I agree with you with Sean. Sean was suppose to be up there with the big 3. Dope lyrcist catchy songs but just was always missing something. Wale kinda in that same realm where I thought career would’ve been better.

People forget Big Sean invented a flow that Rappers bit (Drake) back in the 2010s. Plenty artist that don't get their recognition! Big Krit is another! Krit is Lyrically better than Drake but didn't sell his soul to the industry. Whoever you see the most and constantly at the TOP, definitely sold their souls for riches and fame. Wicked Industry, they gotta do rituals and things they don't want to just to stay relevant😂 ! Do your homework!

Big Sean’s delivery causes issues with believability. And I believe there’s 5 traits any rapper should have and it’s 1) Delivery 2) Flow 3) Cadences 4) Lyrical Ability & 5) Believability. And I say this in terms of we may not believe what any given rapper is talking about but their delivery makes us want to. However with Sean, it’s the inverse; his flows and cadences are there. And his lyrical ability is pretty on par with a few others in his weight class but I believe delivery is so uniquely tied to his believability that it calls me to dismantle or question what he’s discussing. Personally, I’ve always said if Big Sean had Tyga’s voice he’d be way further. But his inflections are just a bit to monotone to really get a feel for his music, IMHO.

In being kind to Sean...he suffered from factors both within and out of his control Like with Drake and the Supa Dupa flow jacking...I don't think Drake stopped there If you listen to Sean's IG and Off The Radar freestyle, that deadass sounded like post-2018 lyrical Drake and I thought "Wait, Sean is jacking Drake?" Then I realized that Sean has been-been rapping in this style but it's found a way to belong to Drake (considering Drake did it kinda better🤷🏾‍♀️) Heaven knows how much music he's given to Ye...even to Sean's own musical evolution detriment And in these brothers being wayyy bigger and more adored than him, I think that had an effect on him finding his own special trait/defining sound

I think this was spot on. When Sean was signed to good music I think the production and delivery was heavily influenced by the foundation ye and the Good branding behind that. Not saying Sean doesn't have a voice or that he was book bagging ye. I just think since he parted ways with Ye you could tell he doesn't make you really "FEEL" like you were saying. I think he's aware with this on his delivery but it's like....where do you really go from there at this point...

I'm a huge fan of his music but I mostly agree with the criticisms of his music. He has some of the most impressive flows Iv ever heard from a mainstream rapper, but he's not amazing at sticking to themes. He's also quite monotone. This works for dark beats cause they make him sound confident, but he only did that on DSP.

I've been attacked in the comments many a time for say i don't see the appeal in Big Sean. He has a few hot lines but for the most part he's mediocre. I'm not a Drake fan but he puts better use of Sean's flow than Sean. Someone in the comments said he's like a Fabulous which i can see but Fabulous has his "thing". What's Big Sean's thing? Motivation for the underdogs? If so, he's saying the right things but he's not selling it well. I want to like Sean but his delivery is an odd off-putting combination of unenthusiastic yet arrogant.
@romaretaylor9953
@romaretaylor9953 Күн бұрын
That was me. What do you think fab’s thing is? Cause in 2024 it’s harder to tell and I feel like Sean is building a more memorable catalog of albums rn With more substance and creativity. If this was a decade ago I’d have Drake over Sean to for sure but now? Nah, detorit 2 is better than CLB FATD and HN, he doesn’t have to be your fav but if you don’t see his growth/improvement from 2010-11 to now you clearly have a bias against him that Sean can’t do anything about. Also listen to the last 2 songs he dropped I don’t hear what you hear in his delivery he sounds inspired and peaceful not arrogant.

I think Big Sean is starting to be seen as the “corny rapper” list of talents. Bro is definitely a good artist and he found good success back in the day. I think overtime the industry changed over to darker tones of signing actual street rappers who were into killing and doing legit crimes which made others rappers seem uncool or unappealing to the newer generations because everything turned into a contest on who could be the most vile artist ever. Once chief Keef and Flocka came out everything started changing rapidly.

Dark Sky Paradise in my opinion is the best work he's ever done. He truly outdid himself there, and has yet to top it. DSP was so damn good, dude was really in his whole bag for that one. I Decided was still good, but it just didn't have that magic that DSP had. Still solid though.
