Bollocks. England went toe to toe with the best country in the world at the moment, a team that have not lost in 34 matches, a team that never concide more than a goal a game and took them to the lottery of a penelty shoot out. That's not bottling anything. I'm proud of them.

Look, I feel sorry for the players, manager and other staff members for losing the final on penalties. It is horrible to lose the game in home turf. So I wish everyone good luck with processing this tragedy. On the other hand ... Good God, me and many other friends from different continents were so happy that Italy won because we hated the manner in which some England fans, media and pundits behaved. To sum it up: - The whole 'football is coming home' nonsense - Online abusing children from different countries. I.e. the crying German girl. - Booing the national anthems from the opponents - Racially abusing your own players. Especially after taking the moral high ground with BLM and other campaigns - Calling other football leagues 'farmers leagues' - Attacking Italian fans in the metro and illegaly entering Wembley Stadium, while abusing 19 police officers I really hope that the players and other members of the England squad do not get the abuse from entitled fans who misbehaved during the entire tournament or other horrible human beings. After all, the members of the England squad absolutely overachieved and the penalty shoot-out is a lottery.

This. I feel sorry for all English players. I feel sorry for all English fans who don't behave like hungover 4th graders. But those idiots who are the loudest, are those who let other people hate England's national team. And I'm sad that I have to argue with other people, because I was rooting for England. Just because those brain-dead donkeys calling themselves "Proud Englishmen" abuse other countries fans and even their own players.
@emilymcplugger3 жыл бұрын
@Martin Tielemans As an England supporter I feel your criticism is a tad harsh. I’ll explain why? I think the top two teams DID make the final. Both teams built their tournament on a strong defence (Pickford got the Golden Glove and was outstanding last night) and both teams have had similar journeys with Italy rebuilding after failing to qualify for the World Cup and England after their defeat to Iceland. As for the whole “Football’s coming home” thing, I share your annoyance with that. I for one have greatly enjoyed the low expectation/relaxed atmosphere around England at these finals and it’s created a much better climate for the players and the fans with some intelligence to enjoy games. I hope this continues and the team’s development. As for all the racists, thugs, arseholes, media cockwombles and political titw@nks…yeah, they can all fluck off. Oh, and Italy were the better team after the first half hour and congrats to them. 👏👏👏👏
@martintielemans3 жыл бұрын
True that. I understand the significance behind the song, but some fans have made it incredibly annoying to hear. I hope that there is more humility in the next tournament and the players can recover from the Euros.
@crystalDM963 жыл бұрын
Southgate's selection of the penalty takers were based on the results from the successful 2018 World Cup penalty shootout: *1. Selecting players who weren't playing for penalties (eg. Rashford & Sancho)* In the 2018 penalty shootout, Rashford was also a very late substitute who was subbed on purely to take penalties. Even though he didn't play in the entire game, or most of the other games in the tournament, he still executed his penalty perfectly in 2018 *2. Not excluding young players from the penalty shootout* Again, in the 2018 shootout, Rashford was only around 19 or 20 years old. Even though he was very young - his penalty was one of the best ones, proving that young players can deliver. Saka was also already starting nearly every game in the Euros. *3. Not selecting Henderson* Henderson missed in the 2018 world cup. When Henderson stepped up to take the penalty in the 2018 world cup, he looked really stressed and a lot of people complained then about why he was chosen to take the penalty. And considering Henderson's penalty record, it makes sense that he was excluded. *4. Not selecting Grealish* I'm not entirely certain why ppl complain about bringing on Rashford & Sancho for penalties, and at the same time say Grealish should have taken one since Grealish was also a sub in the game & hasn't played much this whole tournament. I personally feel that if Grealish was chosen to take a penalty, and he missed, everyone would be slating Southgate for using Grealish as his scapegoat. All in all I would have preferred players like Sterling and Stones to take one - but I can also see why Southgate made these choices

Maybe these "kids",using that quite generously, got a lifetime lesson. People go through a lot more troubles than missing a penalty. These kids got the honor to play a ec final. If they are humble enough and grateful to be able to play professional football they will be future champions. This defeat is not the end of world. And kids across the world are having more troubles than this. And the horrible reactions come from people who aren't grounded in the first place... Come on @irishguy they'll be fine.
