My review of The Iron Claw

I am a old skool wrestling fan like you. I saw the movie too. I am still upset they didn't even try to put Chris in the movie in the same manner as they did Jack. They replace Chris with Mike in the family photo and up B&W photo of Jack in the outter corner??? What gives??? I thought it would have been a cool easter egg to put both Chris and Mike in the photo. At bare minimum Chris would have been in the the final montage or in the blurb before announcing how long Kevin has been married.

Just got out of the theaters to see this movie. Really hit home emotionally, coming from a family of 3 brothers

I enjoyed the movie too and appreciate the dedication of all those involved to bring it to life. Gotta say though, whoever they hired to play Naitch was the only part that took me out of it. Me and my buddy literally looked at each other and started laughing our asses off. Other than that, loved it.

I ended up seeing the film three times. There were a lot of good things that appeared in the film, but there were a lot of choices that they made that I felt were bad. Mostly casting choices and things that were omitted for time. Honestly, I think that the Von Erich story would have been best told as a TV miniseries. This way they could have told the story over the course of several hours, rather than a compacted 2 1/2 hours.

I grew up going to these matches and watching them on T.V.. I thought the movie was really good. I know it was "Inspired" by a true story. I'd love to see a Docu-series of WCCW from the 80's with all of the wrestlers.

I saw the Iron Claw today. I thought it was really good. I thought all of the actors playing the Von Erich’s did a really good job. Out of all the actors I thought the actor that played Harley Race looked the most like the person he played.

Actually loved this movie for what it was, Chris missing aside. Man oh man though, that Ric Flair impersonator was horrid. Completely ruined the impact of Kerry's World Title win. Cartoonish like a sketch comedy skit.

Completely disagree about Chris being in the movie. As I've said on social media to numerous people, you could not possibly just put Chris's story on at the end of the movie, he would have to be a character from at least the 30min mark of the movie. To do that would mean firstly a child actor playing him, which would mean he would need almost a separate story than the 4 brothers. You have to make an audience care for a character in any story and as a writer, just adding him in for him to then die would utterly disjoint the movie entirely and make it drastically worse story-wise. His story was absolutely separate from his 4 older brothers, anyone denying that is being disingenuous with the truth. And as I've also pointed out to various people, Chris wasn't even included in the Von Erich Family Album official book that came out in the mid 80's, which absolutely proves that Chris was not in the main story of the Von Erich's 4 brothers during the early to mid 80s. Yes this is very harsh, but when you are writing any story and it's based on real life events, there HAS to be an arc and Chris's life events in wrestling would take place at a time that would make zero sense in a movie storyboard.

Agreed 100%. His story would make no sense wrestling wise in the storyline. By the time he came around WCCW was gone and he only wrestled a few times and it wasn't memorable

I may suggest to my husband to watch this movie . I like wrestling . I grew up watching wrestling because my father loved it. I’m curious to know how this sports is made to b a movie. Well, I googled what makes this special. Unfortunately, u mentioned the movie didn’t acknowledge or dedicating this movie to the brothers? Oh! For sure the movie is famous that even the commenters here also like it

It's about the four brothers, but there was a fifth brother that isn't in the movie. He was the youngest and didn't have a very long career. The director said he made the movie without him because it would have made the movie too long. It's still a good movie though.
