Oh, you played the tuba. That's awesome! I play the french horn and I'm always happy to see other brass players around. More brass to the people! 😁 The tuba in this case is a double bell euphonium though. Still the coolest thing ever. 😊

Great reaction! They put out an EP with this collab, it’s really great and with s couple of instrumentals that’s amazing to an old jazz-funk-fusion lover like me. Funny thing about these videos, they’re filmed on different continents. Dirty Loops in Sweden and Cory and the brass in the US. Aron, who also edited the video, gave instructions on things like lamps, type of camera used, carpets and then edited it to make it look like they’re in the same studio.

Hey Carl, glad you dug this one ;) It’s one crazy cover of Thriller 💥💥💥 Like all of their other covers, Dirty Loops always completely make any song their own and give it a very unique spin. They’ve started out like this, doing covers (check out their first EP ‘Loopified’). Absolutely insane covers of pop songs, plus a few of their own, all of it just mind blowing. I think you’d dig that as well. This collab here came about during the COVID and lockdown years. Cory, based in the US, had heard and loved what the Loops were doing and so got in touch with them to ask whether they should do a collab. This album ‘Turbo’ is the result. Birger already mentioned the crazy story of both bands, unable to travel and to meet up in person, creating all of the tracks, the arrangements -everything, and finally the video, -from their two respective, separate continents. Every track on this album is laced with exquisite horn playing. Some of them are more Cory-led, others more Dirty Loops-heavy. Some of those horn players are original members of Prince’s ‘Hornheadz’, now known as Hornheads. The guy playing that Double Bell Euphonium is Michael Nelson, a composer, arranger and outstanding musician in his own right. Together with Dirty Loops he co-wrote all of those horn arrangements, All of these guys and girls are phenomenal. Dive deeper into this album and you’ll find out. I’m glad you’re finding your feet with Dirty Loops. They’re worth every ounce of attention I reckon 👍 From that same album, check out “Follow the Light” and “Turbo” next if you’ve liked this collaboration so far. 👍 Thanks for this reaction.

Fun fact: The two groups never played in the same room in making this video. Cory Wong and his horns played and recorded the song as if they were playing with Dirty Loops, but they both actually recorded their parts in different parts of the world (Sweden for Dirty Loops) and then edited them together to look like is was one session, and it worked great. The guys from Dirty Loops never met Cory in person until a few years later after the song and video came out at an unrelated event. Technology today. Thanks for the review.

That "tuba" is a double belled euphonium. They were quite common in European brass bands starting in the early 1900's and petering out in the 1950's. Never really caught on in North America due to symphonic snobbery. A shame because they're vastly superior (although heavier and more expensive). Usually in 5 valves, three are used for the lower tones and larger bell with the other two for the smaller bell which produces a much brighter tone almost like a valve trombone. The fingering is a bit tricky to figure out at first lol. You can play call and response, echo or even some harmony which the musician in the video was doing. They're now being sold again and are one of the hottest "new" instruments because of their unique attributes. The three brass players with Wong on this video used to be with Prince. The euphonium/trombone player plays quite regularly with Wong.

Two of the brass players and one saxophone player were with Prince (the three older guys in the group).
