You are always lucky to find such cool items in the thrift store. Chair you can use under a tree for someone to sit in a cool spot on a hot summer day.

Nice work! Gotta say Nigel... for what it's worth, after watching a number of bonsai videos, I really appreciate how your production clarifies your instruction. Does that make sense. I mean, when you get right in under the canopy and illustrate what you're doing... it's pretty great, in my opinion. Nice editing work, too. Looking forward to the repot on this! Cheers!

I love this forest Nigel. Whenever Luca (my dog) hears your voice, he asks to come on to my lap and he watches with me. It’s amazing and without fail. We both love your work.

The scaring looks really good on those PAs. I also used that technique on one of my upright scheffleras with great success. Thanks, keep growing

Hi, I really appreciate you and the videos you post for us. You make the art of bonsai feel accessible to everyone. I have gotten started in the past year with Portulacaria Afra and several varieties of Jades. Thank you for all of the helpful information and instruction.

The little chair and table could be shown as a miniature version of your work table, with a tiny turning table included (and a very small tree and pot on it!)

I'm actually surprised, and slightly relieved, that large tree didn't get the big cut in this video that you've conditioned us all to want to say out loud with you. I have to say, the one on the far right is probably my favorite of the bunch. It has a sort of mesquite tree shape to it. very pleasing to look at.

Of all your landscapes, the scarring technique you used here really gives the finest replication of old, gnarled bark, in my opinion. Really excellent work, Nigel. BTW, isn't it time you gave us an update on your Socotra island landscape....its been a year now (please).... ❤️

The cast iron and chair, a small vase type display would better suit it and as for the chair, a cushion of moss or a moss ball sitting on the seat.

Looks awesome Nigel. I wonder if I am not water mine (still small) P.afra enough. Perhaps they need more than the average succulents? Anyways the scarring does seem to work just fine 😀

the scarring works well for me,too. Even if you don't get the illusion of a baobab, and it just looks like a p. Afra bonsai, p. Afra is an edible plant and rodents might have been nibbling at the trunk.

I am glad you did not chop off the big nicely tapered branch. 😅 Maybe it is an option to turn the main tree slightly to the right. Then the top branch moves more to the centre of the tree and it appears a bit like the leader of the whole tree, until the left side is developed more.

So those cuts you made over the past year or so actually made it look really nice. Question: You never had infection or any bad things happen because of the cuts on the actual trunk? I would like to try it as well as my bark is way too smooth
