@how-i-roll-rb57966 ай бұрын
I forgot to add in other post my memory sux but not sure when you started though the crown vic is iconic and they took a lot of abuse & you could do a lot to them before they quit or died so I hope that you knew the back story on this car before you bought it though they are very reliable & why most become taxi's but depending on its previous life there are some I would steer clear of like I wouldn't buy any of the ones that I drove lol I mean I took very good care of mine I even washed it frequently at the FD but working in a rural area though not as reliable it was better when we got trucks & SUVs as the Vic's were best for pavement use not back county trails lol but times have changed there are kids getting on now that don't know how to change a flat tire or use jumper cables/boxes, though it sucks but especially in smaller areas we called it community involvement that tire you changed might of been someone who voted no on everything & it might not change their mind but it could.

Window Motor and or the actuator, all the windows might be a short so take off that panel and look for expose wires, the headlights are a faulty ford design so when you order a new peace, always double seal it with caulk, same where the vertex is make sure to over caulk there area so no moisture get in there! It not starting is cause the battery is bad or Whelen didn't do a good job wiring it to the ignition, but I highly doubt that.Valve Stem Leaking and or tire hole, water is leaking from the bottom could be a small leak inside, the truck and or the undercarriage getting water stocked under there due to not moving alot that also could be the same reason as the battery dies!
@NickOFFDuty7 ай бұрын
I took off the door panel and probably made it worse! lol...the battery was changed recently so there might be a slow trickle from something pulling from the car while its off. The tire valve blew as I was bouncing up and down, thank got I wasn't driving haha. its just a matter of finding time to do it. thanks for all the info and assessment, im gonna print this out and take it to the auto shop hahaha. be like "read this comment, it explains it all"

@@NickOFFDuty These cars are stupid easy to fix. There are a TON of resources online and on Facebook for people that own these cars who can likely help you diagnose the issues. Don't give up! I have 2 CVPI's myself and I've done a bunch of major repairs (correctly) on them, and I'm not even a mechanic. It can't get any easier on a modern vehicle. You just have to look around. 🙂

No disrespect to the shop that did the wiring & lightning for you as i am going to assume they did so as a donation. I will break this down Barney style for you, but they should of put in a battery disconnect basically if it senses your starting battery drops below certain amps it disconnects power, as you should have 2 batteries (one under the hood aka starting battery and one in the trunk to run the electronics) also there should be a solenoid in between them , its an automatic switch when your secondary battery needs to be recharged it trdnsfers power from the alternator to charge it but being a smart swith it does it in a way that you don't over charge either battery. Also most emergency vehicles have different type of batteries (better than consumer grade or your avg battery like Optima is one brand ) because of the power demand needed, though I don't know exactly the difference bc its above my knowledge (though I work in public safety & have done installs I'm not an engineer nor expert I just happen to work for municipalities that don't have big bugets so we often had to fix our own things but where I worked multiple roles i have done some pov installs) even though led lights compared to strobes is alot less power draw and though your application probably a lot different from a normal patrol car, i don't know the exact difference of power draws bc it seems like we keep adding stuff & each agency is different like most have an MDT(laptop) some have printers & some don't. I would highly recommend you talk to the shop that did your wiring & bc your life sounds like mine did before my accident or busy af I would personally either have a disconnect at your starting battery i would also like most FD's & some EMS have a kill switch inside the car(though it sounds redundant it helps in case you forget the battery switch inside you have one under the hood most required you to hit a reset almost like if you trip a breaker in your house or GFI outlet) additionally I would recommend that if the vehicle has potential to sit for a bit to have what most FD's have which is an auto-eject plug so you can plug it in say at home and it works like a trickle charger or maintainer & when you start the vehicle the plug automatically disconnects from shore power. The other option which you can do in mean time is a lot of creators have done partnerships with companies like Norco and get yourself a jump pack unlike when I or potentially we started jump packs can fit in you glove boxes(when I started they were legit vehicle batteries incased in plastic & stupid heavy) and some even have air compressors. Though it could be a device for the NOD it's something worth having around the house like say your at work & your wife battery dies she doesn't have to wait for AAA or 2nd vehicle with jumper cables. Lastly for the hide a way light honestly it's stupidly simple as long as you have a drill you need to buy a 1 inch hole saw drill bit & from experience to keep as much plastic debris out of the housing either use a shop vac or other vacuum and put it close to drill so it sucks up the shavings of plastic as it a pita to get the shavings out afterwards if you don't have a shop vac you can start the pilot hole & flip it upside down though awkward it does minimize the debris getting into the housing & going to assume you don't have a air compressor so you can use s can of compressed air thats used by computer techs & tweakers. When you go to put screws in that hold the HAW use a hand screwdriver as you don't want to strip them they only need to be snug enough to hold lastly though they come with gaskets i would still use clear silicone & put a bead around the outside or backside of light it just ensures to keep moisture out which looks better these new led haw's aren't like the old strobes haw lights in sense they are built incased of waterproof housing so the light though originally was designed for head & tail lights now can be use just about anywhere you would just need a bracket or mount. Lastly I have faith in you brother its not that hard. Also no disrespect but it's good to get out of the PIO office and get back to the streets or patrol, speaking from experience unfortunately after my line of duty accident I can't & though there are days more so shitty weather i am happy being inside but won't lie I also have many days i miss being on the line or miss certain parts of the job though I also worked in multiple roles of public safety before so for me each day was truly different. Also I am going to assume here but doing so more so as a cya bc end of the day you need to watch your six , though I don't know FL laws I know my states & most have different laws but even if you have commands permission to have said lights & tint because its technically a pov i would personally get the permits to have them & its just to cya like I went through the VA to get dmv waiver for tinted windows though even traveling i haven't been messed with all it takes is one person who doesn't understand discretion or gray area though we joke they would probably ticket their family. Stay safe man and keep up great content and hard work, its neat to see what other depts do & who knows it might help or inspire others to do similar community involvement or similar projects. Like I know one dept recently that took a seized vehicle and it clearly says on it paid for by a local dealer (every town & city has residents who bitch about what depts have or use its like MRAPS we made sure we went to community event & explained how getting said vehicles, uniforms......from DOD actually saved money & was almost free compared to ordering a bearcat also its not just a swat vehicle its can be requested or used for anything from tactical to natural disasters rescues) but antisocial media has helped & like what your doing though a small city might not be able to do exactly the same but they can use parts and end of the day a lot of us do things to help our community, as well as our brothers & sisters.
