I think it’s pretty impossible for Logic to subconsciously appreciate what Anthony is trying to do. I’m sure he understands and appreciates everything Fantano says, but that part just doesn’t click for him because he wants to believe in himself as much as possible - and accepting criticism generally will undermine your self confidence, even if you are a good listener. I imagine he thinks about reviews of other musicians affecting them in the same way, which is why he gets peeved about Anthony’s skits, jokes, roasts, etc.

While I’ll say that I do love the Fantano/Logic dynamic and I think this is a fun video, something about the way that Logic phrases his responses just screams “I’m insecure and I want Anthony to like me,”or “He’s being so mean and harsh to these hard working artists and that’s not fair,” and while I do understand his want for approval because validation is a common need that we want from people we admire, it seems like it’s affecting his “logic”(oh damn) and understanding of criticism and that it isn’t a personal attack on the artist itself. I just find it kind of annoying and slightly off putting.. Maybe I’m taking this too seriously and it ain’t that deep, but it’s something that I noticed, I suppose. It’s all good, Logic! I think for me the biggest thing about negative reviews is their date of release. idk when you put yours out bc new fan, but it really bothers me when I read negative reviews for media before I get the chance to form my own opinion on it. if others around you are saying that x media is bad, when you go to listen to / watch / read x media on your own, your perception of it is going to be influenced already. I feel like allowing / encouraging viewers to try it out themselves first is a great way of showing respect to the artist and the listener. but also, ik thumbnails are important and also if you post a review a month late then less people will care. idk cheers love ur vids an example: I went into the new Thor movie expecting it to be bad, and I was sitting there having to get over my own semi-conscious mental block that "people say this movie is bad, therefor I shouldn't like it" when I realized I was enjoying the movie.

the thing about reviews is that even they get critiqued. how many times have you read a review and thought this some bs, most people pick shit they agree with or just like the reviewers thoughts but i think reviewers should most definitely looks at stuff they don't like. hell sometimes you might find something you like from a place you thought you knew you wouldn't like.

I feel like for an artist a review is different than a fan looking for new music and seeing if they should check something out. I look at you as a reviewer for recommendations and to deepen my thoughts on music. Haru Nemuri is an artist I never would have checked out if it wasn't for your review of her first album. several other albums I might have been on the fence on checking out over others and because of good reviews I did. I find plenty of issue with some of your reviews but that comes usually from a place of fandom for an artist I know you don't have. while you and everyone have biases you are actually pretty good at being some what unbiased going in to music, you never seem excited to hate music, maybe some pop people, Taylor Swift, you are biased to not liking her more pop lyrics but that's not your thing and every time you've reviewed her you do take the time to praise and talk about the good and bad never just this and that were bad. For an artist though I could see why they would be annoyed if they put time and effort into making an album or song and a reviewer they like didn't see what they were going for or didn't like.

If you've worked with artists before, this isn't unusual. A lot of creatives are purely about the process of creating, and feel uncomfortable critically evaluating the work of others. It might seem like a crazy blindspot for an artist to have, but as long as they are exploring in their own work, they don't necessarily have to develop a sharply discerning sense of taste to be successful. However, in this case it may explain the highly variable quality of Logic's back catalogue.

@@lilaclunablossom lol i think he's referencing the idea that people who claim to not like country or rap tend to be on the more ignorant side when it comes to music consumption. Not necessarily ignorant in a malevolent way, but I know I'm personally highly skeptical of anyone who writes off entire genres of music unless they elaborate sufficiently. It just reeks of an opinion formed through osmosis (i.e. they hang out with people who don't like 'x or x') rather than personal experience and time spent actually listening to it. obviously that isn't always the case, just a heuristic that I've found useful
