours bring bee buddies :) Also, the kale flowers are yummy :)

all of my Merritt tree collards survived the winter beautifully, although I covered them with buckets and sheets in our ice storm. Some of my tall purple tree collards that were at least as tall as me did not make it bc I forgot to protect them and they can't really do multiple days in a row 15 F or lower.

Collected some seeds from the Russian kale last week, still waiting on the lacinato to develop. I still have so much seed on the plants though lol Which is great because I'm watching a pair of red finch with a juvenile male stuffing themselves alongside the chickadees :) I rarely see the finches for long, but they have been here on and off since the seeds developed. But since the pods are now dry, they seem to be sticking around :)

Yep got to swallow the failures with the successes. I've done that one! I am completely behind in life too. No garden time this spring because I am going to my mom's ALL the time at the moment. I still have my winter mulch in the back of my truck with no opportunity to dig it out any time soon. Hey, as for tax dollars, they fund good too. Not just harm. I try to remember there's always two sides to the coin. It might not make up for the bad, especially the bad we are confronted with but there are very few truly bad people out there... Though between Hamas rapists and Netenyahu content with murdering innocent people, it is very hard to remember that.
