Something for everyone to consider is that for every time a manufacturer has to present a new design to an existing model prices go up adding parts to change the performance to the car is good enough. Adding more carbon and redesigned areas would cost more meaning higher msrp and higher dealer markups. Their goal is to make it as affordable as possible. Easy to nick pick but they have their reasons. That’s what the aftermarket companies are for.

Another simple thing i wish they would have changed/ brought back is the taillights bring back the clear euro style lights like on the C7 Z06 or atleast have a option for them.

Maybe someone has said it, but you're looking at this backwards. This was designed first. They are essentially removing/normalizing elements as you go down the line. Your statement at 11:55 completely illustrates that. If you notice, every "add on" completely has enough space for what it is. Nothing looks squeezed in or bolted on. The "add-ons" fit perfectly within the parameters of the car. If you notice, every performance aero pack has unpainted carbon aero bits. They are trying to push a certain image with the performance versions, while the normal Stingrays and Eray have a more sleek and consistent look where most of the car is "body" colored. These aren't mistakes. They are catering to the audience and its working.
@MonacoAutoDesign4 ай бұрын
@@rantanamo the way they had to design these cars is dictated by the cost required to produce them - which is what makes corvettes great value for the money. Recycled parts keep cost low. They may have planned for this way ahead of time, but the only way they would be able to accomplish that is with modular design to keep cost down which can lead to some features looking like add ons. The rear quarter vents could’ve been more integrated but they couldn’t do that because they had to use the same hatch as the Stingray, which means they’re not making new molds, which means they’re instead just cutting a hole and sticking in a carbon piece. If that wasn’t the case, they would’ve made them look integrated like they did in the concept sketch I showed. Again, I think this car is insanely good, and can overlook those small details because of the value for the money and its performance. Trust me, I want one lol.

The car looks as good as ever.All those functional vents and louvers to keep the engine cooler make the car look as exotic as any corvette has ever look.GREAT JOB TO THE ENGINEERS AT GM!

The wishbone design they got on Z06 was to get to this point. They developed This and cut down on this to make Z06 and even Stingray they had ZR1 as the End product in design point of view not performance. Tadge Juechter said it himself. That the designs the frame the aero and everything on C8 lineup was developed for this and the ones before were simplified versions of this.

Exactly this - too many angles and unnecessary details just to fill body panels. Nothing flows, no consistency, no overall theme. I can't wait until car designers who grew up with Transformers retire.

Should've done the front fenders from C8Z06 GT3, and done the brake ducts/side blades from GT3 car as well instead of incorporating the ducts into the wishbone. Also they should have added a second set of smaller canards above the original canards.

I do like it but again they should’ve made the front look different and those rear vents on the hatch should’ve been more subtle or something. I’ll probably end up keeping my C8/Z07 because you know this is gonna be about 209k base and it doesn’t even sound as good as the Z06 Also I’m willing to bet the ZTK package is going to be on constraint lol

Pricing should be interesting with this. Could absolutely justify a $ 209k base price, I'd be curious to see if it's that big of a price jump between ZR1 and Z06, tho - time will tell! And yea, constraints are definitely on the horizon, lol. Thanks for watching.

The base C8 is gaudy enough, with the Z06, ERay and now ZR1 putting the gaud on steroids. Impressive specs, but let's be honest, these are now exclusive toys for millionaires, and most millionaires are going to go for a McLaren or Lamborghini over a Chevy. Personally its of my opinion that the c8's design though not horrifically bad, is no where near what imo it couldve and to the highest degree, should have been. This design is just generic to me. Its improved a bit in its higher tier iterations, but overall its forms and shapes are just generic. triangles and straight lines. Now i do understand that bias in regards to it being an american sports car is somewhat at play in my evaluation, BUT!! it to that evaluation where i find what to me are design flaws. 1, its not really a beautiful design. Lamborghini has mastered such forms all the while incorporating curves and sentuality atop of their outrageous design language, This is accomplished by their attention to shapes and forms communicating with one another. American designers often (less now than before thank god) have long had a tendacy to design without shapes and forms having a relationship to one another. shapes lines and forms clashing with one another in the worse ways. Throwing off any coherency in design. as such the cars tended to look off or somehow wrong in design. The C8's problem is the same problem its lead designer has had in majority of his career efforts. he designs with a limited palette that doesnt speak well with one another. youve seen it in majority of his vehicles. and though this car is striking, face to face in reality much still comes across as a lock of skills in design. consider what a child would create if you ask him or her to draw a sports car. youd get much of what we see here a lack of mental design tools. This car being what it is, in the generation it is, and its first outing as a mid engine sports car, shouldve been without flaw. a jaw dropper. and i remember seeing it first in person and something about it just seemed cheap visually. Now it can be said as mentioned that much has improved over the iterations. z06 does look better than stingray, and E-ray with its better paint executions kinda ties loose ends up. and now we have ZR1, which on one end further improves but also reveals those limitations and what we have and what couldve been. Its the same thing you see with the Hennessey Venom, as a performance car, both of these hit home runs, im not on about performance, its stella, but when doing whats been traditionally a European thing, one must pay attention to details, and thats where US auto designers often fail. but look at the Ford Mustang, the Shelby's they look awesome, but was designed by a European, who paid close attention to form, language communication proportions etc. while GM/Chevy designers seem to be a team of guys all in their cubicals hacking away without knowing what the next guy is doing, then slapping it all together hoping it will somehow all work. I know this sounds harsh, but its true. the C8 its not a bad looking car. but it shouldve absolutely shouldve looked FAR FAR better. just look at the new Lotus and latest mclarens, heck the new Maserati, design languages that work . The corvette is a stellar performance car, ZR1 to die for, but dog gonnit it shouldve looked better.

Who cares about the design... it's a GM product so quality control is horrific! They can keep their lower powered C8's from blowing transmissions and engines you think adding several hundred more HP will make things better? It's a running joke how bad C8's are, how quickly many blew up.

Looks like shit.... It looks like they took a car and just bolted a bunch of aftermarket mods rather than actually designing them into the car. I get it. This is a production model vehicle trim that has to stay true to the base production vehicle. Major drastic changes make it a new generation (C9) that’s years away. Everything that’s been added is for function for performance. I believe with Zora possibly a newer skin body which is based on the C8. I don’t think they just add electric motors and that it. I can’t wait to get mine!
