This is my review of Visions. Overall it was cool. Some episodes were a very boring. Others were captivating and amazing. I'd love if they continued on the shows that I enjoyed, maybe into a series.
I recommend watching this show, it was fun and unique with a star wars feel in an anime world. You can skip the episodes you don't like, and watch the ones you do.

"The Duel", "The Elder", "The Village Bride", and "The Ninth Jedi" were all my favorites. All the others I could mostly do without. I agree and that’s kind of my problem with them. A lot of these felt like they could’ve just been regular anime but had Star Wars thrown on them to get both audiences. Episode 7 really brought me into the world of star wars. We essentially just got a peek into the lives of a master and padawan. Stories like that have always excited me the most. Seeing the process of training to become a Jedi and the lessons you learn along the way as well as a Jedi at his Prime navigating the galaxy and trying to teach the next generation is something my childhood self always wanted. The galaxy isn't always at war and the Jedi were never really supposed to be a military force. So being able get a peek at what the jedi were supposed to be is extremely exciting. This episode was definitely the most grounded and allowed me to really get invested in the characters. 10/10 from me.

They could create a show out of the ninth Jedi. A story about finding Jedi across the Galaxy and giving them lightsabers to bring peace to the Galaxy is a really cool idea. Also they need to find that sabersmith. Also it was cool how the lightsaber changes colour depending on the force user.

The Elder last fight between The Master and former sith reminded me alot of end fight scene of Harakiri it's a great samurai film and the way both took their stance and you had little moments before the strike eachother, after each strike you can see them changing their posture and movement as the battle goes on even if this battle lasted for like 2 minutes you can just feel the weight and tension between them as they measure eachother and after every strike just for 2 seconds they stop and you can see them analysing their and enemies previous strike Great fight scene probably the best of the season

George Olund in Legends, that's an actual saber technique that a few Jedi implored against arrogant or foolish dark side opponents. It's pretty effective if you're fast enough to deactivate and reignite the lightsaber before the enemy can react. But if you slip anywhere between the transition or make it way too obvious you're plotting something deceptive, you're basically offering up your forearms to get sliced clean off...

Stunning visuals aside, I really liked how the episodes expanded upon star wars motifs in a way that no one’s done before. Family, fate and destiny, nature, culture of the sword - these episodes take the main beats of the saga, and expand on them in completely original ways. A lightsaber is literally a reflection of the swordsman who wields it. Fallen knights can be heroes. Family is not just a lineage. The themes in Star Wars have many interpretations beyond Lucas’ vision, and I think it’s great that we get to explore them in a broader way.

Jan Joedicke I'd like them to do a follow up series where the "younger" brother of The Elder goes on a vengeful rampage across Republic Space to kill Jedi. And if they place the story during the few centuries following the Ruusan Reformation, we could get a cameo from a Sith Lord still following the path of Darth Bane that attempts to kill the brother. His rash actions could spur a mass Jedi search for possible Sith in the galaxy, undoing centuries of scheming.

How'd you feel about The Elder? It would've made a good series of The Master and his apprentice hunting him down across the galaxy as he commits several atrocities of varying destruction. I know he got one-pieced in the episode but they could just retcon that as a clone (I know that'd piss off a bunch of fans) or play it off as a non-canon pilot episode. Or they could keep the episode Canon and have his younger brother find out about his older brother's death and terrorize The Republic. What do you think about this?

Although I agree, I guess I expected something a little different and it didn't blow my mind, which I was hoping it would. Since I'm a big fan of anime. Would welcome more episodes for sure. I think Disney needs to make a show called "Star Wars: Legends" and do stories from the old expanded universe. I'd love to see Kyle Katarn, Luke & Mara with their kid and Han & Leia with the Solo twins. My personal favourites were 'The Elder', 'The ninth Jedi' and 'Lop & Ochō' these were by far the most well written and true to star wars episodes which sprinkled in their own flair. They had both the best character development and world-building even within such a short time. The others seemed too jam-packed and these three could 100% have full series made after them, but by far the most interesting in a lengthy series in my opinion is the ninth Jedi and its representation of futuristic star wars and the re-building of the Jedi order.

I really liked episodes 1, 5, 7 and 8. However I am disappointed that all the episodes mainly revolved around the jedi and because of that they all felt kind of the same to me. I was hoping that we could have gotten stories about clones, bounty hunters, a rebel cell or, hell, maybe even one about pod racing. There's just so much in the Star Wars galaxy that could have been told so I hope that if there is going to be another season of Visions with some episodes focusing on other parts of Star Wars.

The first episode had me jizzing. All I could think was FINALLY Star Wars does a full circle! It was purity and essence like no other, and the outfits were just so much better, I loved the designs! I agree those two episodes deserve a full series. I know some fans have been making teasers and trailers for the original movies in anime and they were a hit. There is a thirst from the SW fans for anime content, and an interest in seeing the entire Saga (1-6) made into anime. Disney has the means, do they have the will? Maybe.

“There is a thirst for anime” not exactly. Majority of us just want good sw content, only anime fans cares if it’s in anime form or not. We already have good animations like both clone wars and other stuff, and the live actions shows like mandalorian, movies, books, games etc. I didn’t see any big “anime” thirst from general star wars fans. Lots of them doesn’t even care about the genre. Just do some justice to this franchise in some theatre form and that’s enough.

@@basak9746 Well there is crossover between those that watch both things. There is a lot of cross pollination between Japanese and Western arts. And yeah plenty of people would like that stuff, if things like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5PCZXRoeKxld8k get over a million views and a ton of likes it explains why Lucasfilms did Visions. Either way I agree we want stuff that is well written and produced. I actually enjoyed the animated series stories more than the movies, mostly because there was more. As for theater, cinema is dead for me, stinky rooms, lots of people, uncomfortable chairs, too much yapping and screaming children. Streaming has spoiled me for comfort I guess. Also 2 hours is not long enough for me, I love 3hr long movies and much of the Star Wars movies would benefit from such a runtime, they cut sooo much out of what they film that makes them make sense, yet they are so stuck to their ways they can't do otherwise. Most recent "TV show" seasons are in truth long run movies that got chopped up, same as many other movie quality series out there. Now, nothing beats reading a good book series imo, something like Starship's Mage, Expanse, Timothy Zahn SW stuff, Wheel of Time and so much more! Reading is awesome! (Not a fan of audiobooks though, not for me). They screwed imo when they discarded most of the Expanded Universe, they could have gone animation on a lot of that stuff and cashed in without having to spend much on good writing.

Episodes 3 & 4 were two favorites of mine, but my all time favorite from visions has to go the Epsiode 5; Ninth Jedi such a good epsiode in every aspect. Episode 3 had a fast beat action type feel to it, the action was over the top and I digged it reminds me of other anime I've seen like Fate; Unlimited Blade Works (not the same studio though, but 100% worth a watch if you like stunning anime fights). The Dark Side Twins was an intresting concept & of course given only under 20 minutes to tell a stand alone story they had some great diaouluge thrown in their at times, but I'm glad they decided to put their efforts more on the visuually impressive action which is what this studio is known to shine for. Epsode 4, has the most overlooked writing imo, the main character for this epsiode has my favorite design in all of visions, she looked like an absolute unit. The setting was what made this one great because it went so well the main character's mini arc. Loved the yellow lightsaber as well. (Rey can eat her heart out) Finally the Ninth Jedi. Hooo Boy where to start, Animation; Stunning. Score; Very Good. Setting; Well Done. The story was definitely where this one shined for alot of people. From the first scene to the last this story had me engaged to know in what direction it was going and it did not disapoint even surpassing expectations. The Lightsaber plot twist was also a clever one, good stuff. To quote, "It's a masterpiece James. Complete & comprehensive"

There was 0 plot or character, it was purely an excuse for a fight. I appreciate the artwork and shoutout to all the amazing animators who worked on it but goddamn what a snoozefest. I don't even care that much that the fight itself was complete nonsense, just at least give me some reason to be invested. The whole "Twins born from darkness" thing didn't actually factor in anywhere, the brother was framed as heroic with the blue lightsaber and his design but he wasn't fighting for anything especially heroic, his only motivation was to save his sister. Now that would have been a fine motivation if we were shown at all that he had some level of relationship with her, but she seemed to actively spite him for no reason, even herself for some reason, she literally saw her future death in the force and then was just like fuck it I'll die why not? You want to stop me from dying? Let's fight over it where I actively try to kill myself and you have to stop me haha. WHY THOUGH??!?!? As far as the brother, he constantly went on about saving her, but didn't really show any emotion towards her beyond just "oh she's my sister I don't want her to die" The whole thing just sucked. Least favorite one by far, even the weaker episodes at least had some heart somewhere, some story to tell or characters to explore. The Twins had nothing to offer. Again though, respect to the animators, they work hard.

Did you know…. That in Episode 6, Masako Nozawa voiced T0-B1 in the Japanese Dub? Nozawa, if you don’t know, has an extensive Career as a Voice Artist, but is primarily known for as THE Voice for Son Goku and the all Males in his Family in ALL of the Dragon Ball Franchise. Unfortunately, Masako Nozawa is currently going through bouts of Dementia (the reason she’s not Voicing Doraemon anymore), but it’s AWESOME to see her once again put her Heart in another Wonderful performance, here in Star Wars Visions! ☺️ Episode 6 will be one of my favorites because of her! 😊

In The Elder, I love how the Master represented Qui-gon and the padawan Anakin! It was like a "what if scenario".What If Qui-Gon went on to be Anakin's master. The padawan in The Elder had Anakin's haircut for an example and the Master used Qui-Gon's stance multiple times while fighting The Elder
@QuiGonJinn1993
@QuiGonJinn1993 2 жыл бұрын
While I agree on the the whole Qui-Gon aspect i have to disagree with the padawan being anakin. If more he has an Obi-Wan feel. Gotta remember though that Anakin is very inpatient during most of his training especially how he got his ass handled by count dooku in AOTC. This these two ordinary Jedis they had a plan to find this elder. With anakin for example he would of done something rash and tries to go head strong with or without his masters approval. Sure he learned his lesson in Revenge but thats because he knew he did something stupid during that encounter on geonosis. This padawan was patent and listened to his master. While splitting up wasn't a good idea his master advised him of the dangers that he would encounter while traveling to the mountain.

Exactly, this show have some cool concept like a Sith walking the path of redemption (Jubei or Samurai X) without him negating his past. Droid following the Jedi way even if he is not alive (Astro boy or Pinocchio vibes) to honor his creator wish/vision, who fought to protect all living things to name a few things about this show.

Episodes I would love to see a continuation: #4 The Village Bridge: I love when an show lets itself be engrossed by the environment and be extremely atmospheric. Kinematic Citrus has already mastered this in Made in Abyss and I was delighted that they brought back Kevin Penkin to do the music once again. #5 The Ninth Jedi: Production I.G. really created characters that I hooked me in. I would love to see where this story may lead to. To me, it felt like Dave Filoni would write this himself. #8 Lop & Ocho: I've never heard of Geno Studio before this, but I want to check out there other works now. I wasn't sure if a bunny girl would work in Star Wars, but it really did. I would love to explore more of this family dynamic.

The first episode was amazing. I always wanted to see more of the samurai influence that Star Wars has and this one delivered BIG TIME. When the Ronin caught the lightsaber, that's was awesome. But when he whipped his lightsaber out, bruh that was sick. The sound reminded me of Kylo's, and the shock of the sith girl just says it all. I wanna see more of his story. There's always been a Jedi hunter/killer, but someone that puts his life towards the hunting and killing of sith is dope.

"The Village Bride" worked best as part of an anthology series for me because it managed to balance concept, drama and character with dialogue that felt really natural when most other episodes needed to force in exposition in weird ways that definitely took something out of the experience.
