I was playing around in blender with some 2.5D pixel art inspired by you a few weeks ago, now I’m thinking of returning to it. Thanks for this tutorial. I’ll be honest, I thought the process was much more complicated (because the end result is so exceptional), but it seems to roughly follow other pixel art workflows I’ve seen. Can’t believe you don’t have a wider audience (yet) 😊 PS-have you seen the art from the unreleased game The Last Night? It looks to be compositionally similar to your own but with a much different vibe. I love both.
@timmorrow14 ай бұрын
Glad you're returning to it! I think the process isn't too complex its more about layering things and taking the time to get the results you want :) thankyou for kind words! Yes absolutely I've seen the last night its been a big inspiration to me, love the visuals in that. As well as narita boy incredible lighting and post processing both beautiful projects that inspired me as to what can be done with pixels

So you draw the pixel art in photoshop and then project the individual layers on objects in blender? That is one of the most clever workarounds I've ever seen to get pixel art in Blender. Thanks for sharing!
@timmorrow14 ай бұрын
Thanks! it is possible to render with pixel art shaders etc in blender but I find you don't get much control over how it looks. I do use pixel art shaders for specific things that have more organic movement, but if the object isn't animating I think just drawing it gets the best results

all of your work reminds me of how donkey kong country on the snes would have sprites that are just low resolution images of 3d models. it kinda just gives me that feel but if it was done as a stylistic choice and not due to a restraint of hardware🫶
