I started listening to Krit recently and I feel the same way about the Krit/Cole comparison to how you feel about Cole and Wale. Once you get deeper into that southern rabbit hole you see how Cole can be a bit processed in comparison sometimes. I listened to 4ever is a mighty long time and the whole listen I could hear that Krit had all the same inspirations as Cole but just used them better, I hope the Fall Off is more ambitious. Cole just focuses a bit too much on having dope bars rather than musicality. With Cordae, any criticism of Cole applies to him but significantly more.

I HAD NO DOUBT in my mind it was a JCOLE SONG ... learning it's a Cordae song killed me you totally nailed it this is DIET JCOLE and that is saying alot because JCole to me is already a diet version of a rawer, deeper lyrical rap.

@@Swish_Reezy we are music production major college kids, cordae was an invited to do a listening party in our school. He came in our studio, started playing his album, everything was cool. Then a student wanted to ask a question to him while one of the track is done playing, Cordae’s manager basically told the student that he can’t directly talk to Cordae, as a result it got the student pretty pissed. So after another song was played, the student raised his hand and cordae saw him, thinking he has a question to ask, allowed him to say his question, and my boy just said “a lot of the songs on the album sounds mad forgettable”. Cordae stood there for a solid second and responded with “who tf is this nigga?”. The rest is just chaos.

I have never been a J.Cole fan, but clicked with Cordae when he was still a part of the YBN collective. Listening to him compared to the other two, he sounded like a breath of fresh air. I hear some of his singles, and I liked Kung Fu quite a bit. Then he dropped The Lost Boy and I liked it, although the J.Cole influence for the first time hit me like a ton of bricks. I mean dog, the production sounded like some early Cole, his cadence and his flow was Cole's, the only thing that made him unique was his tongue thrust that let me get past it (since I find J.Cole's voice boring). I think he also raps like he's an elder statesman in the fame, when he's wet-behind-the-ears and wears his influences on his sleeve. I WANT to like this nigga, he seems like he has a decent head on his shoulders, especially at his age, but he hasn't branched out and it irritates me heavy cuz dude's got potential. After watching your video, it's got me thinking. Did I like him because I was comparing him to Nahmir and the other nigga no one knows? Or was there a spark of greatness in him? At this point, I'm not sure and haven't been shown otherwise

All his features out and celebrity co-signs just make him this pseudo-industry plant of a rapper when he just needs to work with friends and manage his expectations for the output. Going by this guys logic, every single rapper to ever exist outside of the beginning of rap is a diet somebody. Flows get recycled, even by your favorites, and categorizing cordae because he has better lyricism than the rest of his class is just hypocritical period. If he's not for you thats cool but to disrespect dudes talent and classify him as a diet anyone is just dumb. Your favorite rapper is a diet someone, and so is that someone and so on and so forth. Every rapper has taken a thing or 2 from someone they've idolized that came before them. Doesnt make them a wannabe. Again by your own logic you could be a diet fantano. There's nothing that sticks out as original here. Clearly you were inspired by someone to make your content and share your bias opinions. But you're you correct? You may have drawn inspiration but you're in your own lane right? Let the dude carry the torch for the next generation that may want to listen to someone in their age group but may not be familiar with the past greats of that style of music. The negativity is unnecessary and bad content fr fr.

@ReedMySole Most or you? Again going by your logic "most" people don't listen to rap period so in reality most people didn't check out anyone's albums this year. It's negativity. Say it for what it is and don't sugarcoat it in the public eye. When you do that it comes off as envy and "most" people ain't into that type of energy. It's cool to have your opinion but don't be surprised when you start developing a negative community because that's what your projecting out onto their screens. It's hard to grow in this community. he's just not that compelling, he has rap ability but not much to say, doesn't grab you emotionally and lacks the delivery and punch that would make you remember his lyrics later i don't think its something that can be taught because as an artist you must be compelling to your audience, and captivate them and win them over with your substance your story and personality but alot his content comes off as surface level, not to mock him because its a certain type of audience that's far but i think mostly people want more than that, something they can sink their teeth into and he just doesn't offer it, in another era of hip hop he'd never make it as far as he has because he's just okay not great not bad, he's just unremarkable

Diet Diet J. Cole? So like Caffeine Free J. Cole Zero Sugar? 😆 I don't know that I would say he sounds like J. Cole as much as he sounds like others that came before him. I think he would benefit greatly by working on a unique flow and delivery. So I agree with the "Cordae's music is easy to forget" sentiment. I am also not saying it's bad, just that it's not great.

@Duge6124 I totally get that. For me it’s about style over substance. I think coal is a lyricist as Wale is but Wale always strikes me as someone who has more to say beyond the thought put into the pen work. Plus Wale stays with that unappreciated chip on his shoulder while Cole always gets his flowers. I think it shines through differently in their projects. I’d say Pusha-T is somewhere in that Wale space as well with that under appreciate air that translates into solid projects.
