Most people don't realize this, but the original M-16 A1 rifle had a .625 "pencil" barrel. It didn't falter, even when using a bayonet on it.
@3KindsOfGuns

The original actually did falter, when it heated up. Modern pencil barrels fare way better.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video and thank you for your service, your rifle is awesome. I replaced my 300 blackout 11.5” pistol with the 300 ham’r 11.5” which is minimum 30% more powerful giving me 16” AK47 ballistics but had too switch my Geissele Super42 out for the Springco red spring as well which completely fixed my BCG issues when I was running it hard and great for any over gassed barrel. I run all of my rifles extremely hard as if in a shtf scenario making sure any of them would do. I too am running Geissele 2 stage SSAE triggers and super duty parts on all my rifles. Great job 👍🏻 God bless all those who stand to defend The Constitution of The United States of America 🇺🇸

Nice dude! Sounds like a clean build. Why 300 hammer? I just don't have any trigger time on that cartridge. And my service is my choice, and it has been a great one, thanks for the support.

I was sick of bullet drop of the Blackout, even out of my 16” Barrett Rec7 substantial drop so I tried to Ham’r and was amazed at literally no drop inside 100 yards so I built a 16” and the 11.3. Just switch barrels to the 300 ham’r as it uses same bcg as 556 & blackout. Only drawback is bullets have gotten expensive but well worth it for hunting and self defense. Take care

Yeah the ammo is certainly expensive!

Fantastic Rifle. A little heavy for Recce if you intend to add more maybe, but your decisions make total sense. As you said, you prefer the distance on the scope, so there is your weight/capability tradeoff. Great paint job by the way.

Recce is not a type of DMR. Recce is short for reconnaissance. It’s a lightweight gun for sneaking and peeking - general purpose rifle that fully supports every squad function including CQB. The optic is a LPVO usually a 1x on the bottom side to 6, 8, or other power on top. What you have would more likely be called an SPR except for other details
@3KindsOfGuns
@3KindsOfGuns Жыл бұрын
Except for the short barrel and lack of bipod you are kind of correct. But it's ability to take longer range shots, and more importantly get PID at longer range, while still being very handy in a CQB environment, is what qualifies it as a Recce. Plus the definition of Recce rifle is kind of fluid, depending who you ask. So I guess what I really should have said is that MY Recce is more of a DMR/Recce hybrid.

Nice. I setup a very similar rifle but I used a Faxon match .223 Wylde barrel with gunner profile to cut down weight. Been very happy with it.

Strike Industries makes a good flat wire buffer spring. Their stuff is well made, made in the USA. The hate comes from the weird tacky 3-gun stuff in bright red or blue anodized.

If you dig you SOPMOD stocks from the likes of either B5 or BCM then I’d Strongly Suggest to check out the Magpul SL-S Stocks. It’s feels a bit heavier/beefier than the BCM/B5 versions, however the SL-S tends to change the point of balance of the rifle which often aids in better perceived handling characteristics during target transitions. I have big paws n have exclusively used bcm mod3 pistol grips on all my rifles, then stumbled across the magpul MOE XL pistol grip which so far I’m really enjoying.

Good rifle sir and thank you for your service. The term Recce is sorta falling off these days hence why you are getting so many comments about it lol, arguably the original recce rifle was car15s in Vietnam, but anyways that is a sweet "recce/GPR,/Do it all" rifle.

I don't know when "Recce" became shooting things at 700 yds. If you want an SPR, then build it. I have on too. 700 yards away on a "Recce" mission and I'm avoiding contact. Also, for a "Milita" rifle, you're going to have a hard time justifying 700 yard shots. I hope I'm not within 700 yards of some Know-it-all trigger-happy "Operator" during SHTF while I'm foraging for food and he wants to try out his new SD-E trigger. 11+ pounds!!!!!! are you kidding me? On a "Recce" mission? I don't care if you are in the military, you're dreaming baby!! My work gun (yes, I make a living with it) is a suppressed 10in (with proper ammo) 3x micro prisim, offset red dot and weighs 7.5 pounds. Most people in the country can't SEE 700 yards where they live let alone justify shooting someone at that distance. Also, no guns in the history of warfare fired more full auto rounds than those A1's that went to Viet Nam with PENCIL barrels - FACT! Everyone needs to grow up a little and realize practical and actual limitations of their abilities.
@3KindsOfGuns
@3KindsOfGuns Жыл бұрын
I'm not disagreeing with anything you said. I said "could" engage at longer ranges, not should. The SD-E trigger is phenomenal, so I don't know your relevance on that point. As I stated, a Recce rifle is a rifle capable of taking longer shots than people think it can, while being effective in a CQB environment as well. There is certainly an argument for your setup, more of an "urban" Recce rifle, as opposed to mine, which is more of a "rural" Recce rifle. They both have their place. The pencil barrels in Vietnam were part of the issue, and thankfully the metallurgy now is much better, so pencil barrels work better than they used to. In all honesty, thanks for your comment, you brought up some valid points, specifically that "recce" is a term based on environment, and not really a single set of parameters.

Hey 3KOG, just found your channel, love your gun and paint vids. That angled foregrip looks great, I'm always hesitant about adding one, feel like muscle memory would get in the way. Might have to give it a shot though, looks good to shoot. Great video brother. Oorah

A lot of people dislike Strike Industries because so much of their products are over designed aesthetically. Are they good quality? Most likely. Are they innovative? A lot of the time. Are they ugly? A fair bit of the time. And the garish colors don't help. It's like when I sit down to draw, there have been plenty of times that I worked and reworked and reworked a drawing from looking awesome to looking like complete garbage. You have to know when to quit. Do I like the couple things I have from Strike Industries, I sure do! But they're subdued parts that aren't garish looking.
