Have you ever done an AMG experience at MB world Brooklands and if so how did you find it compares? I have done a few track days at random airfields and also thruxton and agree with what you say - you get very little track time and no chance to learn the track before its over and the cars are not kept as well. I did the half day at AMG and it was literally all driving other than coming in to swap cars. They also do passenger laps to show you the full potential. I am tempted to book the GT4 experience.

Hello and thank you for the comment. I have done quite a few AMG experiences also at MB world brooklands and very much enjoyed the sessions. I have them recorded here if you are interested: kzbin.info/aero/PLApEm-9raRRr0Q2-ZR0heGYlRLtPiizAU - Overall I preferred the experience at Porsche Silverstone but I would go back to MB world as I enjoyed the track time along with the quality of the cars they offered. I would recommend the GT4 experience and once you learn the track the experiences just get better in my opinion. I found that also at places like Thruxton / MB world and Porsche Silverstone as you can spend quite a lot of time learning the track to a point it does not really matter what car you drive early on. I started off with 981 Cayman GTS's, a car which I still love today, and then progressed onto a larger experience like the one in this video with some exceptional GT cars 👍

@@SamAustin Thanks. I personally found Thruxton too long and too few laps but this was quite a few years ago. I did pay extra for 3 passenger laps in an M3 with Tiff Needell which is something I will never forget. Ive done 4 experiences at MB world and all have been great (I am a big fan of the AMG V8’s) evennthe 4x4 which I was not bothered about before I tried it, but I am definitely interested to try a porsche experience for comparison as well as try a more specific track car. I never drove the GTR Pro at AMG but did do the passenger laps and it was immense.

No worries at all. We seem very similar as I also did extra passenger laps with Tiff Needell at Thruxton. He knows how to drive and shows age is just a number! I found it incredible also 🤯 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJO7kmaDetuoa5o

@@SamAustin Yeah it was funny. I did my stint in a Cayman then a Gallardo and seemed to be going past a lot of others. Then got in with Tiff and it was a different level. End of first lap with that tight chicane before the pits and we were so far rotated I honestly thought we were going off the track into the inside field but he calmly flicked the car the other way and then slid past another car with tyres smoking all whilst chatting to me about f1 qualifying etc. These top drivers make it seem like the car is out of control yet at the same time perfectly under control and running at about 80% of their potential. Weird thing to say but only way I can explain it. Anyway I will definitely book up the GT4 experience in the summer. Bit annoying you cant check availability online - in that respect MB world website is more polished.

I'm a massive Porsche fan, but I've never driven a fast car before. Which experience would you recommend to start with? I was thinking 911 S, I also want to learn how to handle RWD cars before I buy one

I would start with a 90minute session in one of the Porsche Caymans. My preference would be the GTS 4.0litre in either Manual or PDK depending on your preference. Perhaps as a beginner PDK may be best suited. It is a wonderful experience and I hope to spend more time with Porsche across my channel going forward so stay tuned for future content and I hope you find past Porsche content on my channel useful also👍

@@SamAustin awesome, thanks. I'd definitely want to go manual, I was actually thinking about the Cayman because I'm guessing it'd be easier to handle.

I'm considering buying a 911 997 and I'd like to find a driving experience on normal roads rather than a track. Any suggestions?

This one at Silverstone. You can drive it here and get a great feel for it however I do not know of any on the road personally

Great review! I was actually planning to book one for this year but never got around to it! Thinking of the GT3RS one. Any tips?

Thank you for the positive feedback! Would 100% recommend. My main tip, if you have not been here before, is to do a more entry experience first so you can get a good feel for the track, the instructors advice and a performance car as jumping straight into the RS experience might not be the best idea if you have never been here before. It is great with the RS cars but I had just as much fun in the 718 Cayman's also and those experiences helped me in stepping up to much more valuable cars on track👍

@@SamAustin Thanks Sam, that's good to know. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to track. A 718 would be good start, having briefly driven a Cayman T on the road!

Great place! Try the precision course next uses all the Porsche handling circuits, and 4x20min sessions on the GP circuit The instructor for that course will have come from a race background and definitely doesn’t hold you back, invite them to take you for a couple laps before the end of the day!, one of the best days out I ever had😊
