All that money to build bland race cars when you know they could have built something where full throttle is too much for the car. The corvette IS amazing but it shows how good engineering is these days. It’s not bland. (I’ll admit stylistically I’m not into it so much. The sixties and early seventies were great looking vettes but the razor-cuts styling ain’t my cup o’ tea. The C4 ZR1 was a monster back in the 90s. That car was no joke. 4 Cam 32 Valve DOHC LT5 engine that will rev to the moon. It was eating cars left and right back then and best of all, it was Naturally Aspirated. GM's first-ever King Of The Hill top of the top Corvette. And now, I see the same spirit in the C8 ZR1. The King has returned once more.

The GT at least has the homologation special gold card. Say what you want about who actually built the thing, but BoP shenanigans aside, the GT escalated force deployment in LMGTE so significantly by its very presence that Porsche built a mid-engined RSR to counter it. That's more heritage than most cars will ever have, C8 ZR1 included.

Not bad for America... It took 8 generations, (71 years) but Corvette has finally made its first real SuperCar. To me they always nudged the edge of a Sports Car and SuperCar, but for the C8 ZR1, it's undeniably a SuperCar. When the C8 was first shown off back in 2020, I fell in love with the platform and design immediately. I have been chomping at the bit for the ZR1 to come out, and now it has. This thing is truly amazing for a US manufacturer to create. Thank full it doesn't look like a typical US manufactured SuperCar. It's not "big" for "big" sakes. It's not "over powered" for "over powered" sakes. Everything looks and sounds like it has a purpose. The design language looks right. It's uniform, no random drop offs. Amazing angles, and aggressive lines. Great job Corvette for joining the SuperCar world.

This is an excellent video that really captures the passion the Corvette team brought to the ZR1. I was honestly a bit meh on the car reading about it -- another 1000+ hp car in an age where EV sedans accelerate like supercars. The video really captured more on the story of the car and why it exists: EV-like rolling acceleration with the sound and experience of a traditional ICE supercar. Well done Mr. Lagos and team!
