Thank you so much for sharing such a personal story about your relationship with your parents. It moved me deeply, and reminded me of my own relationship with my parents: how I thought I knew better than them. They were both semi-literate immigrants who worked hard doing manual work and only wanted the best for us. They were both Catholics and my mother in particular was very devout, never wavering in her faith. She accepted the teaching of the Church with 'humility and docility' - to use your lovely phrase. After a lifelong intellectual odyssey away from the Church, in the end it was her example which brought me back. Sadly, both my parents are no longer with us for me to thank them - but I regularly pray for them instead. Thank you again for your touching story, in which the personal example of your parents, rather than 'theology' was the main reason you returned to Mother Church. God bless you!

My dad was not like that at all and I pray for his soul constantly but I have to accept that he may or may not be in heaven, only God knows where he ended up. However, it sounds like there's little question about where a stalwart Christian like your father ended up and I hope more people can be blessed to have wonderful parents like yours. The reception of the Sacraments which are only valid in the Roman Catholic Church results in deep grace of humility within the Christian soul. The Sacrament of Penance offers deep grace and humility. This is the difference between my 10 years as a Protestant and now being Catholic for 9 months as a revert the Holy Spirit is the working through the reception of the Sacraments to increase virtue and holiness and heal vice - pride, judgmentalism, greed, fear etc. As a Protestant I lived in active mortal sin because they did not offer me the Sacraments. It’s that simple 🙏❤️🙏God bless you ❤️❤️

The Bible tells us that Enoch was assumed into heaven body and soul (like Mary) even though he wasn't a Christian OR a Jew. Elijah was assumed body and soul even though he wasn't a Christian. And we know that Moses is in heaven because of the Transfiguration even though he also wasn't a Christian. God has his own criteria for who he desires to have with him in heaven. I do my best not to judge others as to who is a good Christian and who isn't, who God loves, and who God does not. But sometimes it's hard not to argue theology even though proper theology undoubtedly matters more to us than it does to God.
@HAL9000-su1mz22 күн бұрын
I have been taught, and understand the scriptures to say that God took Enoch - it did not say where. And the scripture is very cryptic. We may assume heaven, but heaven was closed until Christ ascended. The same with Elijah, he was carried into 'heaven", which can mean simply the sky above - the "light of heaven" as it was known in Tobit. Christ Himself said that no one had ascended except Him who had first DEscended. John 3:13. As to the Transfiguration, it seems both Moses and Elijah had to appear from Sheol, or the abode of the righteous dead. Could it be that they were messengers of the Messiah to those holy souls in spirit prison (1 Peter 3:19), as Peter wrote?

@@tony1685the ark of the covenant is the foreshadowing of st. MARY . If you read Revelation, you see the ark is in heaven. Triumphalism is a big problem. It's off-putting to those in and outside the Church. We should focus on who we are rather than who we are not. Converts from evangelical sects often import the fingerwagging approach still employed in those traditions. Love, humility, hope and service should be the beacons of the faith and serve as the invitation to its practice. The wars of religion in the West are over. Good riddance.
