When this album first dropped I remember seeing a lot of people on Instagram saying it would have to grow on them because it was disappointing but it’s mostly because people weren’t listening to it in order at first, Which i’m glad people are doing much more now because this album is magical in the proper order!

Thank you for sharing your review I always find it so interesting to see and hear how The Weeknd hits with people and the perspective each one has It's obvious that for many of us the one is hitting different It's not an easy to digest project You have to kind of be willing to plunge into the deepest end of the Ocean to fully absorb and appreciate this one It's not what I wanted or expected but it's so much more than that I totally get how it hit your emotions especially at the end and I confess that I was very emotional listening to a few of the tracks. I shed tears .. I got goosebumps . I felt so many different feelings highs and lows and I legit feel like this connects on a deeper more emotional and spiritual level. It is nothing less than amazing. I am in awe I think this project is going to be treasured more and more over time .

thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. i’m so glad the album impacted you just as much emotionally. that’s why i look to art so much in times of need because of the emotional power it can have. i agree it’s an album that definitely requires the audience to look really deeply into it, especially with how it discusses themes like death. it’s not a comfortable topic, but it’s one that i am glad Abel and co. decided to focus on. it just really hit me at the end because one of the main things that’s changed for me recently is just trying to be happy with the present and let go of my past and just appreciate the feeling of now more. and that’s part of what this album is about so much, and the way it executes its exploration of that is beautiful. i agree this album is going to age well, and i am again so happy you enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for this reaction. Definitely been expecting it since the After Hours reaction was so damn good and authentic. Love the way you analyse things and react with your emotions. So good to see how authentic you are, and i'm so glad you're feeling better. Personally i was extremely disappointed, as i am a HUGE fan of After Hours, which is basically the perfect album for me. I was disappointed on every level with Dawn FM, even more knowing he started with something sadder and darker at first. BUT it is a grower indeed, and it gets better and better. The production is phenomenal, the concept is extremely cool and deep, and the vocals are amazing. Even though i love the meaning of it, the afterlife feeling and everything, even though a good half of the album is growing on me, i cannot put this album besides After Hours, which felt lyrically so good, and so dark despite the 80s feeling. I mean i get it, leaving the darkness behind, and i'll admit the album's pretty good, but its not really the best Abel to me, and i really think this is below After Hours even from a lyrics standpoint. Difficult to judge Abel's work as we are so used to pieces of art and amazing work... I'll just say this is a very good album, a grower, but it can't compete with After Hours to me.
