This is the first video of yours I've watched and I really enjoyed it, so you've now got a new subscriber. I think we have similar reading tastes, and I appreciated your thoughtful reviews. The introduction to a cat detective series and the real life cat cameos might have helped, too! Working in education is so full-on, I empathise with the anxiety. I work in another field now, and though I miss the kids, I don't miss the constant pressure and the way it takes over your entire life. On a lighter note, I love those pull-down pencil cases. In case you didn't know, they are designed to work like a pen pot when the top part is pulled down - it should stand up on its own and allow you to pick out the pens or pencils you need easily.

This was a lovely Saturday morning watch while crocheting! I've added Perfect Remains to my TBR, I've not read many police procedurals but I do want to get more into crime/thrillers. I read Cant's Spell Treason when it was still self-published and the series is so good, I hope you enjoy it. 🕵

A late comment for the algorithm! I'm looking forward to Things We Do to Our Friends, but going into it with "this might be boring" expectations! I'm always in awe of the gorgeous places you find to stay! Just Like Mother sounds like my cup of tea completely. I'll be looking into this! My bestie and I just finished buddy reading. Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson. I'm more fantasy, but every now and then, I like a bit of mystery. We had a good time with it, trying to puzzle out "who done it", and we were always wrong! My friend is very clever, and I'm so glad we picked a book that kept her guessing. There are some triggery things that happen off page or ...not. 🕵‍♀️ Omgosh I love that pencil case!

I have seen a lot of people finding the things we do to our friends underwhelming so I think it is one I am going to skip. I felt the exact same way with sorry bro -- loved all the armenian culture side of things, but was less keen on the main character and the romance elements. I really enjoyed lore olympus vol 2 and I am glad you did too. I have been reading my way through kristin hannah and I am saving the nightingale to be the last one I read. I'm glad you really liked it even though it's a sad one. I read I wish you all the best recently and really liked it too. Happy to see sin eater stood the test of rereading, I remember liking it a long time ago. I dnfed and unhauled disorientation too :/ Yayy more akwaeke emezi!! Enjoy can't spell treason without tea x

I’m so happy to see how much you are enjoying the Lord of the Rings books!! I asked for a box set (the same as the ones you have) for my birthday after watching the films for the first time over Christmas and falling in love with them - so I cannot wait to finally start reading them!! I’m not much of a fantasy reader but I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy last year and loved it. I also listened to the trilogy and The Hobbit on audible read by Andy Serkis and wow!!! It was an amazing experience. I’m hearing you about the beautiful sound of the motorbike. I’ve been wanting to out on my husbands bike for ages now but my jacket no longer fits and I haven’t been able to find one that does. Also that sweater looks amazing on you, do you know what pattern your mother-in-law used for your jumper? It reminds me of one I used to have and I’d love to knit one. 😊 🕵️‍♀️

Ingrid is unlikeable in the first 50 pages of Disorientation but only to set up a contrast for the massive life overhaul she embarks on later in the book. It is generally about struggling with internalised racism and it responds to recent ‘race fishing’ scandals in academia. If I had to describe it with two existing books it is reminiscent of Yellowface by R. F. Kuang and Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
