_The Ninth Jedi_ has everything we want from a Star Wars story, interesting lore, interesting characters and lots of surprises and twists set centuries after the events of _The Rise of Skywalker._ Speaking of the twists, I loved how they handled the twist in the short cause there was question when Ethan and the others arrived at the Station whether it was a trap to kill the Jedi or the Dark Side Acolytes and on the Margrave/Juro's identity if he was a Sith or a Jedi, but when the others (minus Ethan and Kara) were revealed to be Dark Side Acolytes when the sabers turned Red and Juro/Margrave was a Jedi planning this trap on the Acolytes my mind was blown. It's also fascinating how the Kyber Crystals in the Lightsabers change color depending on the user's personality and Traits which was an idea featured in Marvel Comics adaptation of _Return of the Jedi_ when Darth Vader holds Luke Skywalker's lightsaber which changed from Green to Red. Even the animation is done by one of the most recognizable Anime Studios in Japan, *Production I.G.* and I really digged the English dub voice Cast consisting of Masi Oka (Heroes) as Ethan, Kimiko Glenn (Broadway's Waitress, Orange is the New Black, Lena in DuckTales 2017) as Kara and Simu Liu (Shang Chi) as Kara's Father. I do hope that this and the other shorts _The Duel, The Village Bride, The Twins,_ and _Lop & Ochō_ become a full fledged Anime Series, especially Village Bride.

I agree. I would love to see those shorts as their own series. The Village Bride could work well as a full movie, but I think that because it reminds me of Princess Mononoke. The ninth Jedi was so cool. I totally agree that is has everything. It also feels like there’s more to it, you know? Like it feels like the pilot episode to a 5 season show. The Duel has a novel explaining the events afterwards, so it’s possible there are plans to continue this story as well

@@conradmonson30 I think Village Bride could work as a 1-2 Season series over a film cause there is so much about the Masked Female Jedi (F) and I definitely would love to see more of her character. "The Twins" is the one I see likely as a anime film or an anime Miniseries, IMHO.

I think one of the reasons I love that it's in the far future is because both the Jedi and the Sith seem different. These seem like adaptations the two orders have taken on after so many generations of doing the same things and failing. The Sith have taken the galaxy, but they work together and care about each other, despite utilizing something as selfish is the dark side. The Jedi have to be more clandestine and brutal in order to try and claw back what they have lost, but they still maintain the compassion and desire for a return to peace and justice. I think that while sharing the same names, these are pretty unique versions of the Orders and I feel it's because they have all of the history of rising and falling behind them. I really hope this gets made into a series. This short was just phenomenal. Plus, Juro is the coolest Jedi design lol

While everyone loves the story, the lore and the twists let's mention about the droids that stood out in the short such as the Boatman Droid who took Kara to the Margrave as he was by far the funniest character in the short, and Kara's droid companion, 99-99. I definitely would love to have the type of droid that Kara had cause it's design is cute, helps you with your lightsaber training and imagine the merchandise potential of 99-99.

I actually like the idea that the cycle between Jedi & Sith continues. While it would be nice to think that a balance could be maintained, the harsh reality of the universe is that equilibrium doesn't happen. The light and dark ebb back and forth like the tides. Any efforts to wipe the existence of one or the other from the galaxies memory just results in their adherents being able to find new ways to hide them. And I do love how these new forged crystals make it hard or impossible to hide one's affinity. While a light side user should be able to pass for dark side by letting their rage out or channelling it through their hands, a sith would likely have trouble getting their blade to stop being red without completely suppressing their presence in the force, like Palpatine had to do to avoid being detected by the Jedi.

While other Star Wars is a "Long Time Ago", I like to think that this short is "Today in a Galaxy Far Far Away". I hope Star Wars uses this far-future setting more often in the future. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did this to basically do a soft reboot. Being so insanely far in the future gives the writers a clean slate without completely discarding everything that came before.

Trying to fit this into canon, I had no problem with the Sith being back or the Jedi struggling *again*. For the Sith: I’m assuming there is not a continuity of training, but instead Force-users falling to the Darkside, doing some historical research, and claiming the name. For the Jedi: My brain put this 10,000 years into the future from Ep. IX (for some reason), at a time when the Jedi were again nearly hunted to extinction (as the High Republic’s references to the past made clear, the Order 66 was not the first time such a thing happened). However, the quasi-Ahsoka symbol the Margrave was using told me that he did represent a continuity of training(-in-hiding), rooted perhaps in whatever Ahsoka got up to, that was now feeling the call of the Force to come out of hiding.

Yeah it could also take place in the far past, but I like seeing something after the Skywalker Saga. When it comes to similarities between plot beats, character archetypes, and themes, I like to believe a reason for 9 episodes of Visions is that they can correlate with the Skywalker Saga (even though it’s just coincidence and the same Visions short can share solidarity with more than one movie - but hear me out!) I believe I cracked the code on which Visions episode is a soul partner with their Star Wars Episode: The Duel => The Empire Strikes Back Tatooine Rhapsody => Return of the Jedi The Twins => The Last Jedi The Village Bride => Attack of the Clones The Ninth Jedi => The Force Awakens T0-B1 => A New Hope The Elder => The Phantom Menace Lop and Ochō => The Rise of Skywalker Akakiri => Revenge of the Sith

This episode was my absolute favorite. I love this style of anime, then throw a great story on top of it made me want more of it. The whole lightsaber changing with their affinity to the force is reminiscent of Knights of the Old Republic how your character changes with their alignment to the light or dark side. I feel that would be a great addition to a game like Knights of the Old Republic, your lightsaber changes as your character changes with the choices you make throughout the game.

I loved this short, I'd say it was my third favourite of the lot. Right off the bat, the setup and the mystery intrigued me and I was into it. I loved taking that abandoned concept about lightsabers from ROTJ and using it in a story and to such great effect too. I liked Kara as a character and her action in the speeder chase was fun. The tension and the buildup right up to when those lightsabers turn on and they're red was perfection and I liked how the Margrave Juro turned out to be a Jedi, he was just wearing a mask that gave him red glowing eyes. It's a real "don't judge a book by its cover" kind of situation, same with the Sith hiding as Jedi. And the duel at the end of the short was fun, following two fights at the same time. Kara holding her own against multiple opponents again shows her natural skills with a lightsaber and I like how there's a moment where Juro notices it and he pauses before continuing his own fight. And for as cool and badass Juro was, I like how he got overwhelmed by the Sith's Force powers, he wasn't perfect and Kara had to engage that Sith to save him. That was a brief but cool fight and teamup. Also, I had totally missed Homen's lightsaber turning purple initally, I think I might have been too distracted by Kara's turning a proper green my first time watching but I remember when the camera cut to him and I was like "wait why is his lightsaber purple now, when did that happen?", it was a nice twist as well. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention Four Nines and one of the best parts of this short: the old droid, I got some good laughs out of him and I was losing it as he was watching the fight while sipping his tea/oil beverage, that was funny. So yeah this short rocked and it was one of the best of Visions IMO. If any short warranted a followup, it'd probably be this one

No one, not even George Lucas, says that everything Star Wars must be tied to the presently known canon storyline. There is room in the Star Wars Universe for stories and adventures involving the Force, the fallen remnants of the Empire and the Sith, as well as the history of the Jedi Order that is now treated as myth or legend stories. As long as there is life, the Force will always exist. And there will be those who are drawn to it's light of Wisdom and Understanding, or its dark influence for Power and Dominance. The colors of a lightsaber only shows which side of the Force you have chosen to embrace.

I think it would be cool if Disney had a “Legends” section where non canon stories like Visions or the Force Unleashed could exist in their own universe. I think this could still work in the far distant future. Not like one generation from Rise of Skywalker, but like a thousand years, or something. I do agree that it feels a bit more like ancient times where this sort of thing is all new, but I think it's supposed to be far enough in the future that after, basically a Force apocalypse (in which both the Sith and the Jedi have been "lost" for a time), history has begun to repeat itself, in a way. Totally love this short and would also love to see it as a series, myself! This and Lop & Ocho intrigue me the most. The Twins definitely has a bit more story potential, but it's crazy enough not to intrigue me as much, lol. It does intrigue me to get more out of it, for sure, just nowhere near as much as the other two, lol 😅.

The thing is the Sith and Jedi’s fight is unending not because it’s futile but because good and evil will always face each other. It’s very Star Wars. How many ancient evils have returned in Star Wars only to be stopped by new heroes.

So upon initial watch, I wasn't too into it. It certainly wasn't bad, there was a lot to like, but I felt like there was too much focus on the lightsaber and not so much on the Force. Storywise, it makes sense, and I think a lot of inspiration came from Obi-Wan's line about how the lightsaber was the weapon of a Jedi Knight, is elegant, and from a more civilized age. They're also symbols, and so to see the changing colors helps showcase what they can mean. With a few more watches, it has slowly moved up my list, but it's pretty much firmly in the middle at number 4 if I were to rank all the shorts. If we do get a continuation, I wouldn't be against it, but it's not exactly what I'm interested in. For example, like you said, the Jedi are still struggling to return and the Sith are numerous? I'm just not feeling it. I'd much rather do something else like follow F from _The Village Bride_ on some of her journeys, or especially see where the story goes with Lop & Ochō. One last thing, 99-99 (Four Nines) reminded me a bit of N.I.G.E.L. from the Godzilla animated series with his similar sounding beeps and even the bulbous head. Nothing else is similar between the two, like at all, but I just found an odd connection where one doesn't really exist. Four Nines is a treasure. And long live N.I.G.E.L.

I personally found Visions too Force user centric for my tastes. So this story ended up being simply okay for me. But I was a bit fatigued by the time I got to it. "Oh, more Lightsabers..." I hope if they do actually make a second season they branch out a bit more. Like a Cowboy Bebop type tale with Smugglers/Bounty Hunters. Or even better, Mecha Zillo Beast!

The notion that the Jedi never really recover or are brought to the edge of destruction many times is something I actually like a lot. It's accurate to history for a start; religious sects and warrior castes are betrayed and exterminated and rise again and are betrayed again constantly. But it also gives the Jedi multiple opportunities to evolve and gives new individuals a way to define what being a Jedi can and should mean for their generation.

The setting seems OK if you put this in a time period where the galaxy as a whole are just DONE with force user shenanigans. Jedi that could fall. Sith that wreck everything before they're ever redeemed and the Jedi let them off the hook (that is NOT how justice/statutes of limitations work). So, imagine a time period where ALL force users are outlawed. Then "Sith" take over and the only ones to set things right will be new "Jedi". Just one problem. Nobody knows how to train them or make their lightsabers. Until Margrave Juro and La Zima the Sabersmith.

Wasn’t the cut ahsoka arc of the clone wars going to be her returning to the Jedi temple to travel underground for a secret holocron. Along with anakin, obi-wan and plo koon I’m pretty sure? And how they found out a dark reveal related to palpatine? I’m pretty sure that was the case.

I can see what you’re saying about the whole Jedi and Sith thing considering that I felt like it was put to bed at the end of episode nine. But if this is like far in the future like maybe like several hundred years in the future, I mean I got kind of makes sense that some fanatic force users would find about the dark side and declare themselves Sith, though they seem more like the brotherhood of darkness. But I could believe that Rey would have a hard time reestablishing the Jedi order. After all, Luke had a direct connection to two Jedi council members of the old Jedi order… He had more of a Headstart then Rey did on rebuilding, and considering She probably still had to deal with the acolytes of the beyond and other first order entities, I could see this being doable but I also like your idea as well of it being in the old old republic
