If you notice, this video actually shows three different versions of MJ. The final version is the older Jordan who was very methodical and cerebral with his movements, but not as explosive as his younger self. This was the version of Jordan that Kobe emulated. Then there was the 1990 to 1993 version of Jordan who was basically the best player to ever play the game. Then there was the 1984 to 1989 version of Jordan who was basically an alien!

@cyber6sapien I do like the way you break down MJ into three versions, and I agree with your assessment for the most part. My timeline is a bit different, but same concept. I always say that my favorite version of Jordan was ‘87-‘92 MJ - basically between when he won his first Dunk contest through after completing the Olympics on the (only real) Dream Team. He was was still high flying and relentlessly attacking the rim (especially in ‘87-‘89), while still peaking in his athletic prime, but was also a bit more seasoned, polished, and experienced at this point than he was in his younger, new and fresh in the league years - by this point he was more established and commanded much more respect! (not that he wasn’t also respected in ‘84-‘86), than his earlier days...

It's not that "nobody jumps with Bron" - it's that the paint is WIDE OPEN as compared to 25-30 years ago due to 3-pt spacing and jumpshooting stretch big-men and the 3-sec defensive lane violation. There are also practically no shotblocking big men left anymore who simply camp out inside and wait for penetration. Jordan would FEAST on this weak-ass, wide-open NBA. Dude finished over and around multiple defenders every time in the paint and now it's wide open. He'd destroy the league today.

In regards to Goat Kobe was closest because of mindset and responsibility. Once you hit that level of player in Goat discussion everything on you. You saw the flack MJ was getting for "the way" he treated teammates! Imagine whether it's MJ\Kobe\LeBron has a huge night, whether getting 40 or 50pts or LeBron gets a triple double. All 3 of those dudes are up and in the gym at 7am the next day. MJ looked at as why do I gotta score 40 pts and get up early to work out before shoot around and I got bum team mates who went out last night? We obviously not on same page! MJ is 6-0 in Finals LeBron 3-6 how many times have we heard that? We not talking about D Wade, Bosh, Love, or Kyrie just LeBron! Ultimately, my struggle w LeBron is this. His game has never developed, he has played same style. No matter coach, team, or talent around him. The flaw in what he is doing in always being ball dominate and primary point guard.. Is energy and who he is relying on. Being ball dominate means at 260 lbs he is spending a lot of energy dribbling isolating defenders, driving to basket and kicking to open bums! That is wasted energy. Dude is human. He is getting bagged on because he hasn't played tough D since he hit 30ish. Think about this, MJ score 37pts a game in 88 then 35pts a game in 89. Then lost in game 7 to repeat World Champs because Pippen had migrane and barely played scored 2 pts. Only other All Star he had ever played w at that point. So now coach gets fired, new system. He accepted it. Team game. Instead of being so ficused on scoring all the time make team better score when needed. Play team basketball for 3 quarters and do enough to keep game close until 4th quarter then take over. This is what Phil taught him and he did it all of the 90's. Basically never not won a Championship. If MJ or Kobe who mimicked Mike's game need a bucket the let their point guard carry ball up the floor run down to the post, catch a pass 1 or 2 dribbles fade away, bucket, walk or jog back to Defense. Low energy bucket ready for defense. LeBron on the other carries ball up floor spends all kinds of energy getting into the lane. Either goes for tough lay up or dunk or kicks out to open guy. That's worth it for Ray Allen, not a lot of other guys. Now LeBron is standing under or near hoop and if he is lucky, layup or shot goes in it not has to fight for rebound. Then hustle back in Defense. All of that to have a couple extra assist and or rebounds a game. It's great but for his game style he had either Bosh or Love standing in the corner at the 3pt line for "spacing" both were 20 to 25 PT guys w 12 to 15 rebounds a game before playing w LeBron as post players. MJ didnt tell Horace Grant or Rodman go Stand at 3pt line to clear the lane. The excelled at rebounding so he let then rebound. Ultimately as I said it's Lebrons Legacy. How many Finals has he given away because he is relying or working hard to get 4th and 5th option players good looks. How many Championships does a person have to loose to reevaluate things?

Don't ask why there is two of me just go with it. On Lebrons team I go 2 for 13 hiring to put back layups missing 11 jump shots cause I suck. On Jordan's team I go 1 for 2 on easy shots, he makes me set 11 picks, 6 assist and a black eye from Jordan punching me cause I suck lol but we won by 9!

Jordan caught more bodies not just because of his aggressive playstyle, but because of the era. 7 of the top 10 players in BLOCKS played their PRIME during Jordan's era... He drove and dunked on some of the greatest rim protectors of all time. Unfortunately, the rules in today's game have pretty much eliminated big men from the paint, so posterizing dunks and soul-crushing blocks like this aren't nearly as common anymore. And you're not alone... My favorite player of all time is Hakeem Olajuwon, but I recognize Michael Jordan as the GOAT.

7:46. His footwork and quickness was insane I'm surprised you ain't get hype off that play.

tbh, the true debate should be over no. 2 and i don't think Bron is in that category either. Bird was no. 2

@@alwaysdontae Here are links to some other videos that you may enjoy watching... First one is of Bird. He is very under-appreciated and under-mentioned today. He was on another level from everyone else. So is Magic. Both of these guys’ games were sick, and the arguments could be made that they are debatably 1(a) and 1(b) if Jordan is 1, or at least both on Mount Rushmore. Magic and Bird are forever linked and intertwined. Here’s a link to Bird’s mixtape: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npS7p2OAqd-Bh6M Here is Magic’s mixtape: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKm8iHRvqrKGq6M Check these additional videos out to see what Showtime Lakers, led by Magic, were all about... Here’s a few other videos that are very good watches for fans of Magic, or for people who may not know much about Magic but want to learn more about him as a player, or for people who seem to underestimate his greatness and may need some extra convincing and evidence of it. All are very entertaining and compelling to watch. Check them out to see exactly why he was called Magic... kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2m0k6JmjNaphas kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z33Sdn-cg6uNl7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaCbg2aEicehe9k kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6nFeqJ-pquUl5o The first video is another very well-done highlight video, not just of his amazing passes, but also of his very underrated offensive abilities as a scorer (right and left handed hook shots, countless half-full court buzzer beaters, (as if he practiced those shots hundreds of times), demonstrating his clutchness). Showtime Lakers on full display...fast break after fast break after fast break. Just constantly running up and down the floor in transition, like a track meet... The second video is actual game footage that shows Magic and Showtime Lakers in an actual game, rather than just highlights, to demonstrate that they really played that way throughout entire games, and that it’s not just a series of highlights inflating them up. Showtime Lakers were so much fun and very exciting to watch... The third video is pretty much just an hour of Showtime fast breaks... The last video is an HBO documentary that is one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. (Many clips from it were spliced into this video above). It highlights the Magic vs. Bird rivalry, which still to this day was one of the best rivalries in all of sports. It gives insight into not just their NBA careers, but also their lives, early careers, and childhoods. A very compelling story to watch... If you’re a fan of basketball in general, you’ll definitely enjoy watching these videos... Definitely worth your time! Let me know what you think of them!

I wish every Jordan highlight could have John Starks in it. I used to love it when MJ schooled him.

The thing that People don't understand about MJ is he was so confident that he felt if you had his Dunk attempt he was still going to out hang you for the acrobatic Lay up.

NBA kept changing the rules and he kept adapting to them so his game changed as well. Today's league is basically a 5 on 5 dunk contest bcus the lanes are wide open, plus you basically can't touch anybody. Like one guy put it, Jordan would've ate this league up.
