BLE 186 (1997) MDPD, 27 years ago... MDPD pulled out of MDCC north in 1999 and started having our own academies at the training bureau in Doral...thanks Nick for the tour

I attended the old School of Justice back in the day...BLE 43. I was 2nd Platoon leader...later served 23 years with City of North Miami. Back then I couldn't even dream of the technology they have now.

I was Impressed with the mock court room! When I went thru the academy our court testimony training was good but I feel this is way better. I learned court testimony when I had to go for real 😂😂😂.

Nick have you thought about going international and coming to see how police train in other countries. Queensland police and Victoria Police I believe have the most modern academies in Australia. Queensland actually has 2 academies, as the state is so large.. one in Townsville and the main one in Brisbane. You should come down under and do a police cars episode for our response kangaroos!!

The police officer certification curriculum has a block designated for court procedures. One of the key features of working as a police officer is testifying to events that occurred in the course of duty. The facility does not have a live range.

I think anyone wanting to be an LEO must work a Correctional Facility for at least 12 months or have Serve in the Military for a Minimum of 3 years. The problem with most new recruits are they have no HIGH Stress training like the Military or working in a Correctional Facility surrounds by 100’s of Inmates. The Academy has some High Stress Training but it’s not enough. I have seen LEO’s dispatch to disturbance and depart the area due to shots being fired or they lose their temper due to the New Criminals pushing LEO’s by running their mouths looking for an Assault by the LEO to get paid thru Lawsuits. The Judicial System must create stiffer charges for anyone being disorderly during contact with LEO’s. Laws LEO’s and CO’s are under paid for their jobs. Remember, Body Cams and Vehicle Cams are your friend. Social Media and Cell Phones have created a Hostile Environment towards LEO’s. God Bless our First Responders and Stay Safe.
