I don't think I would have thought to just redirect the leak back into the sump. That was a great idea!

Unfortunately, this is a common issue, Redsea have now implemented a 5 year warranty with their new models. For the money you pay I'd expect at least 10 years out of a tank personally. In the 1990s, we just used clearseal tanks, and they lasted 20 years plus. My 4ft clearseal lasted from 1997 to 2018. There was still nothing wrong with it then, and my friend turned it into a vivarium. I replaced it with an EA Pro built in the U.K and I'm pretty sure I'll still get another 10 years at least out of this aquarium

I read that it was a design flaw with their stand, a bit of the tank overhangs the edge in someway, just for some type of aesthetic value, but it means the sides are not completely supported by the stand... supposedly they have changed this the last few years, less than 5 I think, so their new tanks IOW
@travelingrabbit22226 ай бұрын
Been looking at the gen 2 version and it’s still over hang so no support on the front glass. Notice that with a lot of saltwater tank brand
@WRASSEREEFCHANNEL5 ай бұрын
Totally true. The front glass is not supported. That appears to be the issue. The Gen 2 appears to be the same, all though I haven't seen one in person.

I totally agree! I am slowly getting things back to normal in my new tank. It was a rushed process, and I lost thousands worth of coral, and a few of my more expensive fish unfortunately. That's the worst part. If you are in the hobby long enough, your luck is bound to run out, as I found out! 🙂

I understand the frustration as it happened first hand to me. I just purchased my 3rd RedSea tank an S1000G2+ and so far the G2's have had no issues. I do hope you're statement to never buy RedSea again is just anger as I was! I have been in this hobby for 23 years now and I've had Aqueon and a custom tank blow out on me, RedSea makes more tank than any company in the world no doubt crap is going to happen to some. Though at this point they should be honoring this design flaw and replacing all the tanks free of charge. Anyways really sucks I hope things work out and nothing dies like I had.
@WRASSEREEFCHANNEL6 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah that is the frustrating part. They know there is a design flaw, but didn't extend the warranty from 3 years to 5 years. Wow...23 years! I guess if you are in this hobby long enough something like this will happen. 10 years for me.

@@WRASSEREEFCHANNEL I lost a yellow and Lt. Tang a mated pair of cleaner shrimp and 2 wrasses. Mainly due to a re-cycle of the new tank and the wrasses because I had no top for the new tank yet as it took 3 weeks for them to make and they didn't have wings. Then just mostly my snails things like that. When the custom tank crashed I lost an emperor Angel 2 clowns and a regal. The whole glass panel just blew out when I was at work and found them dead on the floor when I got home. Unfortunately it can just happen I have another Aqueon 90 that's been running for 16 years now and just starting to show silicone damage you just never know.

@Acidrain50001 Wow...that's horrible! I know after 10 years in the hobby and 3 tanks later my luck ran out I guess. I was more upset with the loss of some fish, and my Eel. I almost decided to get out of the hobby briefly the day it happened. I am sure many do leave the hobby after something like this happens though.
@Acidrain500016 ай бұрын
@@WRASSEREEFCHANNEL It's always the loss for me that hurts the most, the tanks are like cars they will fail you just don't know when. I for sure know a few that left the hobby for this reason or money and time needed. For the ones that stay I would say we learn to have more tanks lol. I do all I can for my fish some I have had for over 10 years now but we all have to be realistic it's a tank and we are not perfect. As I said though when my Aqueon leaked I still purchased another one, mind you it's one of 2 company's we had back in them days I was pissed but didn't hate them. What RedSea is doing now knowing it's a design flaw is wrong they should back it no matter the timeframe but I hear they are getting sued now (don't hold me to that just rumors) so maybe people will get something out of it.

No link. Just my word. This is a much more widespread issue than you'd think and word travels fast via social media within the hobby when this is far from an isolated case. And the company response so far has left a lot to be desired. We'll see what the end result is in due course. 😅
