I enjoyed the video and the photos are amazing, but what was really news here? Most of it was basic photography know-how, except from the interval function, which I didn't know my camera has.

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. It's hard to find people to commit to crazy photo ideas (and asking the same people over and over) so I've recently been photographing myself. It's difficult and moreso to find content on it. I stummbled across you (goldmine) and plus you do fantasy photography? It's perfect!

I wanted to learn a new skill today, self shot portraits in beautiful landscapes, so I decided to go to KZbin University to take Selfie 101, and this was the first video that popped up; I am now in love with your photography and will work on this new skill that you explained so well. Thank you so much for your incredible work! Dreamy work 😍

Really inspiring stuff! I recently found myself brave enough to start taking self portraits in nature and that is thanks to you! I don't know where it will take me or what it will teach me but I'm ready and excited! So far it's been really fun and a new way for me to express my creativity and also express my feminine side which I haven't done ever to be honest ❤ lots of love and keep doing what you're doing! Such magic you create! Not only in finding such amazing places on earth, but with your clothes, your hair and your fluid movements and poses. I aspire to take one decent selfie, but it may forever elude me. I'm going to give it a go though. I have a Sony, so now I know how to shoot consecutively without a remote. Thank you so much for sharing, your knowledge, expertise and the beauty you discover in our world.

I love this. My stuff ends up all over the place at the end of my filming shoots too lol. You can’t bother with it till the end since like you said, the light is fading. That was crazy you got that cow being a bit aggressive on camera. You’re braver than me, I think I would have totally left the area away from him lol. I do video so it’s different than me, but that’s such a neat idea to do a Timelapse for your shots. When I film video alone, there is an app that works with my camera that allows me to start recording from a distance, but I too have a problem with the distance range it works with, so sometimes I just have to run back & forth to push the record button over & over & over. I definitely get my exercise!

Thank you for sharing your process. Your work is amazing! I had no idea about the interval shooting function on Sony cameras! How do you make sure that the focus is sharp on you for these self-portraits? Since you're far enough back from the camera are you just placing the focus area on the tree?

@ElizabethGaddPhotography
@ElizabethGaddPhotography Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Christy! I mostly find my locations by endless exploring and hiking and travelling. I might know a little beforehand about a general area (like Fanal Forest in Madeira), and then I spend a few days or weeks exploring that area to find all the potential photo possibilities. 😍

Great video and images. Pretty sure that is a cow, like as in a female one LOL. I think I saw her female cow parts on the underside. Isn't that location amazing? I was there in April and did some IR, do you ever use that in your self-portraits? Oh by the way I found you from Renee Robyn's video, she's a friend of mine also

Elizabeth, great video. My only question is since you are shooting at 1.2 when you focused on the base of the tree and then raised it up when you’re in the picture, wouldn’t that fall off very quickly where you wouldn’t be in focus? in other words, just the tree bark might be the only thing razor sharp?

Your work is so impressive and it is amazing to get a glimpse into your process. I'd ask though, how do you go about finding these locations and making sure that you are in the right place during spectacular conditions? I've been camping and hiking the Canadian Rockies and wilderness for 30+ years and while locations are often spectacular the conditions you seem to find frequently are extremely rare. (dense fog, god rays, vivid sunsets, etc). Do you employ strategies to increase your odds of perfect conditions? Or do you just return to the same location over and over and over until the perfect conditions arise? Most of the time when I say climb out of my tent at the break of dawn, its either just a typical overcast day or a clear unremarkable sky. I'm still awash with love for being able to experience it, but what you capture seems otherworldly and isn't something I've encountered more than once or twice in the wild.
